Helmwood Veterinary Clinic Elizabethtown, Indiana

They do great care for my pets and are always very friendly. BUT they have a terrible habit of charging my card on file when they shouldn't. I paid off my paw plan balances, yet was still charged almost $100 for the payments and it isn't the first time it's happened either. Very disappointing and a big inconvenience when you needed that money for gas and lunch for work.

Imagine dropping your children off at daycare and when you arrive to pick them up the daycare is closed and no one let you know and you have no way to know if your kids are being taken care of. I have been coming here for years and the staff has always been amazing. I went on a weekend trip and was supposed to pick my dogs up on Monday and when I arrived they were closed. I was not contacted in anyway to let me know I would not be able to pick them up I called and the voice-mail said they were closed due to weather and bad road conditions. I drove all the way from Louisville to etown and the roads were fine. I understand safety issues but this is unexceptable.

wonderful experience, very polite and forthcoming with information. was very concerned about the overall health and wellbeing of a recent rescue. staff was VERY over the top with understanding my concerns which was highly appreciated. prices seem to be within limits of vet care. would definitely recommend.

I am speaking for my mother and her experience with Helmwood Vet clinic with her 3 year old dog. This incident took place on December 14th. Her appointment was for 5:30. As instructed, she called when she arrived early. After patiently waiting an hour, she called again. At this point she was informed that they left a message that the office was overbooked and the appt needed to be rescheduled. They had called the house phone during that hour. She was sitting in their parking lot! They have both phone numbers and she had called before 5:30 and left a message that she was on the lot waiting! They eventually took her dog in at 8:30. $400 later at 9:00 my 79 year old mother had to drive home in the dark. Ridiculous! Why would you over book to the degree of forcing people to wait even an hour - not to mention 3 hours? Why is she forced to buy the dog’s daily allergy medicine from you when the online pharmacies are significantly cheaper? Why do you insist on keeping the dog on Apoquel when there has been no relief from the rashes and paw chewing/licking? Why are COVID vaccinated customers not allowed inside your building? You’re taking advantage of pet owners and using their sympathy and love for their pets to make money.

The entire staff at Helmwood Veterinary Clinic are professional and kind. It is shown with how they interact with the fur babies and the people that own them. I would highly recommend this great Veterinary Clinic.

I will always be grateful to Helmwood for the care they took with my cat even after he died. They obviously care a great deal, and for that, they have my respect. Thank you

Giving a 1 star review because SOMEHOW this is the 3rd time in about 6 months I've seen a post on Facebook from people who's lost their dogs because the staff dropped the leash by 'accident,' and let dogs run off. People's pets.... wow!

The staff including the doctor were all great but the fact that we still have to sit in the car and not go in the room with our pet, is ridiculous. I understand they don’t want a lot of people sitting in the waiting room, but you should be able to go into the exam room with your animal. When I took my cat in two months ago I was able to go in ….it’s very frustrating.

I had just recently moved to the area and didn't know a vet. My dog was not himself, excessive water drinking, having accidents in the house, which NEVER happened before, and having to relieve himself about every two hours. He is 8 years old and has never been sick. I got a walk-in appointment that morning. After a number of tests were run, it was discovered my poor baby had developed diabetes ????. The vet assistant, Cassie, was great and instructed me how to give the insulin injections every 12 hours. And then watched me as I did it! Dr. Reed went over all the tests and results. Any and all questions were answered. I left the office with my fur baby feeling like I hit the lottery going to Helmwood Veterinary Clinic. Everyone there was so caring and helpful. Glad I was able to get an appointment and find a GREAT place for my pets. Thanks so very much to the whole staff ????!!!

Dr. Howell was thorough, caring, knowledgeable, and concerned with how to treat my cat. She went over every test that they would do and the prices. The other employees that helped with taking my cat initially inside to the doctor and bringing her back out to me were also very kind, professional and thorough. This was my cat's first visit.

Hands down the absolute best veterinarians All of the staff members as well so caring helpful. I have an older pup that they are so gentle with. My kitty is a year old and she doesnt even mind going to her checkups. I also have a new puppy that gets all the attention and dedication from the veterinary and the staff. Looking for a vet you can not go wrong here 100%

Wait time even past your appointment time is ridiculous. Waited 30 minutes PAST the appointment time and had to leave and try to reschedule it.

Amazing experience. While they may be pretty pricey, they definitely make up for it in the quality of care they provide. You get what you are paying for in the best way possible. PAW plans available as well. The first visit was pricey but with the pay plans they offer monthly payments for the preventative care. Love Helmwood!

Still texting when you arrive and you must have an appointment

We love Helmwood Veterinary . Yes, they may be a bit more expensive , we know when they have been seen and treated our fur babies, they have had a thorough exam and we know our babies are in good hands. When we go on vacation and board our dogs they have loving care. We love them!

Good people and price do good job on your pets

I know that when I call with a question that they will take care of us. I know that my four legged family member is top priority . This is the reason we return for everything that our baby needs.

Just to let y’all know, my pet passed away. Y’all wouldn’t know that because you didn’t care when I brought him in gasping for breaths and y’all didn’t care after to give me a call to check in. You have taken so much of my money and never cared about my pet. I wasted hours and hours in your parking lot only to bury my best friend. I had to ask you to run tests to figure out what was ailing him in the past. When i called you in desperation You had me pickup pills to torture my pet with giving because you didn’t want to see him when another vet welcomed my pet and gave my new pet an antibiotic shot instead. Long story short because I could go on for hours…helmwood you wasted my time, took my money, and did nothing to help my best friend whom I have since lost. I have lost my faith in the practice of veterinary medicine because of this place. IF YOU LOVE IT, TAKE YOUR PET ELSEWHERE.

The office staff went out of their way to work my pup in on a very busy day. Dr Reed was caring and gentle with my furball and took her time with me to explain the treatment required to get him back to his normal bouncy self.
