found a poor kitten today & had called in to see if there was any space for her because I couldn’t keep her since I have animals of my own. The woman who picked up was so sweet and very understanding. however I already felt before I came in that they weren’t happy with me coming because as the woman who answered went to the back to see if they had available cages before she returned to the phone you could hear the background the entire time and I heard “I know but she has dogs” which I was assuming was in regards to me because my dog was barking on the call. however I put it aside and came in. The woman who took care of me was rude and unwelcoming. She was ordering others around so I presume she is somewhat in charge. She took me into a supply closet to examine the cat and overall just had a nasty tone. She not only told me once but twice that if I knew this cat that their lawyers “would find out and they know how to find things”. This was all before I had signed the paper. I understand that some people do take advantage of this option to wave fees, but that is not a reason to pass attitude and assumptions onto those who actually just don’t want to see cats on the streets. Had I been able to provide the kitten with a home and proper care I would’ve kept it but I now have to regret my decision of surrendering such a sweet thing to an unwelcoming environment. For the animals sake I really do hope that the rest of the staff that I didn’t have a pleasure of speaking to carry the same care that the woman I spoke to on the phone had. She was the only positive part of the experience.

I never write bad reviews but this made me extremely upset. I applied to adopt a cat and got rejected because I live four states away (fair enough) but I called to explain that me and my fiance are LDR and I'd be there in a few days to "gift" him the kitten. This lady not only cut me off several times, lied to me about the email, was rude to me and just acted like I was committing a crime by bringing a cat home to my fiance (who has owned cats his entire life)?? I was speechless and just said uh okay and then she hung up. It's very hard for me to call organizations as I suffer from anxiety and this made it so much worse. Whoever answered from the front desk is a very bitter woman and shouldn't be working there if she's gonna treat people terribly for wanting to adopt. I love animals and to insinuate I was being a terrible person by bringing an animal home to my family where it'll be loved while I'm away at university is humiliating.

They were rude and made the experience aggravating. Its literally a bunch of white women judging everyone and making things harder than they need to be. One older lady in particular was trying to talk to me like a chold and it took everything in me not to curse them all out. Apparently they dont allow black people to adopt pet without difficulty.

The receptionist was absolutely awful and lacked basic manners. I’ve never been spoken to in such a condescending way before in my life. Looking at previous reviews, I’m not the only one who has had a problem with their unfriendliness and lack of professionalism. NAWS in Mokena was so much more helpful and kinder.

Horrible place. They collect "applications" on animals like it's a lottery. I truly believe they have no intention of finding homes for these animals, just want to take donations. The way potential adopters are treated very poorly, like criminals. Volunteers are rude. Horrible place.

Had me wait for a whole week.. every other day they emailed me one or two questions.. my problem is, they had me wait a whole week. The place is under staff, which might explain why they are rude. To be honest I feel sorry for them. So it is what it is. I will pray for them n hope for the best…

I don't think the staff is very nice to people. I drove a hour and a half in hopes of seeing a dog I put a application in for. Basically I was turned away. They just said they were too busy. I would've been a great home

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I came in two days ago to look at cats, was not planning to adopt that day. Just to look. The lady at the desk REFUSED to allow me to look at cats. She was SO rude and bitter and gave me a disgusting attitude. U can tell she is just a bitter person. Mind you, i was there a week before. I called AHEAD of time to see if i can come in, told them i would be there around 4 and if that was okay, they said that was fine. Got there and they were closed. So i went again, the lady at the front desk gave me so many unnecessary excuses that her own coworker saw how difficult she was being towards me and said that it was okay for me to look. The lady at the front desk still did not allow me to look, i dont know what her problem was exactly. For those looking to adopt at a nice shelter and that has GOOD customer service, i recommend going to N.A.W.S. They treated me so nice and kind! They also take great care of their animals. Its 2 mins away from this horrible shelter. I Feel so bad for those animals that have to put up with people like that everyday! Side note- the shelter needs to fire that rude lady at the front desk, all the negative reviews are about her!

Awful place to TRY and adopt from. Not only are they rude and lack basic skills of communication, but they also lie. If they have no intention of adopting out an animal to you they just ignore you and lie. I wanted to adopt a black kitten from them and they said they would let me know when he’s up for adoption. He was never put on their site and I saw him before he was even ready for adoption due to him being on medication. I finally received an email stating he’s been adopted. They questioned if i lived with my parents even though on my application I specifically I own my home. It took weeks, tons of phone calls, multiple emails just to hear back from them. I never even got a definitive answer if my application was approved or denied. There are many other places that have staff that answer your questions and actually care about adopting out their animals. I wouldn’t recommend to even try to adopt here.

This place is NOT a no kill shelter…..don’t let them fool you. Tried to take four kittens that were around my house….I was told they are too feral. They were10 /12 weeks old and scared. They man-handled them and scared them more. They said not adoptable and to let them go or they need to be euthanized. They offered no help for TNR ….. Euthanized was her first choice ????. Also I was told they have no vet available to them…… this place honestly has no business dealing with animals. Most uncaring people and Absolute WORST experience of my life! I wish I could give less than worst than 1star! I’m SHOCKED this place comes up on a google for.NO-KILL shelter. Please beware if you really need help!

We found a dog we would truly love to adopt but we're told that we can't -- why?? Because we live 60 miles away - not 50! We are more than willing to travel the 60 miles to get this dog! Truly disappointing ???? ???? ????

Don't know what everyone else is whining about, was able to adopt a dog earlier this month and had no problems with staff or the process. Khora (previously Karma) is doing great by the way!

Staff was really friendly and attentive to any questions we had while at the shelter. The adoption process is self explanatory and we are very happy with our adoption.

After taking in a stray overnight we brought the orange cat to them. We wanted to keep him of course. Staff was so courteous and friendly. Let us know we can call and check on him too. Our 4 year old named him P.J. Thank you for your kindness.

Out of all the places I have been to adopt this is by far the worst.on this day 11th of July the minute my family walked in we were greated by a very angry old lady.the visit lasted 2 minutes since we were talked to in such a rude manner the minute we walked in I thanked her and told her we will look someplace else.I strongly recommend people try the many other adoption sites

WE APPLIED TO ADOPT A KITTEN ON SATURDAY AND WE WERE CONTACTED BY PAWS TINLEY PARK ABOUT OUR OTHER PETS. AFTER SOME FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS AND VET INFORMATION WE RECEIVED A CALL WITH APPROVAL TO VISIT THEIR LOCATION TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION PROCESS ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON . THE STAFF WAS COMPLETELY OUTGOING AND WELCOMING. THEY ALLOW US TO VIEW ALL OF THE AVAILABLE KITTENS AND PROVIDED DETAIL INFORMATION ON EACH. WE WERE NEVER RUSHED OR PRESSURED WITH OUR SELECTION PROCESS. AFTER AWHILE WE MADE OUR DECISION. THE PAPERWORK WAS ALL COMPLETED, KITTEN ALREADY HAD ITS FIRST SET OF SHOTS AND WAS NEUTERED. THE PROCESS WAS SO STREAMLINE AND EASY. WE ARE SO GLAS THAT WE DECIDED TO SAVE TWO KITTENS, ONE BY ADOPTION AND MAKING ROOM FOR ANOTHER IN ITS PLACE. THANK YOU PAWS TINLEY PARK YOU HAVE BEEN GREAT…

A complete nightmare trying to view several pets. Lady last week was so crabby on the phone and rude. Replies back via email horrible. Before they even allow you in, they treat you like they automatically know you are not a good fit.
