Thinking of an adoption. We were assisted by a very nice young woman named Lou. Fantastic experience. We hope to complete an adoption with this group shortly.

Our adoption of Frankie was beyond seamless, and the staff was incredibly friendly. This is a wonderful place that helps save animals.

Super friendly and helpful. They make a great effort to set the right dog up with the right home and vice versa.

We found a stray cat and tried to find his owner for weeks. We even took him to the local clinic to see if he had a microchip but he didn’t. I called the Romeoville police department and their terrible attitude didn’t let me trust them when they told me they could “pick him up, so he won’t bother you”... So I tried the Humane Society because they are know for being “humane” and caring for animals... well, first if all they never answered the phone... so I sent them a message through their website, and when I finally received an answered, they just sent me a link about “how to take care of a stray cat”. As if I wouldn’t know how to take care of a cat. They just turned away and send links because apparently they think people aren’t able to search for those things on the web themselves. I expected more from them honestly. This cat is suffering in the bitter cold. We tried to keep him inside the house but it was very difficult as we already have 3 cats. He needs a true home, he is extremely friendly and he only needs love and someone who can adopt him. Thanks for nothing Humane Society. This is Disappointing.

The best staff! They really go above and beyond with care and support of our fur babies and all other animals. I love this care center and they made sure my cat, Charlie, was comfortable and taken care of on his visit. They also helped diagnose and treat his thyroid issues. Thank you so much for all your concern, support, and love you give to us all.

We got our wonderful Vex ( male, pit bull ) from here. They are very helpful, kind, and appear to love the animals in their care. The grounds are very clean. I would adopt from here again.

WORST experience Ever!! I went and brought not one but two puppies from local pet stores. True a lot of money but was totally worth it! These people have a bad way of doing business and that is all that this place is!! It's not about getting these animals a great home. It's about looking after themselves. STAY AWAY!! Wish I had listened to others advice!

This place (Shorewood Humane Society.)Thier staff not so friendly Racist.the moment my wife & I walk in. however, as they say that this place is for Non-profit and their base on voluntary work. They want you !? to donate $499 for a Shih Tzu mix breed named Keith. who I believed was taken from his hometowns Kentucky. Who I was told he was a stray & no chip on him. Now?! Keith seem that he was well kept and lost his way and the animal control dognapped him. From Kentucky.???? & Now???!!! They selling him for $499.00 plus they want you to sign a bunch of medical stuff, training and other things. When we decline their medical fee, we can him training for less than what they asked.because we can purchase those somewhere else for a less. (We )my spouse and I are Asian too. We were told by Walker (volunteer.) that we’re the first to sign up for Keith. Then, now? They send us email that they found another home. before we saw the email. My wife already, felt we didn’t get Keith. I know that we can give Keith a good loving home. We have a huge backyard and he will be trained.

Very helpful and friendly staff. I've never been to a humane society before, but having went has opened my eyes to the need for these facilities.

I adopted a cat recently. The whole adoption process was a little annoying because I a had to go back there multiple times with my family. But in the end it was worth it.

I guess if you live in Galena IL you out of luck. We had to put down our 11 y.o. german shepard-shepard mix due to leukemia. I looked all over and found winston who looks exactly like our dog and was told YOU CANNOT ADOPT from us because you.live in Galena Il. We are great dog people. We have invisable fense back yard plus 50 x 20 deck plus 3 to 5 walks a day plus run of our house. We even have an LL BEAM MEMORY BED. Go elsewhere don't waste your time with these people. They call themselves a humane society. What a big joke.

My family and I went in to adopt a kitty for our daughters birthday. Staff was quite rude initially. Friendly Up a bit not much. But what the the real problem is when we got declined for adoption and how rude they were about it. We have never had a cat and didn’t know that declawing was looked down upon. Just grew up in family with declawed cats. So we said we wouldn’t declaw her and they said there was “nothing” they could do and that we could never apply there again. For one question we didn’t know about and to ruin my daughters birthday. Thanks ???????? Keep “giving” pets new homes. ????????‍♂️

I got my Quito (Chiquito) from here in 2005 . This place was a very caring environment they provide for pets. Quito was well trained and friendly. Best dog i ever owned was from the Shorewood Humane Society! If I get another dog i will definitely go back. Larry and his crew are/were very nice people.

Nice clean facility, polite, friendly staff and some really cute animals ready to find new homes. Unfortunately my wife wasn't on board with adopting a puppy... nothing wrong with the choices available.

This is truly the best humane shelter in all of Will County, I highly recommend this shelter for animal adoptions and periodically special events.

I found a dog late at night, I called the next day to see what my options were. He was so skinny and malnourished I couldn’t leave him on the streets. They said to bring him to see if he had a chip. I brought him in and due to his condition they felt compelled to help him and brought him to the back. The staff truly cares for animals.

The women i met here at this animal rescue were super friendly and professional. Today at work a man came in with a kitten about 4 weeks old and told me he found him on route 59. He said if I didn't take the kitten he would throw him back on the street I ended up taking him in. The kitten was dirty and had some matting on his chest so I took him home and got the matts out of his chest and washed him and fully groomed him. I was going to keep him but my cat I had in the house already was not friendly so I knew I couldn't keep him. I called a few rescues and no one would take him. I was given will county humane society's number by shorewood animal hospital they told me that they were not a kill shelter! I was super happy when I was told that. So i called them up 1 hour before they close and i spoke to a woman named Kim. She told me come asap! I arrived 20 minutes before they actually close, they were super knowledgeable, professional and super kind with the kitten. As I signed the surrender forms for the kitten i knew I made the right decision to bring the kitten to this loving and caring animal shelter! Thank you so much ladies for taking in the kitten.
