Doggie Day Play Oak Park, Illinois

This is not a good place to bring your dog for daycare. If you're dog-obsessed like me and watch the dog cams you will notice that dogs often get forgotten in the kennels and don't get any time in the "play" area. The first few times I couldn't find my dog on the cameras I figured I had just missed her. After multiple occurrences, I decided to keep the cam open on a separate monitor while working and realized on some days she never made it into the play area. I called and asked if there was a reason/problem and they apologized profusely and said it was just an oversight...and then it happened again two days later. If I wanted my dog crated for 8 hours I would save the $35 and do it myself. Combine this with the fact that your dog will come home smelling like a mixture of cleaning solution and urine and we decided not to come back.

I had to board my dogs and noticed in the cameras that play yards were all dirty, it was not nice to see my dogs in there. I had to take them straight to bath after pick up (adding some extra expense). For the price they charge I would expect facilities to be clean.

We adopted (without knowledge) a troubled dog, earlier this year. The staff at Doggie Day Play listened to what my issues have been and have done everything they can to socialize our dog and make him comfortable. They are very nice and loving people. I love knowing our dog Riley, is well cared for when he's not with us. I highly recommend taking you dog here if you need day care. I know they offer overnight services as well. We have not yet used that service but plan to sometime when needed.

My dog is five months old. He only go to this location. He went to camp Friday morning all day. Saturday morning about 1:00 am I woke up to him coughing and vomiting. I finally got a Vet appointment Saturday at noon to be told he has Kennel cough. I called the day cate immediately and informed them. No one called me back until Monday pertaining to the situation and I went into the website cameras to see if they stop doing business to clean the facility and they did not . Dogs were there all weekend . The general manager finally called me Tuesday morning with a nasty disposition. I know it’s a chance we all take sending the pups to camp but, I would think the facility would be more concerned about my pup and others in the camp. Needless to say, $500 later and a sick dog. I will NEVER send my dog here again and will notify Oak Part for an inspection to be made at the location .

Took my dog for 6 days for hotel stay, called everyday to make sure he was okay and was told he was fine. Upon arrival; we seen that his butt was bleeding, they didn’t give him any chewing bones, dehydrated to the point where he threw it up because it was too much. On the cameras we would see that he was being attacked by other dogs, being slapped and kicked frequently by the employees while the higher ups let them do all that. They claim they love dogs and all there for dogs, but they are not. I can seriously say this has been the worst experience ever for my puppy. DO NOT RECOMMEND. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.

It’s my first and last time that I will drop off my dog in this place. I picked up my dog from there and he was smelling really really bad it was awful and as soon as we got home we gave him a bath at home because we couldn’t handle his smell.

We have a miniature dachshund named Pepper. The first two times we left Pepper here she was fine. But when we just picked her up just a week ago she smelled like urine and now she has kennel cough!

A place where they truly care about your dog.

We tried multiple times to really like this dog daycare, due to convince its on my way to work. However we have not returned after our 3rd visit. The front desk staff in the mornings are not very welcoming, at all! Brought up a miscommunication between the staff to the person at the front desk one morning, and she paused and with an attitude scoffed and said “okay!” That was the last straw, my dog wouldn’t play with the other dogs and just stayed by the handler you can tell he felt uneasy. He was nervous and stressed when I picked him up. (This was not his first time at a dog daycare. He had no issues at his previous dog daycare, we only tried this one due to convenience) However now I would rather do the drive and have a happy dog with welcoming staff and handlers! A male handler in the medium dogs play area was also seen being rough with a couple of dogs, so I didn’t stick around to wait and see if he would be rough with my dog. The reason for the 2 stars is, the one positive thing from this daycare is that Andrew the manager who was there when I would pick up is very welcoming and very informative. Any questions I had he would gladly answer me and update me on questions I had about my dog’s stay. If only the rest of the staff can be like Andrew! I should of listened to a friend who also was not satisfied with this daycare would of saved my dog a lot of stress.

This place is not only awesome along with its caring staff,but, it's our dog's second home, where we have peace of mind in knowing he has fun and is safe! Our dog, Romeo loves his friends here and definitely comes home happy and definitely calmer from his play time.

Great place to bring a puppy or dog to burn off that extra energy as well as mingle with other puppies and dogs.

I brought my puppy to Doggy Day Play a little over a month ago for the first time, and am so glad I did! From the start, the staff were warm and welcoming. They were open to explaining how the process works, where the dogs are and the requirements for dogs to attend daycare. The transparency and openness the staff exhibits is a breath of a fresh air, in comparison to other dog daycare places in the area. My dog was quite shy and nervous upon starting and hadn’t been around other dogs a lot. The staff at Doggy Day Play immediately recognized this and worked to develop a plan to slowly introduce my dog to other dogs. They provided updates for me each day we went and gradually increased my dog’s time with larger groups of dogs. This is a real benefit to Doggy Day Play, in that they look at dog temperament and size when placing your dog vs. keeping all dogs together. My puppy is now great with other dogs thanks to the staff and their support. The staff is also nothing short of amazing! Every staff member truly cares about the dogs they help and shows attention and kindness to all the dogs. They are very present in watching the dogs, and ensuring messes are cleaned up promptly. I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Doggy Day Play and would highly recommend them to other dog owners! My puppy is quite the fan too, as he now races down the street to go to daycare.

Avoid this place. Picked up my two dogs after four days of overnight stay and they were SOAKED in urine. They smell awful and their fur is all sticky. My dogs ran out of medicine part way through and nobody thought to call me and tell me. That seems irresponsible to me. I could have had more medicine brought to them. But mostly, this urine is the worst. Like, did they just leave my dogs in a pen for four days and never take them out? How could they not smell this? When I pointed it out while picking them up the two attendants didn’t even apologize or act like they cared. This was disappointing and I will not be back. They never even TRIED to make things right with me.

They were recommended by a family member and were great. My dog had a wonderful time. I will definitely continue boarding my dog there.

Just called to get rates and was out on hold for nearly 10 minutes. I asked for rates and the person on the phone asked “for what”? , I said to board a dog? That’s what you do right? He responded with rates, I asked if they had any multiple night packages which he didn’t know the answer to, then he asked someone else and tried to relay message only to laugh at me and hang up the phone. Not sure what kind of drugs these employees are on but my dog will never stay there.

Today was my puppies first time at Doggie Day Play. They were amazing!! The stass was very friendly and very quick to bring him in and out. I saw over the web cam that they were very fast at picking up any mess in the yard. I have a smaller dog and any time he was being mounted, the staff instantly broke it off. Very impressed!!! keep up the good work

I barely even know where to begin. This place is absolutely incredible. I took my dogs to them after several recommendations, and I was completely delighted to find how wonderful they are. They remember your dogs names!!! They are so helpful and even go so far as to hold the door open for me and greet my dogs with excitement. All of the staff LOVE dogs, and being able to watch your pets all day on the camera is just an added bonus. When I go to pick up my dogs, they are quick and hold the door open for me on the way out. One time I forgot all of my dogs overnight-stay-stuff, and they ran it out to my car for me. I have even seen their staff go get pets out of their owners cars for drop off!! Everyone is SO ATTENTIVE and care so much about the owners and the dogs. They are great about food and medications! My dogs come home exhausted after every visit and love the staff!!! Love this place. It is worth every penny!

Amazing!!! Friendly, safe facility. I love that I can watch my dog on my phone. Their entire concept is beyond great. No cages and wide open spaces for the dogs to play. They disinfect the play area all throughout the day. I can not say enough good things about this place. They have a customer for life in me.
