Hands down the best exotic animal hospital in town. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and they take great care of my animals when I come.

My birds love going here they know that everyone that works their loves their job and the critters they take care of. My cockatoo will give Dr Horton birdie kisses and also to Lamore the lady who runs the front office. It feels good to have your birds want to go there even if well. I have been to other vets who treat birds and this is the best worth the drive .

Lamore, the office manager, is a rude, ignorant person who needs a major attitude adjustment. She's extremely mean and snippy for no apparent reason, I think she may have anger issues. I emailed Dr. Horton, the physician who owns the practice, about my unfortunate encounter with Lamore and received absolutely no response or apology whatsoever. They had no problem taking the $650 for my turtle's appointment though. Real compassion people. If you don't want to deal with the so called office manager, I advise you take your pet elsewhere.

Max had stasis and was pretty sick when we were referred to Chicago exótics. He's since recovered from that and put back on all his weight, he has developed other age related issues but he still popcorns and lives relatively happy thanks to the care he gets from the wonderful people at Chicago exotics.

Chicago Exotics has been amazing with our little Nut We acquired a very sick hedgehog. They diagnosis her many illness. While helping us understand the ongoing care she will now need. Our little hedgie is now doing great. Thank you!!!

I first visited them back in June or July. The prices were fairly reasonable. They are also good at communicating with you about your pet and your options about treatment. They treated my turtles ????, and they have been doing good at letting me know what is going on with them. They let you go inside the office or stay in your car. The people coming out of the facility always seem happy with their interactions with the vet techs and the Veterinarians and the treatment as well as with the care their babies are receiving.

We've been coming here with our pets for the last six years. They've always been extremely kind, professional, and compassionate (they care about us, as well as our pets) and their prices are very reasonable. We won't ever go anywhere else. We've always had a positive experience with Dr. Moy, Lamor, all of the techs (especially Bartleby's favorite, Noelle), and everyone else who works there.

I've taken my bird Hank to a multitude of vets. He is so important to me that I will only bring him to the best of the best. Out of all of the veterinary offices that I have brought him to, Chicago Exotics is by far the best. They specialize in exotic pets, and I can confidently say they they are the most knowledgeable and trustworthy office. They have identified issues that no other vet has noticed, and after at least 10 visits within the past year, the staff has proven to be consistently kind and dedicated to providing Hank with the best possible care. Exotic pet specialists are uncommon, and as someone who puts my bird's wellbeing before anything, I praise Chicago Exotics for being a veterinary office that will provide better care than just about any clinic in the state could offer.

Very kind and loving veterinarians

During curbside pickup the technician loves swinging around all animals including the little ones that are lighter to carry, turns out she is the manager. When she was confronted she claimed she loves all animals and didn’t intend to swing and bump while entering building. Then she refused writing the prescription to my friend’s guinea pigs while they were trying to switch vet because of horrible treatment of our pets there. I continued to get my guinea pig treated there even after the incident. Once I booked an appointment that someone else had canceled with them. The day of the appointment they changed my appointment time and claimed that’s the appointment time they give me and I misheard, mind you I always ask twice to verify. Also given that I have brought my guinea pig for about 6 months like twice every month. Never been late or missed an appointment even though they live 1 hour and 30 minutes without traffic. Doctor were nice but my guinea pig was not improving. I took him to Ness exotics and they did nose culture and found out that Chicago exotics did a bad job of doing the culture because they didn’t go deep enough to find the bacteria that’s been typically found in dogs. My guinea pig is not around dogs at all. I don’t know anyone with a dog so this bacteria has been growing and that’s why their medications weren’t working. My guinea pig was on antibiotics plus 4 other medications for about 6 months. If you love your animal find a different vet because they are after your money and does not care about them

They were able to get my bird in for an emergency and they are so thorough.

The people here are wonderful. They are intuitive to their customers' needs and are very accommodating. Loved the constant communication with the vet and staff. I recommend this location for your pet!

This is the vet I have used for 9 years to treat my baby bunnies! They have helped me through gastrointestinal scares and nail trimmings. They love my little babies like they are their own and give such incredible care. One of my late bunnies had to be kept their overnight for a few nights and I was so happy they kept me up to date on her progress! During the pandemic, they had a handoff process that felt very comfortable as well. Thank you to the Chicago Exotics Team! Yall are amazing!!

It's a small clinic full of very kind and understanding staff. I went there to let my pet go, and I felt very comforted all throughout the process. Would recommend!

I will never go to Chicago exotics again!! First bad experience I had with them was about 4 years ago when my first rabbit was having kidney failure. They decided to spay her and put it on my bill without asking me first!!! Okay I let that one go cause I really needed help with my new rabbit…. NOW they diagnosed my rabbit with anemia when he really has a thyroid issue. Their are way better exotic places out there and near here. If you care for your pets health, consider a different exotic clinic.

This is the best exotic pet hospital! They're great about taking emergency appointments when a lot of other exotic vets in the area are booked out 1-2 weeks. They are knowledgeable, kind, helpful, and do a great job with pet care. This is my new home vet for my Western Hognose snake and they've done a wonderful job assessing her health and gently taking care of her. Cannot recommend Chicago Exotics enough.

I used Chicago Exotics to care for our hedgehog over the past few years. The staff were always wonderful, knowledgeable, and the services affordable (vet care is expensive generally but their prices were on the more affordable side). The experience that has really solidified things was when our hedgehog needed to cross the rainbow bridge. The staff were so compassionate in allowing us as much time as needed to be with our pet prior to the euthanasia; checked in occasionally to see how we were doing, but ultimately respected our space and time with our beloved pet. Additionally, they offered a beautiful paw print keepsake and were so kind with the process of picking up her ashes. The next time we have a hedgehog or other exotic pet, we definitely plan to return to Chicago Exotics.

I absolutely recommend this place to anyone especially people that have exotic animals and are unsure of where to bring their pet, this place has the experience. The people at this hospital were so incredibly kind and helpful! My baby Brazilian rainbow boa started making noises while breathing indicating mucus and I took immediate action, they did some scans and prescribed antibiotics. Even helping me book my check up in three week immediately. The antibiotics were in shot form and someone even went out of their way by coming out to my car and showed me how to give her the shots which immediately relived my stress. All I have t say is that I recommend this animal hospital to anyone and everyone!

Take great care of my bunnies. Everyone is great and knowledgeable.

I am a hedgehog rescuer. I take in 20-40 hedgehogs a year, many of them in need of medical attention. The doctors, techs and staff of this clinic are the very best. They care about pet parents and pets. They have a conservative but thorough approach and allow me to be part of the process. If you feel you’ve been treated poorly by anyone in this clinic, then you are not approaching them with courtesy and respect. “Please” and “thank you” goes a long way snd it goes both ways. If you’re calling a staff member “karen”, maybe you’re projecting and need to take a good long look at yourself and how you’re treating people. The pandemic has increased stress for everyone- particularly in the veterinary services. Keeping the staff safe so they can continue to help pets. Clients need to respect their protocols. I have been a client here since June 2009 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’m so lucky to be a part of their family.

I am so sorry to leave this place as nurses and drs are super sweet, but i will not take the abusive triggering behavior of lamor, she started screaming at me bc I confused the policy even though i walked in in a n95 masked. She seems like a very miserable person. I’ve worked 17 years in customer service and never yelled at anyone. She’s a true raging Karen. The reason why i am never coming back is because despite many bad reviews mentioning her specifically, this problem does not seem to be addressed by whoever owns the place. I go to drs office weekly bc I have an elderly mother and have never encountered anyone as rude as lamor, i m literally afraid to call or take my pet there. I am so sorry but refuse to put up with her abusive behavior. If this place thinks that’s acceptable, I don’t and the only thing I can do to protect my mental health from abusive behavior is take my money elsewhere, I’ve been coming for 4 years putting up with this rude woman who even my husband that went there only once to pick up meds noticed that she’s awful. It’s time when enough is enough.

The front desk staff is very unprofessional, I’m scared to call in fear of one staff member short temper, I don’t understand why they will not address this issue. The doctors are professional, the the front desk experience leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I will transfer care of my animal to another veterinary facility that has a front desk staff and manager that care about the customer. Unfortunately, the manager there has a combative attitude compared to a typical Karen.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Lamore is utterly unprofessional when speaking to her clients, completely disregards the worries an owner might have about their pet and responds with attitude while talking over them. She remains biased towards people she has chosen to give her “kindness” to without knowing the actual situation. After reading the vast amount of reviews other people have left about Lamore, I know this has been a constant problem within this practice. Please do better Chicago Exotics Animal House. Listen to your target audience.

heights. Could have told me Saturday he was gonna need surgery but no they had him suffer over the weekend to finally do surgery Monday. They knew what was wrong and wanted to go home not emergency surgery

I have no problem with the doctors their but the manager should be fired! I have 4 complaints about her but that’s too long if I have to write it down. My main concern is that the quantity of meds/antibiotics that they give you is less so that you will have to get refills from them and only from them because the prescription says Refills: 0. This way they can charge you double. What a scam!!!

Great doctors for emergency situations.

Worst experience ever! Must pay ahead for the two to three week out appointment. Asked if they had received records for our pet and were told "I don't know". Asked to be sure they have records and the clerk stormed off. The adults who work there evidently get their "feelings hurt" when asked to be accountable. Rather than communicate directly that their feelings were hurt which is not businesslike anyway, they run to other staff and use a one-sided story to support being spiteful and therefore unprofessional and uncaring to their customers. Sad, but true. Would never recommend the place for that reason and I'll bet they never take the time to look at the reviews and reflect on how to improve. Unprofessional behavior and they act full of themselves, too busy to care. They should allow additional time for appointments so they do not have to rush people through. Then again, maybe that's the point, all about the money.
