Was a 12 year customer I won't be going back. 2 of my 3 dogs were there recently there for rabies shots and exam. Both dogs got sick from the rabies shot. Diarrhea and vomiting for days afterwards. This had never happened before until VCA …

My cat is completely paralyzed and not even blinking. Still breathing though. I just wanted to know if he is suffering right now or if he would even make it the half hour to get euthanized. She cut me off to tell me that I couldn't get an appointment til 5 and when I asked if I could just ask one question so I know whether to allow my cat to die peacefully at home...or if by some miracle he could be saved. Not one ounce of empathy or concern in her voice she kept cutting me off in a cheerdul voice. No...you Cant talk to anyone. (We don't care about anything unless we get paid) and we . Isn't this a place for emergencies??? The woman who answeres the phone is HORRIBLE at her job. She should do something completely emotionally unattached lile her personality. Selling car insurance maybe?

I have been using VCA for all my pets' needs throughout the years, but this location has by far had the most unfriendly staff toward myself and my dog. Will definitely be avoiding this location in the future.

We brought in our kitty, Reefer, because he’s feeling under the weather. We are so thankful you could fit us in on a couple hours notice. Very friendly staff. Dr. Bufton is great. I really appreciated not feeling pressured into paying for anything I wasn’t sure about. They took the time to answer all my questions. Wonderful, stress free experience.

I wish I could not even give that 1 star but google won’t let me change it.. the front desk literally need to learn their job profile.. i call for an emergency and the front desk is like try calling after a week if there is a space to get my pet for a check up.. it’s not like that my pet is a first time patient at VCA, in fact we did all his vaccinations, meds etc at VCA..the front desk is advising me to check for other hospitals around as if I ain’t aware of them.. I called VcA because because I’ve been getting my pet since he was a pup..the worst front desk response I’ve ever heard from a vet hospital… when they need to sell you their products they will call u everyday and fix an appointment without any issues.. very disappointed…

Brought our very sick cat here. They recommended she be put down, which we completely agreed with, least they didn't try expensive unnecessary treatments. Our cat was very ill and weak, 5#s it took 3 shots, horrible 15-20 minutes waiting for her to be at peace.

Today was our first visit at VCA Schaumburg Animal Hospital, the doctor that took care of my dog was great , I didn’t get a chance to meet her in person but she took time to explain everything over the phone and was very informative. My dog also had a blood work done that day and I was supposed to wait for the results after the weekend but the doctor called me at the end of the day with his lab results already in and she took time to explain everything . It’s also nice that the clinic sends all the lab results of your pet to your email . My dogs DVM of today was April Bufton ( super nice ). All the front desk and technicians were very nice as well. Great first experience!

After a 2 hour wait for another Emergency Vet(we were told it would be another 2+ hours), we called VCA Schaumburg and we were glad we did. From the initial phone call they were professional and responsive. When we arrived they immediately took Shane, our Pitty Mix, back and within 10 minutes we were talking to Dr. Dymek. She explained everything and made sure we were comfortable with what tests she recommended and with the treatment plan. We were made to feel at ease from start to finish. I cannot Thank the Doc and her staff enough. All are top notch in my book. I would have NO PROBLEM recommending and referring to VCA Schaumburg.

I adopted a puppy from PAWS in February & had her post adoption check up here- Gosh dang it, I seriously want to move to Schaumburg just so I can have these guys as my home vet! They are fantastic, very friendly, very helpful. I didn’t feel stupid, talked down to, or like a bad pet mom like I’ve been made to feel at other vets. And my pup loved them too! Highly highly recommend.

Being going to VCA for few few years now but today was the worst experience and will not be going back with my dogs, there any more the reason was I made an appointment to have my Yorkie Terrier checked for a little bump that it just came out and my dog scratched it and was bleeding so they take it in and Dr Karmenleen Bejwa had no clue of what the problem was all he did was read the notes from previous visit and said that thaw bump could of been from one of the tooth’s being crack and that was it for the visit and he just said just keep an eye on it was sending my dog back until I asked him if he was going to give me any medication for infection or something and he responded that would be a good idea but he only did it cause I requested, then he said that he couldn’t check his mouth cause the dog wouldn’t let him, the dog is 4LBS and 12 years old how can a Vet say that ,the dog was in for about 5 mins and front desk lady was very unprofessional calls me and gives me a bill for $85.00 and I asked to have charges explained she got upset even worst when I asked her about the dr not being able to check he’s teeth and she tells me if I was going to pay for the medical expenses In case the doctor was Bit by my dog, first off all he is a Vet should be a profesional so I finally received the text for payment and made payment and I went to get my dog and she was just there ignoring me made me wait 10 mins standing in the cold pretending to be doing something so I called the VCA number and she ignores my call finally some other lady from back walks up to the door and got my dog. That would be my last time going there. BE AWARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE WORKING THERE.

Dr. Joseph is absolutely wonderful. I initially met him when I had submitted a question through the VCA app and the technician who received my question could not help me. I received a call the next day from Dr. Joseph who had offered to help answer my question. Mind you, he did not have to do this and was not getting paid for his time. Unfortunately due to COVID pet owners are not allowed inside of the VCA hospitals right now. For that reason I had been taking my dog to another vet that would allow me to go inside because I did not feel comfortable not being able to go inside with my dog. However, after speaking to Dr. Joseph on the phone I knew that my dog would be in good hands with him and receive the best care possible. I could not be happier that I decided to make an appointment with him. Dr. Joseph is so patient and kind. He takes the time to get a very detailed history from you regarding your pet and then thoroughly explains his examination findings and recommendations. He takes the time to ensure you understand things and takes the time to answer all of the questions that you may have. He does not make you feel bad for asking questions. After every question you ask him he follows it up with “what other questions do you have?” I could not be happier with the care Dr. Joseph has provided and will continue to bring all of my pets to him. Thank you, Dr. Joseph!

My oldest dog suddenly stopped eating and became lethargic. VCA Schaumburg was able to accommodate us quickly and their COVID-19 procedures are easy to understand and follow. Follow-up appointments were easy to schedule as well. Lab results were communicated to us quickly and on the weekend. Cost was good. Ultimately, we have had to say goodbye to our oldest dog and the VCA team helped make those final days and the aftercare for our pet as peaceful as possible. Thank you to Dr. Joanna, Dr. Mead, and the rest of the VCA Schaumburg staff.

Such mean staff members. Especially yesterday at my morning appointment for my dog. The vet tech had the audacity to yell her opinion on my dogs retractable leash and said “you need to get a real leash” when my dog was doing nothing at all but sitting right next to me. I could care less about people not liking retractable leashes, and if you have an opinion about it, you can tell me but at a professional level. Gossiping to your fellow coworkers about it and yelling at me is completely unprofessional. Also, the prices have skyrocketed and half of their practice is leaving. Yesterday will be my last appointment with them and I’ll be going somewhere else. My appointment lasted 2 minutes, they drew blood, and did their physical assessment on my dog in the back. they use to also do their physical assessments with the owners present in the room. The lack of care has just gone down.

Dr. Nicolas Heidtbrink has been treating both of my cats. I can't emphasize enough on how I'm glad and feel safe about professionalism and steps he takes every time when I have to go there. He is listening and fully understands in details what's happening regardless on how long and complicated the story is. I appreciate so much his suggestions, work and huge effort and care he puts in every patient. My kitties are lucky to have Dr. Nicolas ????

My family is so grateful for the doctors and assistance that work here. Our Milo was diagnosed with cancer and has his toe removed. It's taking awhile to heal. They have been beyond great making him a priority. THANK YOU!

If you had asked me a year ago, I would have given 5 stars in a heartbeat. Since Drs. Bloomberg left the practice, I feel as though they lost an important level of patient (and owner) care. We have 2 dogs that went to them regularly. In early September, We brought in our 7 year old, 40 lb dog because she had been limping on and off for about a week. They said it's probably just arthritis and prescribed an NSAID. We also ordered a treat with glucosamine and chondroitin to help if this were the case. A week later, the symptoms had not really improved, so we called back. At this point, with limping still present, one would think that an X-ray may be a good idea. This was never suggested by the vet. Instead we were told they would write a new prescription for the NSAID and to call back when done with our supplement, and she'd prescribe the same stuff. After another 5 days of no improvement, we went and got a second opinion from another vet. He was flat appalled that an x-ray wasnt ordered on the first visit to establish a baseline, let alone after the limping continued after the first prescription for the NSAID was empty. I understand being conservative, but this seems to wave goodbye to conservative and appears outright neglectful. It would've been nice to have been told 3 weeks earlier that there was a lump on her shoulder that was causing this in order to catch it earlier. Suffice it to say, our pet care will be taken elsewhere. The staff was always very, very kind. The hours of service were great. So was the ability to get answers and directions for simple ailments, but I can't get past the wasted 3+ weeks for "arthritis" (in a 7 year old, healthy weight mid-size dog under 45 lbs) when it was something far more serious that we weren't able to act on quickly. We, as dog owners, rely on veterinarians and their staff to advise us of options and provide us with the correct guidance on the proper steps to take to keep our family members happy and healthy. Now we are out an additional couple weeks to see a specialist and confirm what is believed to be bone cancer. Maybe I'm writing this review because of the emotions that are extremely raw, but I'd happily have coughed up a few hundred dollars when we first brought her in limping to get an x-ray done, however that wasn't even suggested. Maybe the ultimate outcome doesn't change, but 3 weeks is a long time when it comes to the Big C in dogs. I think back to that first visit in early September and then I do the math on appointment timing since that date and realize we would have already had all of our answers and preliminary exams done and it makes my blood boil.

I am very happy with VCA Schaumburg Animal Hospital. I originally came here because the hours fit my schedule and I had a poor experience elsewhere. I found the staff to be very helpful, responsive and friendly each and every visit. The staff runs the business very efficiently and I experienced very little wait time for all my pet's appointments. Dr. Joe was great and explained all treatment options regarding my cat's condition. I would recommend this team of professionals to anyone who is looking for first rate care for their pet.

The entire staff of the VCA Animal Hospital showed me and Valentino so much compassion ???? and genuine care ❤ . Over NYE my beautiful black mainecoon had no appetite but he was definitely dehydrated and thirsty. I was shocked because he LOVED food and so I knew I had to search for a vet. I couldn't find any available animal hospitals near me that were accepting new patients. The only places available would have charged me over $165 for an emergency visit. As Valentino seemed to be in pain while eating I realized he must be at the end of his natural lifespan. I had truly hoped he'd live up to his 17th birthday for this coming February 21st but sadly I had to put him down yesterday afternoon. The front desk honored my free vet visit for first-time clients and they also accept credit care here. The vet assistant Kristin took my beautiful Valentino in her arms and after the Dr. Renee Mead examined my beauty she acknowledged what I already knew...he was dying and she felt his tummy and noticed my baby had multiple cysts or tumors in his bladder indicating he had bladder cancer. Instead of making me feel guilty about not noticing his silent illness she shared that it probably would have been too late to operate given his age and not having caught this on time. I still feel awful so obviously I had a few good, cathartic cries here and they gave me time to cuddle and photograph Valentino before euthanizing him. They let me be alone with him and when I was emotionally ready I also had a brief chat with Dr. Joseph DeSa who also comforted me. Every individual i spoke to at the front desk and even Beth who called me today absolutely loves animals and has such empathy for their patients and clients that you will be assured of the best care for your pet. Tomorrow I pick up Valentino's paw print ???? because I decided against keeping his ashes. I wish to thank the entire staff here for allowing me to grieve freely and openly without judgment and for providing such loving tenderness to my Valentino during his passing.

Since the old Doctors left, the place hasn’t been the same .. the old vets husband and wife were great!! The new doctor so insensitive, my dog has a heart mummer, have known about it for a while we treat him and have had him on his meds for the years and he is doing great,,, I had to make an appointment to get X-rays just a check up to make sure his big heart is still doing good,, well the doctor called me to schedule an appt and how he spoke to me was very very wrong,, the way he. Insinuated about my dogs heart mummer and that I said he was doing good his normal self and the doctor responded with “well that’s ok considering his really bad heart condition,, just Insinuating like my dog shouldn’t be doing good I duno it was very in heart felt ... then my husband brings in for his appt. for his X-rays ,, and he had just told the doctor how he made me feel when talking to me about my dog on the phone and instead of apologizing he just says well I read his chart while talking to her and what she thinks he about gonna live forever ,, unreal that he said that to my husband ,, then he asked to bring our dog out and give us our refills medication so he could leave , cause he was angry with the doctor obviously and then they refused to give my husband the medication for our dog,,, which he has to take every day ,, cause he wouldn’t calm down ,, end of story the old doctors were more then great and always made me feel like my dog was taken care of and cared for while in there hands now the doctors just aren’t like how they were ,, I’m switching vets now just wish the husband and wife vets were still there ,, that animal hospital USE To be wonderful just isn’t anymore ,,,

And I would give it a 0 if I could. I can not believe that after a severe storm, and a power outage. I was running 15 min Late with my 15 year old Australian Cattle dog. They said NO. It would put the vet off schedule for the rest of the day. What if this was an emergency???? At the ripe old age of 15 my dog means a lot to me and after 10 years with VCA I am highly disappointed with the service. I'll find some one who cares.

PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS REVIEW!!! Im very upset with this vet. DONT COME HERE! My boyfriend and I had bought a pit bull puppy and decided to take him to this vet for his first vaccinations especially since this place had 5 stars at the time. The vet technicians were very nice and same with the receptionists but not so much the actual veterinarian. We took our puppy in and the vet wanted to listen to his heart. She didn’t even listen for a second and said “He has a very strong heart murmur” little did she know i have one myself and know what one is. She said that he had a few opinions and they were definitely ridiculous! Keep in mind we have had this dog for about a week and a half and are absolutely attached to him and love him. She had the audacity to tell us that our opinions were to get rid of him or return him/exchange him or to get a cardiologist as soon as possible which she said are $500. She must be crazy to tell my boyfriend who is a new puppy owner that we should get rid of our new puppy. So after that we decided to change vets and also to get a second opinion on this “strong heart murmur”. We went to a new vet a week after that horrible appointment that my sister-in-law recommended to us and they were all very nice including the veterinarian. He took a listen to his heart. The veterinarian took a nice long listen and stood up and said “this heart murmur is nothing to be worried about” he also said the heart murmur was so small that it was go away in a few months. Which is true because we just went to the vet today for his booster vaccinations and he said its way smaller than before. After those two great appointments we realized that we were probably being scammed into getting a cardiologist and spending loads of money that was unnecessary. All i have to say is please don’t waste your time going here just to get hurt feelings and scammed.

Excellent staff! They answered all of my numerous questions during our first visit and were very helpful. When I called about my dog being stung by a wasp, they were very knowledgeable and told me what to do and called several times to follow up, even when I didn't come in. The free advice and care they have provided has been amazing. They seem to really care and are always available for emergencies. I will continue to take my dog here!

I would have given it 0 stars if possible. I took my puppy and the vet seemed to be in a bad mood. I told him I had just moved around here and the previous vet did blood work on my puppy. He completely ignored me and pursued. Someone knocked and he had to step away. He back saying they will do blood work and they will call me with results the next day. I asked him I had told him they drew blood and how did we know it was not the same thing. I showed him the report/summary on the phone and all he kept saying is "I dont see it". He argued that the blood work would test for organs etc. My puppy also had a seizure there and all the vet said in that respect was "she is fine. It's not deadly. She walks fine now". I got home and had a better opportunity to look at my receipt and previous summary of what was done to my puppy from a different vet. I called immediately saying I wanted a refund. The refund was given to me but that was a waste of time. Also if I would not have looked at this closer I would have paid a service twice. The vet didn't seem to care about my puppy. My puppy is my baby and I will never take her back there where the vet doesn't care and does not know what he is doing. This was my experience....

Dr Jeff and his team are extremely professional and caring. Dr Jeff took his time with us and explained what was going on step by step. These are my foster kitties and I actually had an appointment for only kitty one at 9:00 pm and brought in two. They are both sick and in the same room. He saw them both and didn’t say a word about it. I’m grateful for his compassion and caring attitude. I highly recommend this practice!!

When we walked in, the first thing we noticed is how clean everything looked/smelt. It was the first time we were taking one of our cats there and there was a little sign in the lobby welcoming us ???? The front desk attendants were very welcoming and helpful with all of our paperwork and questions. The vet tech and veterinarian we met with were kind and personable. They answered all of our questions and gave us a lot of tips to help our cats. We've been to a couple of veterinarians in the area, trying to decide which is the best and we've decided to stay with VCA!!
