My Sheltie is being treated for squamous cell cancer and I have no complaints with that. What shocked me, and caused me to take off a star is that they charged me $102.36 for 1.5 mg of Meloxicam. My regular vet charged $59.00, which was …

What is the point of being a 24 hour animal ER if you are always telling people "your dog needs emergency medical care, but you can't bring him here, we're at capacity". Really? at midnight on a Thursday?? This has happened to me twice when …

The people at Blue Pearl are amazing they worked with me and my Roxy in what was and still is one of the most painful situations I’ve ever been in. But they made sure there was nothing more that could be done to prolong her life. I miss Roxy so much to this day I still cry like now, but The beautiful wooden box they sent her back to me in was perfect, but they didn’t stop there the card they sent me with everyone who worked with us personally wrote their heart felt condolences. Sure it wasn’t inexpensive but it was well worth it so I could make a confident decision and not wonder for the rest of my life “could I have done more”? No there wasn’t I only wished I would have taken her there1st. So if and when I need to take my Rosie for an emergency I will take her there first this time. Thank you all again for all you’ve done and all you do everyday. Sincerely, Kelly Smith Roxy’s Mom

Blue pearl disgusts me! I read through my furry baby's medical history and the notes are ridiculous. They wrote on there things they did not tell me! Things they did not advise! I asked if my baby was having trouble breathing and they …

Terrible service! All the doctor wanted was my $$$. Didn’t care at all about my puppy and what he needed to feel better. Didn’t help put me at ease when they gave me a choice of X-ray/blood work = more $$$. Abs that’s exactly how they presented it to me. NEVER GO THERE!

Our pets have always received wonderful treatment at Blue Pearl Northfield. Today our dear Sadie was cared for by Dr. Fishback and Terry at the front desk. The nursing team was excellent. We are forever grateful for their compassion and support during a difficult time.

I’ve been to blue pearl twice now. The first time our puppy got bit in the face and they fixed her right up. The second time was last night with my new puppy. She was acting really strange and lethargic. Naturally when we got inside blue pearl, she perked up and acted like nothing was wrong. We decided to have her checked out just in case. She had a full exam by the vet (I’m sorry I don’t know their name - I really wish I did) and then Alex came back with her. She said the dr did a full exam and she looks great! She’s good to go home. We can run tests if you really want but the doctor doesn’t think it’s necessary. I’ve been to another vet ER in the area and blue pearl is by far is the best. They really care about your pet and don’t want to run unnecessary tests and run up the bill. I hope I never have to go to another vet ER again, but if I do - it’ll definitely be Blue Pearl. Thank you all again so much!!!

I can not say enough good things about Blue Pearl. Staff was so friendly, facility is nice and clean, Dr. Wilson answered all our questions thoroughly, nurse Rebecca was very knowledgeable and had great compassion for our situation, post-op direction was provided verbally and written out just in case, and our dogs TPLO surgery went great!! Less than 24 hours and she’s walking normal. I was so happy to find a place that I trust with our dog Kamea. Would highly recommend for ACL surgery and any other needs!

JUST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I have 14 year old standard schnauzer (Kaiser) who started having eye and urine infection problems. I asked for a quote, they told me $900. I get the bill and its $1600. Then they called me about his urine analysis and said I could call them to refill his prescription (this might be necessary for his urine). So I called them to refill, and they said I would have to come in and they need to do more tests! They did every test on him already! They couldn't find anything, other than his urine infection. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! and they will take every last cent of your money....

Dog has an open wound from a surgery two days prior and they say they are at maximum capacity with just three cars in the parking lot! She was not even sympathetic just said we are at max capacity. This place is terrible.

Blue Pearl is a nice place with friendly front office people but it is very frustrating to be a patient. Very difficult to be confident whether I was actually getting good, complete medical advice. This is my second time with a specialist from Blue Pearl and both were similar. Bottom line is Blue Pearl is about the money. They are extraordinarily good at extracting maximum dollars from people who are desperate to help their pet. This lets them have a fancy office and give you the impression it is a great place. I am not so sure it is. They did quickly diagnose and prescribe a steroid medicine that worked for my pet's disease. That was great. But then for a year, they proceeded to lead me in different directions and rack up the bills. Even though my cat was tolerating the medicine fine and my regular vet said he could stay on it for years, Blue Pearl insisted it was too powerful to stay long term and I needed to change the treatment. Ok fine, what are the alternatives? Well there was the trick! They seemed to not want to tell me....at least until I came in for more check ups and paid for my random labs. Every time, I asked for alternative treatments and was always told there were alternatives. But getting specifics was like pulling teeth. I did finally get one suggestion and without doing any research, I trusted them and we tried it. My cat began having seizures within days. I researched and discovered this side effect and worse was common so I immediately stopped. The seizures stopped and we went back to the original med. But again, was told there were alternatives. Again...fine...what are they? Never once got any more details. It was just...come back for another check up. Do more labs. Not labs to discover info for new treatments just more labs. Sometimes more labs to confirm previous labs. It just always felt like they were withholding advice until I paid more and more money. It got very frustrating. And when I pushed back in the slightest at the mounting costs, was made to feel like I was being uncooperative. They expected me to just do as they said without question and keep paying. Finally, after a year, I was moving away to another area. Blue Pearl, of course, required one last visit and some more fees but they were nice enough to give me copies of the records and even write a refill prescription to get me through until I found a new specialist in the new location. Great! Then, a few weeks after moving, I went to fill that prescription. The pharmacy called Blue Pearl to verify and Blue Pearl said it was invalid because I was no longer a patient! They knew when they wrote the prescription that I would be filling it when I was no longer a patient, so why? What is the concern? Did they think I was secretly selling or drinking a small bottle of chicken flavored pet steroids? Or was it that I was not paying them anymore so screw him? So now I am scrambling to get an appointment with a new specialist while my cat's autoimmune disease is flaring up. How does invalidating a prescription you write help anything? It doesn't. It hurts me and hurts the cat. Maybe that is the goal? Just on overall miserable and frustrating experience with Blue Pearl. Would not return.

The worst clinic ever ,don’t you ever take your dog there the worst service ever. Before I went to this clinic I did call them and I asked them if I Need a appointment, they assured me that I don’t need an appointment I can just walk in it’s open 24 seven when I went there two hours later. The secretary was very arrogant . A soon as we walked in she kept telling me the same thing over and over like robot “we are out capacity ,call back in two hours. I asked her why do I need call in two hours when I am here right now , and I did call the clinic two hours earlier and they’ assured me that I can just walk in . As soon as we walked in she kept saying the same thing over and over we are out of capacity .And then she switched from out of capacity to if your dog is not bidding or hit by a car , it’s not a emergency. It was 11 pm at night she treated me worse than dog . What kind of customer service is that ? I am going to give them thousands of dollars and she is going treat me Like I own them money or something. I did not go there at 11 o’clock at night just for fun .if I didn’t think that my dog needs emergency care I wouldn’t be there at this time !!!!! Warning : go elsewhere but this clinic , they don’t deserve your business .

So first and foremost communication is terrible I have been bringing my dog there for allergy shots to Dr Levinsin for more than a year. Sometimes when I am working he cannot be bothered to call me with a report at work. She needed an ear recheck and cannot be seen for over a month. That is not helpful and is not a follow up that is ok when ny dog is struggling. They are more than happy to sell me more allergy shots but not make sure their effect or do reasonable rechecks. It’s all about the $$$$$$$ Their front desk staff are generally not helpful.

This place is a horror show. The people at the front are nice caring people however once you get past that the vets and the techs basically have no soul. Their first option is never to help save a life merely to just put down animals. Please save yourself the grief and take your loved ones to a vet that actually cares and isn't completely motivated by money. PLEASE LISTEN!!

Horrible experience at Blue Pearl - ACL surgery My dog recently had ACL surgery with Dr. David Wilson at Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Northfield. During our first phone appointment, he recommended ACL surgery without examining my dog, performing scans or asking about her injury. After a physical exam, we moved forward with surgery. This was a horrible mistake. Communication between Dr. Wilson and his staff was terrible. We were given several opposing post operation/rehabilitation instructions. When contacting Blue Pearl, it took five days for Dr. Wilson to return my calls. When he did call me, Dr. Wilson was verbally abusive, unprofessional, volatile and implied that I was confused and unable to understand directions. He raged for ten minutes and stated that he is too busy to speak with clients. He said he had 2 dogs under anesthesia and did not have time for questions. Dr. Wilson’s unwillingness to speak to a client, his anger and instability were frightening. Recommendations for surgery without sufficient data is unacceptable. Leaving 2 dogs under anesthesia, raging at a client, then going back to surgery is dangerous and unethical. I worry for other vulnerable clients and pet owners. I am also concerned that Blue Pearl Pet Hospital supports such practices.

My dog had to come to Blue Pearl for emergency surgery. I was unsure what was wrong with him and was very scared with the unknown. The staff here was excellent and took great care of my dog for the days he stayed with them at Blue Pearl. The staff allowed me to call and visit multiple times a day and always put my mind at ease. Although you never want your pet to go to the ER I’d highly recommend Blue Pearl Northfield!

I would rate them zero if I could horrible service - I took my cat for a eye infection they completely refused to take her because they were at “capacity “ literally only 3 people waiting all I wanted was for someone to check her eye as it was white and the nurse gave me A I give a dam look and sarcastically said yeaa no sorry! It’s supposed to be an emergency clinic and they deny seeing patients?

I've brought my 6 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback to BluePearl twice for complicated situations, and in both instances, the staff and vet did an excellent job rapidly resolving the issues. They also are fantastic about communication, calling several times through the stay to let us know what was going on and explaining their recommended treatments and the cost for each of them.

Nadine was very unprofessional and not helpful. Also, communication was very poor among employees within the hospital as one would call as I was on the phone with another who called minutes before.

My kitten, Patsy, had to have an emergency endoscopy and BluePearl took amazing care of her. Dr. Fischbach, Dr. Harrison, and everyone at the front desk were so kind, attentive, and reassuring through the process. The emergency vets in the city were quoting us an 8-10 hour wait time and BluePearl got us in right away. Overall, we had a very positive experience given the scary circumstances.

Blue Pearl in Northfield is amazing. From the front desk to the nursing staff and doctors. they were so helpful they explained everything and took such good care of my pup. I am so glad there was a place I could take my pup when my vet was closed.

Everything was fine. Lot of bad reviews that do not paint an accurate picture of my experience. Professional doctor and fully adequate intake and release processes. Price estimate was expressed days in advance for cardiology exam. Emergency vet care can be expensive, this is a pretty universal fact that you must accept upon the purchase of an animal. Based on our appointment this place is better than it’s current rating would indicate.

My pup, Josie, got checked out for a chronic cough that I feared was a heart issue. Josie's vet referred us to BluePearl cardiology but warned us that it could be awhile before we could be seen - was able to get an appointment for the next day! Check-in and check-out with pandemic procedures was quick and efficient - the women I spoke to on the phone were all delightful. Dr. Feldgreber was also great - he was very detailed and confident with his findings and slowly walked me through what he thought the best course of treatment was (thankfully nothing too serious). He called to check up on Josie a week after her appointment. Only downside is I wish they had a location in the city vs having to drive out to the burbs but the drive is worth it for great care.

We recently lost our pet on Friday!! I usually don't write reviews, but I just can't get over how RUDE the staff is here!!! the Dr was Amazing, helpful, compassionate, and understanding, as well as the technician that actually put our dog down.. But everyone else! especially under our circumstances was awful, seemed annoyed or agitated over simple questions, an literally argued over the phone with me that I couldn't bring my 4yr old in with me and my husband!! like we were just goin to leave her in the car or something!! (we had to call back and literally ask the Dr AGAIN) I would never recommend putting ur animals down here if u have any respect or love for them!! they even make u pay for ur DEAD dogs (animals) pawprints!! ive put 3 animals down before and they all were complementary. Very saddened by our last experience with our dog☹

We can't speak highly enough for BluePearl and Dr. Wilson. Every step of the way communication was terrific. Our pre-surgical consult felt more thorough than what many people get! The staff were very nice and caring - and always there to help. They checked in often by calling us and were always there to answer any questions we had post-surgery. We highly recommend BluePearl. Having read some of these reviews, I can't relate to anything negative about their customer service. I can relate to the pain, stress and emotion that go along with taking your pet to a hospital. Even if our dog didn't make it through the surgery, we felt confident in giving it a shot and we were fully made aware of the risk. Even if Parker had sadly passed, we would have still written this review.

Almost a year ago It was time to say goodbye to our canine partner. Unfortunately, it was early in the pandemic and almost everything was closed including our normal Veterinary office. I was referred to Blue Pearl and others, but after a few phone calls it was obvious that Blue Pearl was going to be the best choice on that weekend in short notice. We came in and were treated with compassion and empathy during one of the most difficult moments of my life. They allowed Sydney to die with dignity and I have no words to express my gratitude for this, so I will have to settle for a heartfelt Thank You. I was a one-time customer who has since moved away from the area so they had no business to gain from me. Other reviews mention it being expensive, but I have never been to a cheap Veterinary clinic. They’re open 24 hrs and were able to provide end of life care for my pet and even process the cremation and return of remains when my normal vet fell through on that too because of COVID. Whatever their costs, they’re reasonable for the services provided. While I can’t thank them enough for the service they provided, I can share my experience in hope that it will build trust in others to come here if needed.

We had an after hours emergency with our 2 year old Golden. Blue Pearl staff are our heroes. Thank you for your compassion and professionalism. This was our first visit and should the need arise we would not hesitate to return.

Amazing experience with Dr. Durmin this evening when it came to care for my Golden Retriever, Carter, who is not feeling his best. These negative reviews should be taken with a grain of salt... this is an emergency veterinary facility. Emotions are always running high for us clients (understandably so), and price tags are high as well. This is the reality of the veterinary industry and creates hostility aimed at the wrong people. Prices you pay here presumably have to do with the area in which the facility is located as well as the caliber of veterinarians and technicians they have on staff. I feel I got what I paid for; exceptional care and attention to detail when it came to my baby this evening. Big thank you to Dr. Durmin and any techs or assistants that worked with Carter tonight!

For the north shore inflated prices charged here I would expect better behavior from all staff. The doc and the front desk phone person were lovely but the girl who was taking charge of the front door was less than courteous. She yelled at me as I was dropping off and also when I was picking up. Considering that we are not allowed inside, this was the only live person I interacted with. Maybe she was having a bad day? Who knows but not a good thing when dealing with concerned pet owners.
