Dog Gone Dirty Mundelein, Illinois

Here are the before and after photos of my poor pup. The people are friendly but I am so disappointed in the cut. Pup smells fantastic, was very comfortable with the groomers, just disappointed in the cut. I feel he was butchered. Groomer stated he was matted, but I’ve combed him and he wasn’t that bad at all. I asked for the teddy bear haircut and even if the groomer had to shave him, he is still uneven. Maybe it was just a bad cut, but very disappointed. Edited - again you did not evenly cut the hair regardless of being shaved. A groomer at a minimum should know how to evenly cut hair. Seriously what is going on with the tail also.

Dud a great job trimming both my dogs. My girl dog made it tough but they persevered and did a great job.

We love DGD! Ryan is awesome- he’s even become Uncle Ryan to our girls! We were pretty loyal Petsmart clients until they turned our senior dog away, “diagnosing” her with dementia. Thank goodness Dog Gone Dirty stepped in right away. We’ve since lost her and moved towns...Now we have two other pups and I still don’t ever see us with another groomer. The dogs are not crated or tied up before or after baths, they are free to roam and mingle with other pups; the amount of dogs at any given time in my experience is never overwhelming though, and I’m sure VERY rare circumstances apply. We’ve also used DGD for boarding while traveling which was also a good experience. Highly, highly recommend Dog Gone Dirty!

It was fast and my dog turned out looking great.

I took my dog Copper there today and can I say, I’ve given Copper baths at home and he has never smelled and looked so clean! He’s so shiny and soft and smells so good! I decided to get him groomed because I only have experience trimming dogs with white nails because you can see the quick but Copper has black nails and I didn’t want to hit the quick and make his little toes bleed! I’m an overprotective momma but I would trust them with my boy again! Not only did I feel comfortable with him there but he was so happy and comfortable there!

I've been here 3 times. First time was great, but this time, the last time, was pretty bad. The 1st and the 4th photo I attached were after Dog Gone Dirty the 2nd and 3rd were at my new groomer. (Thanks Google for posting the photos weird) The difference was amazing. I have a pretty big husky. Apparently it took them 45 minuets to wash and dry him. That's impossible. The work itself proved it was impossible- when I picked him up he was half dry. I asked if he could do 10 more he said "I guess I can do 10 more minutes" after the "10 minute" dry session which was more like 5 minutes, he was still wet. The craziest part of all this- when I dropped him off he had some dryed ketchup under his chin when I picked him up the ketchup was still there... signifying they didn't even get his head wet. That's what you get for 45 minuets I guess. The groomer I took him to the other day said there was some soap still on his fur that was caked in there and made it harder to wash him. Makes sense why his fur was sticking upwards. Sucks because they're nice people, just seem to cut corners. Also the place reeks of cigarettes.

They left my dogs hair uneven and uncomfterable for him. They left my dog looking horrible.

We took my miniature poodle to this place, to get her groomed. They did cut her fur, but only on her face. They didn’t cut her nails, nor did they cut the rest of her fur. Terrible place. If you want to get a nice cut, go to petsmart. This place isn’t a place to give your dog a hair cut. Prior to this, we got my puppy a cut and they cut off most of her fur. Leaving her looking like a skinny rat. It’s either no cut or terrible cut. And ever notice how they try to completely ignore all the other bad reviews?

Ryan is wonderful! Very flexible, easy going, gets the job done in a timely manner, and our dogs Nika and Sky always come back looking and smelling great!!

I brought my terrier mix and she was a blonde mess. When I picked her up she was so much more like the little blonde Bombshell. Thank you so very much. every dog owner needs these type of groomers

My dog came out of there as if he survived a war. My dogs hair was so uneven it looked like there were chunks ripped out of him. His face was dirty and so were his feet. When compared to other places, they do the same job for 3 dollars more with better quality. My dog came out of there with a horrible haircut, and dirty face. Strongly do not recommend!

Ryan is awesome. My new puppy enjoyed his 1st grooming and loved playing with the other "guests".

In the spirit of a balanced review, we have been going here roughly two years. The dogs usually look and smell great after they are done. I also love to support small business owners. That said, we will no longer be taking our dogs here. We had two incidents where our dog was injured here. For the first incident, our dog required surgery and Ryan was incredibly apologetic and paid for the vet expenses. I figured that accidents can happen and we kept coming. Just a couple days ago our dog came back with a horrible cut over her eye. We are dealing with it ourselves and have decided not to bring our dogs here anymore. Accidents do happen, but in the 7 years we have owned our dog, the only two times we have needed to bring her to the vet (aside from routine checkups) have been a result of grooming at this establishment.

My dog was skunked at 9pm on a Thursday night. I was home alone with my 2 young kids and I panicked trying to care for the dog and care for my children. I happened to call Ryan at Dog Gone Dirty to see if I could get my dog into his shop the next day. He calmly told me not to worry, he would get him so my car would not smell, and return him later in the evening. This type of service is rare! He charged me a more than reasonable price, called me the next day to see how my dog was doing, and had me bring him in once again to provide another bath to make sure the smell was gone. I have had pleasant experiences with dog groomers for my previous dogs but nothing like Dog Gone Dirty. He also has boarded my dog 4 times and my dog starts to dance when we get close to the store. When your pet is as special as family, it is important to have someone you trust for their care. My family feels very lucky to have found Ryan at Dog Gone Dirty.
