My cat is 20.5 years old and clearly at the end of life. When she started scratching her ear I knew it was a resurgence of the ear infection she had had a few months prior. I called for a refill on the ear drops and was told that she’d have to be re-seen in order to get the drops. I explained to Bridget how frail she is but no exceptions would be made. God forbid they lose out on their exam fees. Her next trip to the vet will be her last trip; I was just trying to make her more comfortable. The front desk staff think that if they say something in a sweet fake voice that they’re actually being compassionate. The doctors are knowledgeable and thorough, but there is too much emphasis on policy over care.

We have used this Veterinarian for more than 16 years. Unfortunately, we needed to put our furbaby down on Dec 29th. The staff as always was attentive and very caring. They are also following Covid protocols carefully to stay safe. Very professional, caring, and understanding group of Doctors, Techs and front desk personnel. I want to thank them for their help and care for these many years.

So happy I found this clinic and it is close to my home! I have a rabbit and it is sometimes difficult to find a vet who will see your exotic pet. My husband brought in our bun yesterday for an eye issue and he raved about the quality of treatment received. This place was so great, he said, and Dr. Carlson and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend and we will be their customer from now on! My bun already feels better. I am looking forward to meeting them.

BEWARE!! I needed to have my puppy weighed to verify the correct dosage for heart worm medication. I was informed that I needed an appointment for this and proceeded to set up an appointment for him to be weighed. Unfortunately a family member became critically Ill the day before my appointment when they called to confirm my arrival the next day. At the same time, which was the first time it was ever mentioned, I was left a message that a cancellation and/or no show would result in a $20 fee. This fee was never mentioned at the time I was told I needed an appointment just to get weighed! Sorry to hear that they not only make it so difficult to get your fur baby weighed (when any other vet in the area would weigh him no fee, not being a patient and no appointment). They are more concerned with getting a $20 fee versus the $350 they would get from my dogs my dogs annual visit. This is not even considering the loss of $100+ annual fee for my cat as well.

Charged for things we didn't receive and the lady on the phone blamed us for their mistake. Refused to help or admit fault either. Thanks

This vet clinic took my dog in as a new client during the pandemic and the vet did not even introduce herself. I had to tell her over the phone where to inspect a lump. For a clinic that kept pet owners out of the clinic for over a year and still insists on having clients call before entering when the waiting room is empty, you have to physically pick up a prescription. They will NOT fax a prescription to accommodate refills. Worst customer service I have ever encountered.

I love this vet. Everyone is so nice, they are clean, on time and efficient and you can tell they love all of the animals.

We were more than impressed with the professionalism, kindness, and empathy that they showed us and our dog. Dr. Carlson, Dr. Gellatly, and Dennis have always been so helpful and friendly. We were always informed on the dog’s health status, all our questions were answered thoroughly and accurately. We could not recommend this vet enough, we trusted them with our dogs health to the very end of his life. Thank you for what you do on a daily basis!

I’ve never left a bad review anywhere and never thought I’d be leaving one here! I absolutely LOVED this place! Everyone was so friendly and amazing, I left this vet due to some personal reasons that caused me to move out of the area. I called today for a friend, her dog is sick and I recommended this place. I asked about their plan they offered me to pay monthly and services were covered with it. They said they no longer offered it, I then asked for pricing for an exam so I can explain this to my friend and the phone call kept getting switched from girl to girl on their end. Someone ended up taking my call and said they would have to talk to my friend and not me on the pricings, I explained to them my friend is literally next to me, her English wasn’t good and I was helping her out so the worker said “it’s best you go else where for a vet” I said absolutely incredible all because I asked for pricing, she said “I’m sorry you feel that way” I literally called after referring this place to someone else that lives in Palatine and im shocked by the poor attitude of you guys! It’s unfortunate to see how much you guys have changed! Extremely disappointed this place was amazing. And yes im sure you’ll laugh to read this review because you were so nasty on the phone with me. Apparently having questions is bullying. Incredible??

BEWARE!!! We had an unpleasant experience with Loving care Animal Hospital recently. However, our experience with some of the their staff seem to hold their own in a caring, professional manner such as Gwen... (she is top notch) the technician who has been an absolute delight to work with on additional visits and demonstrates professionalism and genuinely cares. (You will love Gwen) Our cat Clyde recently had a procedure at this hospital where he was neutered along receiving a couple vaccinations. Well shortly after coming home Clyde developed a cough. We didn't think much of it at first but after a week or so it seemed to worsen. Now, I am a father of eight and trust me we've had our share of animals... we are an animal loving family and with eight children believe me they each wanted their own pet at some point, taking on more then we should at times but that's the price of being animal lovers. Again, Clyde's cough seemed to worsen and with this going on, on top of that my Mother passes from Covid. So time stops for our family... (you can imagine) We had to put everything off and provide funeral services for Mom. Talk about a rough patch... so here we are and we call to make an appointment to bring Clyde in to get checked out. I thought he developed the cough from a side effect from the vaccinations. We just paid 400 dollars for the first procedure and upon the current check up, my wife comes out with an invoice for another 260 dollars... I feel kind of blindsided and was not expecting to pay another enormous bill. I explained myself to Sue who I initially conversated with and then the phone was passed to Gwen who provided a professional explanation. Apparently Clyde had developed a respiratory infection and is being treated. Now, I explained myself to Gwen and told her everything I am sharing on this review... I asked for a little break on this invoice, I also said I'm not looking for any sympathy just a little understanding... she said she'd find out and place me on hold for moment. Dr. Carlson picks up the phone and says what are you asking for!?!? I attempt to explain myself for a third time but her negative attitude shut that down pretty quick. She cuts me off and blurts out I'm not giving YOU a discount! It is what it is! I told her okay I will pay what you requested and I will be leaving a review. She doesn't say bye just hangs up. Wow... talk about RUDE and unprofessional. Joanne Carlson, you're a doctor... heres some constructive criticism, work on your poor negative attitude. Your harsh demeanor is really unnecessary and learn how to communicate with others appropriately.

I had a very unfortunate experience with the exotic vet and staff at this location. I brought my ferrets in for vaccinations and the vet didn’t know to properly hold a ferret while doing this so he ended up poking the needle right through the skin and then had to inject him again! I was so shocked and didn’t know what to say at first so I called back later with my concerns and was not taken seriously. Today my ferret broke his arm and when I called they said they were not interested in helping me because of my previous complaint. They were not my first choice by any means, I called at least 30 vets in the area and no one was able to provide care. But I was hoping they would be able to at least ease his pain till someone else was available but the staff were very unhelpful and snarky. I finally was able to find a place that’s three hours away and will be taking him tomorrow! I can’t describe how disappointed I am in this office and the actions that have chosen to take, I hope they change how they handle situations in the future because this is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Stay clear!

I used to love this clinic but the last few months have made me a bit jaded. It started with the lack of communication regarding transition to the app. While I love that they're being more tech forward, what started as a convenience became a mandatory prerequisite and nobody informed me prior to the transition. My first two appointments I received text confirmation reminders, then for my third I got nothing. The day of, I received a call from someone at the front desk and to my surprise was talked down to and chastised for not having confirmed it on the app, something I had recieved no prior notification of needing to do. I follow suit and downloaded the app though. I used it to schedule an appointment for my pup to get more of her vaccines and it was all fine. Well I guess the app still has glitches because the date I had listed as the appointment, one I got a notice to confirm and did confirm, was for 7pm on a Saturday, and was cancelled on their end, but with no mention on mine. Days before, when I called asking if they could check for a parasite during her appointment, I was told in a particularly snarky tone that there was no appointment scheduled despite me having it as confirmed on the app. Not to mention the additional comment made about how vaccines aren't administered by a vet and I'd need to schedule a second appointment for that. I can admit to ignorance on that, I don't work at a vet clinic, but I probably would have recieved the news with far better energy had it not been delivered in such a condescending tone. It's not my fault that the app is glitchy and that someone canceled my appointment without telling me. Clearly I'm distraught because I've been dealing with a puppy who has a mysterious reoccurring gastrointestinal issue that has already required an er visit, I would anticipate even a modicum of empathy but apparently the inconvenience for customer service to reschedule my appointment takes precedence over my puppy having what turned out to be giardia for the last two months. ANYWAYS, it's important I mention that I still have nothing but appreciation for the techs and vets who work there, theyre thorough and understanding and I trust them. I've just been in customer service far to long to tolerate the way its conducted by a particular front desk staff member. The last bit I feel important to mention is the cost. I recieved a quote for a spay of 540 dollars and I was completely baffled but since I don't know much about the cost of supplies or payroll, I swallowed the initial shock. After calling 6 other vet clinics and recieving quotes of at least 100 dollars less for equal service though, I think it's time I look into another vet. I'll be sad to leave, because really, I used to love this place, but I'm having a hard time accepting that they're going to charge so much on top of the aforementioned commentary. Now that I'm drained of my "Karen" juice, I really hope this gets addressed. I understand cost can vary, it's the least of my concerns, but I can't stand apathy, so please, bring the care back into your practice

Dr. Carlson is amazing & has been our vet for many years. Dennis is a fantastic tech as well. It makes me glad to see that their staff has extremely low turnover, which makes me feel that they all feel good about their work and their "loving care" is genuine! The facility is clean & well maintained & wait times to see the vet are very reasonable. I understand that they don't do grooming at the moment, so just a heads up on that, but their vet services are absolutely superb!

I’m usually not one to write a review, but I have been battling a diarrhea issue with my 6 month old kitten for a couple of months now. She came from a litter with the same issues and after multiple negative stool samples (each costing $36) the vet continued to suggest it’s the diet. Now being a few months into this diet change I am not seeing any improvement. They also sent my other kitten home with medications that are just not working for his eyes and ears. At this point I am incredibly frustrated with the lack of knowledge these vets seem to have. I’ve never been to a practice where it seemed like there are untrained/uneducated veterinarians. I will be taking my cats elsewhere to solve this issue and I won’t be coming back. The whole practice comes off as very professional, but I seriously question their knowledge and ability to treat cats.

I have a lizard that really needed to see a vet and they were unwilling to get me in because they are not taking new patients I told them about how they are the only vet in my area that are willing to take the lizard and they were still unwilling to take him I think that is very unprofessional because not even the vet hospitals would take a lizard so if it came down to a life or death situation with my lizard they still wouldn’t take him and they are the only place that accepts lizards.. you’d think a vet would help a animal in need if they were the only option.

I recently brought one of our dogs to Loving Care for grooming for the first time. Due to Covid, they are offering curbside drop off and pick up only. They’re very efficient and kind. Zlata is a compassionate groomer. I was so impressed by her sincere concern about a minor injury my dog had the evening before the appointment. My pup came home happy and smelled wonderful. I’ll take our other pooch in as soon as she is cleared of a recent medical condition. I would definitely recommend Zlata.

We had such an amazing experience at Loving Care Animal Hospital! After having to abruptly leave our old vet I called Loving Care to get an ASAP appointment for my dog who was ill and they took me the same day! They were thoughtful and patient and explained everything to me and I felt like my dog was very well taken care of. After a few days of medicines and rehydration my dog was feeling much much better. I'm so glad I changed to this vet and now I have a vet that's close to the house and super thoughtful & thorough. We look forward to going to them for a very long time. Thank you Loving Care for taking such good care of our fur baby!

The building was easy to find and I had no wait and we were immediately brought back to get a history and get my pups checked out. Our tech was so nice and kind to my chihuahua and you can tell she really loves her job! She also gave me a sample of the heartworm and flea and tick medicine to take home and try.The appointment was quick and to the point and the doctor was in and out in 5 minutes. I will definitely be back!

They refused to see our dog just because we went to see another vet once. They have no love or care at all. Also extremely rude. Avoid at all costs.

We have been using Loving Care for almost 4 years since we adopted our Basset Maggie. Always great care and appointment availability. I recently had to bring her in to get a few things checked out and their current curbside protocols were perfect. Pulled right up to a spot, called to check in. They came out shortly to safely grab her from the car and go over everything we needed to have done. I had a very short wait before Dr. Carlson called me to go over her notes and what she recommended to be done. Another staff member came out shortly to run my card and Maggie was brought back to me quickly after that. Everything ran smoothly and adhering to recommended safety protocols. Highly recommend!
