I have been bringing our pets to Pekin Veterinary Clinic since I moved to Pekin 16 years ago. My wife has been taking her pets there for 15 years before that. And our pets were frequent patients (e.g., a geriatric dog who, survived Parvo, has had 4 knee surgery, digestive issues, and another dog with Cushing, pancreatitis , a cat with renal failure, etc). Dr. Jess and the other members of his veterinary team and staff were wonderful. They really seemed to care about our beloved pets and made us feel like family. But ever since the business changed hands (now apparently owned by PetVet Care Centers) everything has changed. We are no longer family members, we are just another account. Their new focus seems to be on dollars rather than quality care. With as much money as we spend here (seriously, tens of thousands) you might think they would be happy to see us, but instead they act like they just want us to get in, pay the bill, and get out. We see a different young doctor each visit. They are very nice but none of them seem to have a lot of experience. Rather than showing concern for the pet patient, the technicians seem more interested in documenting each billable service. The front desk staff appear to be under a lot of stress, probably from being understaffed or over-worked, But for whatever reason, they are no longer welcoming and sometimes downright rude. Our dog probably doesn't have that many visits left in him. Our next pet will have a new veterinary practice.

Staff is very friendly and understanding. They explain situation with your pet and inform you of whatever needs to be done to help your pet get well or stay healthy

I brought in my 70lb American Pit Bull. When he meets new people he gets really really excited. They had no problem handling him with care. I recommend checking them out

I am impressed by this clinic so far. They got my fur baby in for an regular appointment quickly (I didn't have to drop her off to be worked in, but was able to stay with her). I brought her in for ongoing ear issues. They immediately did a test to see what they were dealing with before treating, and then talked me through her ear care. They're very thorough and knowledgeable. They were super loving with her, giving her lots of attention!

These people care for someones pet as if it was theirs. Prices are better too!

It's always a great experience.

Sadly we had an emergency visit with our beloved Bear. The staff was quick and prompt to getting him in the office and taken back and started immediately taking care of him to see what was wrong. Everyone was very compassionate about the situation. The Vet was excellent on keeping me informed how he was doing and thorough updates. The techs were very kind and patience giving me time to say good bye. I would highly recommend Pekin Veterinary clinic to everyone because if they worked this smoothly and compassionatly in an emergency just think how amazing they are in everyday appointments.

I had an (obviously) unexpected accident with my cat. The situation was understood and a plan was put in place immediately. The entire staff knows Onyx and will stop to say hi to her every other day when she comes in for bandage changes. They also take the time at the end of their day to make sure her bandages are always cute as can be! She now has quite a few fans of her frequent “outfit changes” I’ve been coming here for years and I expect to be coming here for many more! It took a lot of vet hopping to find the right one for my crew, but I wholeheartedly believe I’ve found the one!

I was at this vet for 20 plus years. Dr Jess was golden. Whoever has it now has let it go. The place is filthy. Today they had an empty parking lot and 6 tech sitting in the front room. They turned away a cat in need of her vaccine because they got stuck in construction traffic for 13 minutes. All 5 animals in the family now will go to Resued Heart. They managed to fit in our 2 special needs dogs $$$$$ so they can continue their medications.

I will say ey are they are there for your pet, they are confident in what they do and say, both of dogs are happy and relaxed when there appointments are over, not seeing any stress related issues. They are nice and reasonable with there prices...

Got us right in nice and friendly place

Went in for shots and had my dogs teeth looked at, they estimated 2 bad teeth and a cleaning,I dropped her off at 8 am , after 9 hours of no calls I arrived 10 minutes before they closed to find out they had pulled 22 teeth , no excuse , not even a phone call ,we called at 2 pm to see what the hold up was and told she was fine and had just started the cleaning , 6 of the teeth were healthy and tight she pulled them I am sure just to make her job easier and jack the bill up. We have been loyal customers for over a decade , not ever again will we set foot in this building. I dont't know what changed here, but I was sick to my stomach as soon as I walked in the door, I knew by the look on the staffs faces somthing was up.

Dr. Raj is very nice and is to the point. I appreciate his directness.

Disappointed in the lack of concern for the animal in an emergency situation because of not having payment at the time. I grabbed the pup and forgot my purse. Took the pup to rescued hearts and they worked with me, got paid the next day and the pup is doing great!

Great with my pets but a lil pricey

3 weeks ago I made an appointment for my dog for a 3 year rabies shot. Today I was running late by five minutes and they told me I would have to reschedule. Most of the time when I go there there is at least a 5-10 minute wait for them to call my dog in. Who would of thought that being 5 minutes late they would want me to reschedule. I will no longer be going to Pekin Veterinarian clinic. They have lost my business.

Taking our dog that had surgery for herniated discs for PT. She's getting better everyday and I'm confident that with continued therapy she will be walking again in no time. Care is reasonably priced.

All the staff was very friendly and professional. My yellow lab is very energetic on his leash but the staff didn't mind and didn't get frustrated with him. The vet also kept asking me what questions I have or what other concerns I had. She really cared about what I was saying and made sure I understood her answers. Great place and I highly recommend!
