It's so nice to be able to call up a veterinarian when you have a sick animal and get in to see them relatively right away at least the same day and not have to wait for 3 to4 hours.

I had to come here to Gilmer Road Animal Hospital tonhave one of my dogs euthanized. The staff and vet were very considerate, helpful, and understanding, as well as compassionate. At the most difficult time of being a pet owner, Gilmer Road Animal Hospital earned a 5 star review. I would have no problems with coming back here for vet services for my other dog. I can't really comment on anything else at this time because I only visited for this one service.

Stay away if u care about your pet, like other reviews say, don't get fooled by the fact that they are being nice to you, they don't know what they are doing. I did bring my cat to them suspecting ringworm..and they said is not,is nothing don't worry about it..and they did a vaccine and I asked if the cat is gonna feel bad after that, they said absolutely not..and after that vaccine my cat was really sick for about 2 weeks, wasn't eating wasn't doing anything..and I did bring him to another hospital to find out that he in fact he has ringworm.and they did give him antibioticsand vitamins and he is fine now..but I got really scared cause he was really sick..and they didn'teven bother to call and check..they did another appointment for a second vaccine shot but no thanks, I'm not getting my cat near this place again..hope this helps other people!

Slightly better prices than others. But like many things in life— you get what you pay for. The vets are nice. Don’t let that fool you into thinking they know what they’re doing! It tricked me at first. After a half dozen appointments, I came to learn that they’re NOT educated beyond the scope of very MINOR health issues. When diagnosed with diabetes, the vet kept doing a search on his phone to answer my questions. I could’ve done that myself! I was given horrible advice. Luckily, I found the Feline Diabetes Message Board (a life saver). It’s sad and unacceptable that I didn’t learn a fraction of the info I got there from my vet. They never return phone calls or respond to emails either. It’s so rude! I read another review saying the advice given almost killed their pet. I feel the same! My cat is now in remission— ONLY because I DIDN’T listen to what the vet told me.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Please do not use this facility if you care about your pet at all. They are unprofessional, unresponsive and their medical recommendations are dangerous and negligent (at best). You will get a response quickly if you’re trying to make an appointment or make a payment. However, if you need help that isn’t going to make them money (even for serious issues)… Good luck getting a response. The treatment recommendations they made nearly killed my cat. I was lucky enough to find a different vet soon enough to catch their mistakes. Within minutes of explaining what I had been told by the doctors at the Gilmer Road Animal Hospital, my new vet immediately recognized the warning signs of “improper and lazy diagnosis”. My cat would not be alive today if I listened to them and didn’t get a second opinion. My new vet was actually “appalled” (his words) at the medical advice I was given. Stay away!!!! At the very least, question any medicine prescribed (including dosage) or advice they give you. Do research on your own and make sure they aren’t making a potentially fatal mistake. I got lucky. I never write reviews but decided I should so maybe I could save another animal who falls victim to these horrible “vets”. I don’t think they deserve to be called that. The majority of the receptionists there are also incredibly rude and unhelpful. They constantly blame their email being down or other nonsense for why they don’t get back to you in a timely manner, but it’s just excuses. The bottom line… No one over there actually cares about the well-being of your pet. Please do not learn that the hard way like I had to. There is so much information on the Internet these days. It’s sad to say, but Google was a better help than these vets. Based on the information I found, I decided to get a second opinion. It literally saved my cats life. So if you’re considering going here… My genuine opinion is: PLEASE DON’T! Or at the very least, be cautious of what you’re told. You owe your pet that much!

Had to see this vet yesterday for our 14 year old cat Tiki. He was the most compassionate vet I have ever come across. Not only did they wait for us to arrive as we had only called about 45 mins before they closed for the day but the DR and staff we so understanding and compassionate. Our Tiki crossed the rainbow bridge last night but this office made that experience so personal even though we had never seen them before. We are new to the area but will be bring all our pets into this vet from now on. I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us. You guys are beyond amazing. Words cannot express how much I appreciate the care we received yesterday. You can see how much you love animals.

Really great! Compassionate and caring staff and Dr. Brar. they got me in right away the day I called and squeezed in a procedure as well and had my dog home by 330pm. I really like this veterinarian. I wish i could take them with me when i go back home. I am from another state visiting family. Really a wonderful experience in a very stressful time.

I took my girl Azula in to get an annual check up and also to talk about some behavioral issues and anxiety that she had been struggling with despite my best efforts to help her. I was really worried that my concerns would be dismissed or downplayed, but the vet there took my concerns seriously and offered options that made sense. They were also all so kind and sweet with Azula, who is a nervous girl, and I feel very lucky to have found them. Appointments are pretty available as well when you call.

We have been going here for years. We recently had to put our dog down and the staff was so kind and made sure we knew every step and were comfortable proceeding. The staff treat my dogs like their own.

We had a very poor experience here. The main reason I came to Gilmer (other than to hopefully find a new vetinerary practice) was for a blood test so that I could start my dog on heartworm medicine. I mentioned it to the doc and the tech multiple times only to find out they didn't do a blood test. When I called to ask about it the tech was unapologetic and told me to bring him back and they could do it - but I would have to pay for another visit. This is one of many issues we experienced during our appointment. Was so frustrated and disappointed in the level of care received. Will never return to this place again.

I LOVE this animal hospital. They got my pup in last minute when my regular vet was booked. Every single staff member was so compassionate and friendly. Dr. Thomas is an absolute Saint, and clearly loves the animals he treats. I highly recommend this hospital.

I really, really love this place. I especially like Dr. Thomas. You will notice that I did not give a 5 star rating. This is because sometimes (often), a promised phone call to let us know results/explanations is not made. I will sit by the phone for hours waiting for the call to know how my beloved Fur Friend is doing---and it never comes. Sometimes (often) you have to keep calling to leave messages that you're still waiting for the call. Maybe they need to hire another helper?? Other than that, I love this practice. They are so kind to my animals. Thank you, Dr. Thomas.

I can’t say enough good things about this animal hospital. I had an emergency with my dog yesterday and my vets office was completely booked so I got in to this hospital. Dr. Brar was the one taking care of my Leo. I was blown away with his expertise and kindness. He was so compassionate, kind and knowledgeable. He stayed passed the hours to take care of him and stabilize him. I have never experienced better veterinary care before. I have 3 dogs. I was a nervous wreck but I felt so much better after meeting him and seeing him take care of my dog. The supports staff was also amazing and kind. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Thank you Gilmer Road animal hospital. You are the best!

Very fast and very reliable. I liked seeing a cat that was on the shelf behind the counter.

We started going here because our friend works there and we’ll never change vets. Dr. Thomas was phenomenal with our cat Dahlia, we went in on short notice because she wasn’t eating and he has her acting like herself again. All of the staff is super friendly and I can’t rave about Dr. Thomas enough. All of my pet (and future pets) will be patients of his.

Our cats love gilmer road! The only thing that could be improved would be if they call you back when they say they would--but they are busy and I get it sometimes. Still recommend!
