ANDERSON’S DOES NOT TEST THEIR INTAKES FOR FIV OR FELINE LEUKEMIA (FeLV)! This is a HUGE red flag for any adopter. Feline leukemia is CONTAGIOUS! We had 2 kittens pass from FeLV, one spread it to the other. Anderson’s also allows socialized cats to live in “colonies” in their care, where they will pass diseases back and forth. Since they are not testing their intakes upfront, you have no idea what your potential kitty has been exposed to. They will tell you it’s an unnecessary test. Hundreds upon thousands of shelters and vets will tell you otherwise. FeLV IS CONTAGIOUS! Anderson’s, change your vetting standards. It’s cheap and irresponsible. ADOPTERS BEWARE.

I was searching for a pup to be a part of our family. On Saturday when I called for an appt. They stated they go by appt. only and gave me an appt. for Sunday at 4pm. However, when I arrived at the location on Randall Rd, they told me I couldn't see a dog because they didn't have me down. They also stated that the person on the phone shouldn't have told me to walk in and that I needed a deposit. Clearly they need a better system of communication. Will not go back.

We went here back in July 2017 to find and adopt an older dog. And who was in the waiting area pen, a little puppy named Sonny. His littermates had all been adopted and he was alone. The staff were busy in the cat rooms, so I started petting little Sonny and talking to him. Then I picked him up, and that was it, he didn't leave my arms once. We adopted him and changed his name to Darby. He was from Oklahoma and only 10 weeks old. He is our darling, wonderful Darby. Then in Jan 2019 we saw a shelties picture on their website and I drove through a snowstorm to adopt her, and we named her Daisy. They are wonderful together and very playful.

Really bad customer service. The girls working there are rude and not helpful at all. Not the animals fault but I wouldn't recommend anyone going there if you are going to be treated they way they treated us.

The people here are very helpful and will guide you carefully through the adoption process. They take their jobs seriously in finding a match for the animals there. True professionals and friendly to boot.

We brought our dog, and the ladies working there gave her so much attention! After walking through the awesome barn, and of coarse looking through the cool things, our dog roamed the farm yard, having a great time! We will be bringing items this week to donate,so they can sell to help pay for the dogs!

Anderson's hasbeen a staple of thr community for a long time. As a previous volunteer I can say that they take very good care of it's animals. I've gotten a dog and a cat from them and both were amazing companions. Anderson's even gave me a nice adoption package and adoption comes with the stipulation that if the animal ever can't be taken care of, it must come back to Anderson's so they know it'll be in good care

I just got back from the North Aurora location... TERRIBLE. Emma talked to me on the phone and told me “they would require me to bring my dog to meet Patch because he has behavioral issues” I brought my dog and when I did my dog wasn’t allowed in. On the website AND the Facebook page it says the dog I was looking at gets along well with people and dogs so that was clearly incorrect. Then Emma had the nerve to lecture me on my dog and the prong collar he wears. She didn’t take him to training twice, try three harnesses nor has she been pulled down by him either. The prong collar is the only thing that works on my dog and keeps him safe from getting away from us on walks. Just an overall horrible experience. I will no longer be bringing my donations to Anderson animal shelter. I will find another shelter to support. So sad.

I love our new member of the family that we got from the shelter but the customer service is horrible. We have been calling for a week with some questions and just get transferred around and ignored. We only got one email answered with a generic response that didn't even answer our questions.

It's a small satellite location shelter, but it does the job and veterans get a discount. The employees are knowledgeable and very helpful.
