This practice is wonderful! Especially for exotics. We have rats that have needed emergency attention on two different occasions and they got us in quickly! Our regular vet wouldn't squeeze us in even though one rat was having a hard time breathing. VHAH got us in same day. They are a great group of friendly, caring people and we are very happy to have found them.

May 28, 2021 - I am updating my review to 1 star, hopefully it can draw the owner's attention. The receptionists keep hanging up incoming calls that I cannot even make an appointment. I have tried to call at least twice in the last couple weeks trying to make an appointment, and every time either got disconnected right away or got connected initially but hang up while I was speaking to the receptionist. Not sure what is going on. ====================================================== They offer free wellness check for new patients, and I realized why after my first visit - they are just so good that once you've tried them, you'll rather pay more or drive longer to stay with them. The receptionists are very nice and considerate, the doctor and nurses are responsible, knowledgeable, and have a loving heart, they care and notice small things of your pet. What's more, they never recommend unnecessary checkups, which is a rare quality for many vets in this area.

Great staff. Always takes good care of our dog and cats. Very compassionate when we recently had to put one of our beloved cat to sleep.

I have been taking my cats and dogs here for years and feel they do a good job. Friendly staff and gentle with the animals.

I brought my leopard gecko in with eye problems after seeing two other vets that were unable to help. I was able to bring him in the day I called and leave him overnight and pick him up after work the next day. They treated his problem and he is currently healing wonderfully. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone that is searching for a new vet for their animal.

After extensive looking for an exotics vet somewhere near me, countless fellow reptile owners recommended VHAH and I am beyond happy with the staff and doctors here. My leopard gecko Zeus was able to be seen quickly, and received great care! This will be my vet for all of my reptiles!

We took one of our reptiles 'angel' in as she had an infection and Dr. Barten is fantastic and knows his reptiles. He qas very through and with covid he called us whike we were in the car and discussed fully what he did and what the next steps were. I highly recommend him and the facility as the receptionist who answered us all the times we called and went back was very nice.

We’ve received great care for our animals here. Our dog receive not-so-great care from another clinic. We brought our dog here and his health was revived. This place will give you pet the individualized attention they need. A special shoutout to Dr Castletine; his genuine care for our animals was exceptional. Unfortunately our dog recently passed away but we will be bringing all of our pets here for the best care.

I had such a great experience with VHAH bringing my turtle in today for the first time. The people who helped me book my appointment were super kind, responsive, and emailed me beforehand with an opportunity to explain her background and current issues. The vet who saw her, Dr. Caseltine, was super kind and knowledgeable, and the tech who picked her up was very friendly as well. This was my first time bringing my turtle anywhere and I'm so happy I found a great place so close to us.

Covid has changed many things procedurally wherever you go. Bringing your pet in for an examination is of no exception. While watching the office staff and techs working harder than ever, running in and out (thank you so much) on a recent COLD morning visit, it'll be better when things go back to normal. I'll be patiently waiting to bring in my other pet when that happens!

This is a long overdue review. Dr. Stephen Barten and staff are incredible. The staff is considerate , knowledgeable and welcoming. My daughter's corn snake was found STUCK to the sticky back of his temperature gauge that had fallen off. It was very difficult to find a vet who cares for snakes and had an immediate opening. Dr. Barten cared for the snake delicately, as he carefully removed all the sticky substances from the snakes scales. Thank you Vernon Hills Animal Hospital. Oh and the snake made a full recovery.

They took care of our guinea pigs skin infection. We were nervous since she was our first pet and we werent that familiar with pet care, but this really place took good care of her

The staff really knew what they were doing and had a connection with animals.

We took our pet rat here for what we thought was an abcess. It did not heal and we found out it was a tumor. It got progressively worse and we set up an appointment to euthanize. They were so caring and considerate. We got a paw print impression and our furry friend now rests comfortably. The office did not charge us for this service and it's more complicated with rats. Thank you for making this easier and being so kind.

I went in today for the first time. I adopted a new pup 3 months ago and we were attacked by another dog this morning. They were able to fit me in right away and were great with my dog! I was so thankful someone was willing to see us right away. Every staff member was great with us both! Will be going back as my regular vet! Thank you!

My daughter called everywhere trying to get her snake in to be seen, and she finally found VHAH. She was extremely nervous, as this is her first snake and she had no idea on protocol. The staff and Dr were AMAZING!! They treated her and her snake with so much care. She was put at ease and they explained everything they would do, offered suggestions on some extra care and talked with her instead of at her. She was able to provide feedback freely and felt comfortable asking questions. Definitely have recommended them to others. Much appreciated.

Staff and vets are very friendly! Their Covid-19 procedures are efficient. They took really great care of our dog Stella!

When my snake passed away Dr. Caseltine talked to me throughly about necropsy process and understood my grieving I have never felt uncomfortable talking to him and he helped me feel more at peace.
