Still traumatized from this dump. I wish I never subjected my poor dog to this useless, abusive place. I read all the “great” reviews and took our beloved pup here for a second opinion regarding a cancer diagnosis. After the vet techs took him to the back, they dropped him off a high table breaking two of his front toenails off Our dog was extremely docile and loved everyone. Apparently they didn’t watch him or were just negligent. Adding to his other woes, after this he could barely walk. Add insult to all, they forced me to pay for toenails “medical care” and huge bandage, unnecessary cone etc. not one moron apologized even or even explained what happened. While I was in this torture back room trying to get answers , I saw how rough and anusive they were to someone’s poor cat who was not happy with a blood draw. Disgusting

Carlson Animal Hospital cares for our kitty like she is their own. The doctors are the best in the country and the staff are amazing. I recommend Carlson's to all my friends and family. We are lucky to have them take care of our Princess.

If you have a reactive dog, one with behavioral issues, or even special accommodations, I would not choose Carlson. A lot of the staff at Carlson are wonderful and understanding. However, overall I was really disappointed in the shame they put on me for bringing my reactive dog in to see them. They tried to offer some advice and help, but one of the veterinarians acted in a very condescending and shameful tone, telling me I wasn't cut out to handle my dog, and I left in tears. I completely understand there are serious matters when it comes to behavioral issues, and I recognize that my dog is in no way perfect, however the gut feeling I got from that place was awful. We have since moved, and found multiple options that have already been more supportive than Carlson ever was. I wish they would have told me to go elsewhere, to a more understanding and well-equipped veterinary practice.

I’ve been bringing my dog here since moving to Oak Park in 2014 and love them! They always show how much they love and care about my dog, Ozzie. Thank you for providing great care, always making time for us, working to put my mind at ease, and making Ozzie feel special!

We have been going to Carlson Animal Hospital for years! They take such great care of our Oliver and we can see how much they truly care about their patients and patients owners too! We couldn't imagine going anywhere else. All the doctors are top notch as well as all their staff. Love being part of the Carlson family.

We started at Carlson about seven years ago, with our first dog, after a bad experience with a different veterinary practice. Everyone - from the office staff and techs to the doctors themselves are tremendous. Even during the pandemic they have been incredibly responsive, thorough and compassionate. We have a puppy now, and know that he’s in excellent hands. I think it’s fair to expect the majority of vets are good with day-to-day problems, but when something mysterious or serious comes up, Carlson is by far the best in our experience.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. We had an emergency with my healthy 4yo bully breed at 7:30am and Carlson was the closest to us. He had collapsed and was unresponsive after barking out the window at some dogs passing by. We pulled up to Carlson frantic while they looked at us dumbfounded, hesitant to help us. My sister gave my 95lb dog CPR and breaths in the back on my Jeep as I tried explaining the situation through sobs. One of the nurses came out and listened to his heart and said there was nothing they could do and that he was gone. They did nothing to help us. They let us cry and sob in the parking lot holding our lifeless dogs body. Offering little to no support. A woman waiting in the parking lot as a patron of the business offered more support than this staff. ***This is NOT the first time this location let a family pet die on their watch. Three years ago our dog was hit by a car and they refused to help before money was put down. This place and their staff deserves to have their licenses revoked and entire business shut down.

We absolutely love Dr. Traci and the staff at Carlson Animal Hospital! You can tell they care greatly for all of the animals and treat them as family. They held our hands through a very difficult diagnosis and sudden loss of our last dog, and they now oversee the care of our new puppy. We wouldn't choose anywhere else!

I can’t say enough good things about Carlson Animal Hospital. We started going to the hospital with our two dogs. We immediately felt a kindred spirit with Jen and Ellay. They are great! Everyone is friendly, kind and professional. After several years, our older dog was unfortunately diagnosed with a tumor. Dr. Lazar (Leslie) helped us make the best choices for our dog with compassion, knowledge and calm. I will be forever grateful to her, especially after the long process of trying to save our dog ended, she was there with us on that awful day. She has a special place in my heart. Feel completely confident in taking your pet to Carlson Animal Hospital…they will be in good hands.

I can't speak highly enough about the care my pet has received at Carlson Animal Hospital. The doctors and staff are top notch and so caring. My pet has an enlarged heart (and allergies too) so the attention and superior care is so much appreciated. I would not even consider going elsewhere for her care. I'm very grateful for the care she's receiving here.

Horrible vets who let your pets die due to their incompetence. They will overcharge you for everything so pay attention to your bill. Rude, extremely immature and petty front desk staff and filthy back area where our poor, sick pets are contained. It’s shocking! AVOID THIS DUMP if you care about your pets life

Everyone on the Carlson animal hospital team is wonderful. When my dog was sick, they saw her in the office and diagnosed her right away. For her yearly check ups, they are very thorough and take plenty of time to answer my questions.

I recently went to Carlson Animal Hospital because my cat suddenly became paralyzed and seemed to be in a great deal of distress. I didn't have an appointment and wasn't a current patient, but they saw me immediately anyway and never made me feel like I was inconveniencing them or causing them to fall behind on their scheduled appointments. Dr. Cheryl and her team were compassionate and so very kind as they confirmed that my cat was indeed dying. I can't begin to describe how grateful I am to them for helping me on that terrible day. They arranged to have my cat's ashes spread at a cemetery. Again, I'm so very grateful to them. If I ever get another cat, I will most definitely take him or her to Carlson.

Everyone at Carlson is fantastic! They're so friendly and careful and they always take their time with my cat and me. The facility is very clean and I've never had an issue scheduling an exam or an emergency appointment. Highly, highly recommend!!

I'm not sure words can come close to describing how WONDERFUL the staff at Carlson are (especially Dr. Traci Lazar!) but I will try my best! Carlson Animal Hospital came into our lives when our pets truly needed them most. Most recently with our kitty Harold. They went above and beyond for us. The sweetest cat in the world was given extra time with us because of them and I could never say thank you enough!! We love you all!

If you care about your pet as much as I do and especially if you have a difficult case, Carlson Animal Hospital is where you need to go for treatment. I can't adequately say just how highly I recommend him. My dog has had serious and difficult health problems. When I first went to Dr. Carlson, 3 other vets and a specialist were unable to diagnose why my dog was rapidly losing weight. Dr. Carlson found the cause on the first visit and and he recovered immediately. I have complete confidence in Dr Carlson, his associate vets, and staff. Dr. Carlson has 35 years of experience. When you meet him and see his methods, you will know that he is a true professional who has seen it all and knows what to do. I consider him brilliant in his knowledge and I know from years of him being our vet that he is dedicated to be current on what treatments are effective . He is thorough with testing and at least in my experience, misses nothing. Sometimes that requires more testing than another less competent vet would do. I don't want anything missed and to lose my dog because of it. That was what was happening when I first went to him. He has also consulted with expert specialists when needed, most recently a 5 star eye surgeon. Finally, He and his entire staff are incredibly caring and treat my dog as if it was theirs. His staff are extremely competent. When you call, they and know who you are, and what the details of your treatment is. They don't miss anything. They are not only the best veterinary practice that I have been to, they are the best medical practice that I've been to.

Words can't describe how fantastic Dr. Carlson and his entire team are. Carlson Animal Hospital is by far the best Animal Hospital we have ever been to. Everyone at the hospital is very kind, patient and knowledgeable. Annie our dog was having frequent urinary tract issues .My friend suggested Annie see Dr. Carlson. After seeing Dr. Carlson and running tests we had a answer and a treatment plan. Carlson Animal Hospital treats the whole family ,they are very thorough and have excellent follow up skills. We feel so lucky to have found Dr. Carlson and his staff.

We have taken our animals to Dr. Carlson and his team for more than 10 years. He has saved our dog's life on more than one occasion, most recently, from the dog flu. The staff is amazing, kind, and understanding. Dr. Carlson and his fellow doctors are extremely detail oriented and knowledgable. Our dogs are an irreplaceable part of our family, because we love them so much, I will only trust Dr. Carlson and Carlson Animal Hospital to care for my dogs!
