Team is very nice. Dr. Sweeley has been authentic at sharing real advice about how to handle different situations with our Havenese. I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a vet.

I was recommended by a family member, who has used Dr. Sweeley for a very long time. I was a bit nervous looking at the reviews, however I'm so happy I went here! The Dr. Sweeley is knowledgeable, to the point and thorough. A previous review stated their pet was taken away for vaccinations and their checkup. Allow me to clarify the reasoning, because that was concerning to see on a review for me. They separate the pet from the owner because the majority of pets are protective around their owners and that can be very dangerous for the person(s) handling the pet. I asked if my dog could be seen and vaccinated in the exam room and they had absolutely no problem with it! It is just a part of their procedure.

First I want to say that I typically do not post reviews online. But I feel the public needs to know about this veterinarian. I know this post is long but please if you care anything about your pets please continue to read my experience. I will begin with my last experience with this vet and what happened with my 2 dogs. The first one had injured his leg and was limping slightly by jumping off the furniture so I took him in to be examined. This vet had said it was minor and keeping him immobile and preventing him from jumping up and down from furniture he would get better (along with pain medicine he prescribed). Of course I noticed improvement in a week or so but there was still a noticeable limp so I took him back and then the vet said it would just take more time since he is older. No xrays were taken either time to see if there might have been any sign of a fracture, I asked about this and the vet said it wasnt necessary. I followed the recommendations and as time went on my dogs limp did NOT improve, in fact only got worse. I called several times to report his condition and all I got from the vet is him saying there was nothing visibly wrong that he could tell. Of course I'm no vet but I had a bad feeling and knew something wasnt quite right with being told by this vet everything was "normal". So, I decided to seek out a different veterinarian for another opinion but before I continue with the other vet and their diagnosis I will add the incident with my other pet. I had taken him in for a yearly routine checkup and shots. Was told that his teeth could use some cleaning so I scheduled and after the cleaning the vet had said he had a couple of cracked teeth, one of which he pulled and the other he told me it wasnt severe enough to extract but would keep an eye on it. The next yearly visit this vet said it looks about the same. Within a span of 3-4 months I noticed my dog rubbing at the left side of his face quite a bit and also noticed some scabbing in a very small spot. So I called and took him in, the vet looked at it and said the dog must have rubbed his face on the grass and was poked by something that was causing him to rub at it and just apply some cream to help it heal. He never once looked inside his mouth to see if it could have been that cracked tooth that was causing it (even though I mentioned it). I tried the cream to help the face wound heal but after another 2-3 months it wasnt healing, in fact it was getting worse. This is when I really started questioning the expertise and knowledge of this vet (Dr. Sweeley). It was nearing the time for their next yearly visit but the bad feeling I had with this vets practices made me seek out another one..... Please see my next post for the continued explanation since there is a character limit on this site for how much you can write

Continued from my review posted under bl since google has a character limitation and apparently you cannot post more than once under a business. Ok, so I found a new vet pretty quickly from a friends recommendation and took both of my dogs in for checkups (I told this new vet about the injury to my dogs leg, what the other vet recommended yet it was only getting worse) After an xray and doing a thorough physical she said it was not good and the xray was showing some signs of what probably was a slight fracture and because it was not treated properly that my dogs bones had pretty much fused together which caused a slight bend in his leg (permanent) which did not heal right because the lack of CORRECT treatment or diagnosis. So because it was not treated correctly (by Dr Sweeley) and the bone healed, unfortunately there is nothing that can be done other than meds. My dog still has a very severe limp which has caused him to have hip and back problems, yet again because of Dr Sweeleys failed treatment of my pet during the onset of the original injury. Now for my other pet: This new vet looked at my dog, the scabbing and open wound on his face and within minutes she said it was caused by an abscess. She looked into his mouth and said he had a severely cracked tooth that was causing the abscess and would need pulled and medication to clear up the infection caused by the abscess. He was also having some problems like a coughing and congestion; this vet said it could be from the infection which made its way into his lungs and heart but could clear up after the infection does. Well, we went ahead with the tooth extraction, cleaning and meds. A few weeks passed and he seemed to be doing well with the tooth removal and the wound on his face was healing. BUT his wheezing and coughing was not improving. So I took him back to this new vet and was told that more than likely the infected abscess had gotten so bad the infection spread to his lungs and his heart causing major heart issues. Again, because CCAH (Carmel Clay Animal Hospital) failed yet again to correctly diagnose my pets condition, this pet is left with a severe heart condition and breathing problems. I have spent in the thousands of dollars getting treatment for both of my pets due to CCAH negligence but my main complaint is not just about the money but a majority of these costs could have been avoided if CCAH (Dr. Sweeley) correctly examined and treated my pets to begin with. I know this is a very lengthy post but I really think people need to know of my experience and beware of the poor lack of care this vet is providing (better yet, what he is not providing) So PLEASE, if you really care about your fur babies as much as I do and want the quality of care they deserve. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take your animal to this vet!!! Instead, look for someone who will provide thorough exams and provide proper diagnosis and effective treatment.

Dr. Sweeley and his staff are the very BEST! Compassion and expertise. So glad we found him after our vet of 20 years retired. Our two cats and dog, all are rescue animals. Our dog has a lot of trauma and cannot have anyone approach his face. These people are truly amazing. Zeke loves them and we can get his shots etc done without any drama. THAT speaks volumes!

I have known Dr. Kerry Sweeley for probably more than 20 years now, and I trust him to know what he can do to help and when to send us to someone else. We love our animals as much as some love their children, so when we recommend Kerry to family and friends it is not done lightly. His staff has been the best too. We will do business with Dr. Sweeley as long as he will be willing to help our pets.

I took my dog in this week for her yearly physical and yearly shots. The first issue I have is that the shots were never given to her in front of the owner so you can’t confirm that they were done. Second it is her yearly physical: eyes, heart, breathing, joints, ears weren’t checked as far as I know because they weren’t done in front of me. She is still young but if I am paying $207.00 for her yearly check up I would think she would actually get checked. Not she looks good and seems health. Don’t we all get a yearly physical to prevent further issues even as children? The staff is nice but dogs don’t live long and get issues faster than humans. Therefore I would think that someone would actually check her. Just my thought.

Dr Sweeley and his staff are excellent. We moved to Carmel two years ago and finding a vet we could trust and count on to take the best possible care of our furry four legged baby has been a real blessing.

Dr. Sweeley and his staff are wonderful. We have gone to West Clay Animal Hospital for the last 6 years since moving to Carmel. I never feel rushed when I talk with Dr. Sweeley and I feel like he always gives top notch treatment to our dog. We are usually to get in for an appointment in a timely manner, and always quickly when we have an emergency.

We have taken our two beloved pets to a couple of vets and Carmel Clay have far been the best. They are caring and give sound, practical advice about your pets. The best news are that they are close to our home, which is great since our dogs do not like riding in a car. If you love your pets, you should give them a try.

We've been using this vet for a few years. They are honest and truly care about their patients! Their prices are very reasonable and I've always felt they had my pet's best interest in mind.
