Dr. Dave McKenna is the most exceptional vet. Kind and caring, patient, empathetic, i cannot say enough good things about him. I have been taking pets to him for 20 years in various locations. The new hospital is clean and light and a good staff makes for a pleasant visit. The best!

Service, care, and professionalism are beyond expectations. I trust all 3 of my dogs are in the best hands with Dr. Hirschfield.

Great facility and AMAZING doctors. We have many vets closer to where we live but we choose to travel out of our way for the excellent care provided here.

A receptionist called my sister in law claiming that her dog’s bandages were changed. (Our dog was at home) The receptionist didn’t verify if it was the correct owner, she didn’t know if it was the right dog and responded to my sister in law as if she was dumb??? You have to make sure that you’re calling the right owner for the right dog - Our dog was at home and to get a phone call like that out of the blue, not being able to answer simple questions? Super unprofessional. We didn’t get the receptionist’s name but she called for a dog named “Nike”. They just hire anyone nowadays. Poor customer service.

We absolutely love Dr. Hirschfield. She has looked after all our animals. It is a pleasure taking our new pup to this practice - she always comes out happy. The staff are friendly and always happy to help.

I truly can't say enough good things about this animal hospital. I brought Sasha, my 14-year-old dog with end-stage kidney failure, to see Dr. McKenna for the first time a few weeks ago. He was very honest about both the treatment plan and the likelihood of its success. I was very grateful that he took the time to call me every morning and at the end of the day to update me regarding her hospital stay. He answered every question that I asked with honesty and compassion. I only wish that I had found this animal hospital earlier on in Sasha's diagnosis. Just wanted to give a special shout-out to the techs. Sasha never took a treat from any other vet or grooming place. She took one from here! :) I also wanted to thank Peyten at the front desk for being so responsive to all of my emails. She was very friendly and patient. Based on my experience, I don't believe you can go wrong here. They are incredible.

WLF Animal Hospital was out of the prescription dog food we needed so Patrick called several different places and called me back with a location and to let me know it was being held for me! SO helpful!

In the summer of 2019, we had just moved to the area only a month prior and had not found a vet in the area yet. We woke up one morning to a crisis with our beloved bloodhound, on a Saturday, and they happened to be the first place I found via Google and were close to our house. I called and explained our situation and they were able to take us in only a half hour later, and I was so grateful to have a regular appointment instead of having to pay for an emergency vet. Unfortunately, the situation was life threatening and we had to put him down. They were incredibly kind, patient, and explained everything that was going on. We will forever be grateful to the whole team that day and in particular Dr. Hirschfield for the compassion they showed us in that difficult situation. We now bring our pit mix to them for regular checkups, nail trims and when he had to go through a minor surgery last year. Dr. Pollack is always so kind, smart and great with him, and truly seems to like him, which is always so nice! She always takes the time to answer my questions and talk through any issues going on. From the kind and professional staff who answer the phones/greet you, to the vet techs, to the vets themselves, truly a wonderful place!

Update: Dr.McKenna and partners have an efficient system during this covid period AND new facility. Animal Hospital of West Lake Forest has a team of caring, smart professionals! ...and, when needed, they easily move to connect you with specialists and work well coordinating specialized care. The office is welcoming and efficient. We've used them for over 40 years. We are fortunate to have them in town!

We are fairly new to the area and have been bringing our cat here after she developed asthma. The vets are extremely kind and the office is very accommodating. Highly recommend!

I met Dr. Hirschfield at a job fair almost 2 years after moving to the area. I was looking for a great Vet for my 2 dogs and I actually didn't know she was the veterinary at the time of talking to her. She provided amazing care to my senior aged dog who was 17 years old. Today, I had to make the difficult decision to have my dog laid to rest. Dr. Hirschfield was amazing in explaining everything to me, comforting me, and making sure all my questions were answered and assured me that everything was going to be as peaceful as possible. I left the clinic feeling calm in a time of sorrow knowing that my dog had been well provided for and her needs were met up until the last moment. Dr. Hirschfield and the team have been amazing since day 1 and I really appreciate the staff at Animal Hospital of Lake Forest and all they do!

I recently went in to have my cat put down. The staff were very understanding that this was a difficult decision for me and my mother. They were very comforting and made the process very quick and easy for us. Very professional, but also human. No other Animal Hospital I've ever been to deserves a 5 star ranking more than this location.

Dr. DiFuccia is a wonderful, professional, and brilliant veterinarian. If you have the ability to bring your pets to the Animal Hospital of West Lake Forest, you will be extremely satisfied and grateful. Lastly, the reception and vet technicians go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable at all times. The staff is so incredibly friendly that other vet offices should take note.

After moving from the city to the North Shore I was referred to W Lake Forest Animal Hospital by a friend / vet tech who works with a number of vets in the area. My dog is 4 years old and (cross-fingers) only needs the annual checkup, shots, and heartworm and flea + tick meds. So far we've seen two of the doctors here and I've been happy with the knowledge, care and patience they show me and my pup. My pup is a nervous nelly in general, and while she does shake when she realizes we're at the vet, the appointments are the right amount of fast so we're in and out likety split! I recommend W Lake Forest Animal Hospital!

We found a practice where everybody is not only capable but also very sensitive with both animals and owners. Our dogs are in good hands with dr. MCKenna, who always makes time to talk with us. Dr. Di Fuccia was extremely helpful too when we needed him. Staff is pleasant, location is nice. We highly recommend it!
