This is our second time spring through them and it was a nice process. Their facilities are great for the animals and simple to explore for adoptees. The animals are well cared for and safe. Derek (our new kitty) and Ciaran (one we adopted from here 11 years ago) are already chatting away on opposite sides of their door.

After a month trying to go through so much with other rescues I thought I'll check here. Place is huge and very nice. Cat area seemed cleaned . But man hard to look at the cats. I found my two they named them Channing and Stealth but still working on changing their names. The process was very nice and not pushing. Thanks

We adopted our dog, Annie (originally Anne), a little over three months ago and can’t say how great HHS was to adopt from. We came in on a Wednesday and had a couple dogs in mind to check out. The wonderful receptionist, Anne-Marie, made us feel at ease right away and matched our enthusiasm about checking out a few of their dogs. Immediately, we were drawn to Annie and after filling out an adoption application, we spoke with a counselor about the type of dog we would want to adopt and she did a great of informing us about each dog that we were interested in. We ended up taking Annie out for over an hour and playing with her and decided to sleep on it. The next day we came back and adopted her and we can’t imagine life without her! Although we didn’t have all the information regarding Annie’s life before HHS, the staff did an amazing job of giving us as much info and resources as possible to making it a seamless transition from shelter to home. We will recommended HHS to friends and family who are looking to adopt because of their awesome staff, very clean facility, and the care and effort they pour into their animals!

I'm a volunteer at the Hinsdale Humane Society, so my judgment might be skewed, but the staff and volunteers are excellent and they do such a great job at saving lives and finding new, forever homes for the cats, dogs, and the occasional hamster or bunny that comes their way.

I got a dog there and it had several parisites and a dislocated hip, which needed surgery. They do their best to take care of the animals, but they do not always get treated right. The wait to get an animal is also very long. The entire trip took several hours, and a lot of that was waiting for the staff to get organized. The staff are very nice though.

I adopted my pup from here, such a nice and clean facility with really friendly staff. You can tell they really care about the animals in their shelter. Would HIGHLY recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a new pet :)

A good samaritan found my dog on my lawn and sent her to the hinsdale humane society after her tag came off last night. (My house was in the photo of the original post) Unfortunately, I did not pick her up in the same condition. I was let known that my dog hurt her foot which had to be bandaged, because she was scared while they were cleaning her off (?) When I got home, I realized shortly all 4 of her feet are profusely bleeding via bloody tracks all over the floor. Then I find out there are now blood stains on the entire back seat of the car. I have to call out of work now to take her to urgent care, after waiting an hour for them to release her to me. They also charged me a $25 microchip fee although I was able to provide the full original documents of her current microchip, and it’s exact location. Our vet scans both dogs every year to see if it’s moved. I don’t know how long or hard they look for it, but if they don’t find it… I guess we will just have two… which is great.

My husband and I called ahead to see if we could come look at a puppy. We explained that we wanted to meet the puppy first before bringing our kids, we were told that was a good idea. When we arrived, we filled out the application and waited to see the puppy. We were then told no, we could not see any puppies without our children present. Waste of our time and extreme incompetence.

My husband and I adopted our cat from HHS in October 2020 and recently just adopted a kitten. Everyone we encountered (specifically Samantha, Carla, Cassie and Lia) were incredibly knowledgeable and kind. You can tell the staff is truly dedicated to matching the animals with the right home. There are so many factors that go into adopting and HHS made the experience positive and seamless each time. Thank you Hinsdale for finding and matching us with our best friends! :)

Samantha needs to be fired! I can't imagine a person with such a disgusting attitude would be a director of anything. Especially when it comes to the safety of the people who adopted a pet with a questionable disposition. Shame on you Samantha and shame on the staff that pretended they didn't know her name. I find it odd that employees are not aware of their bosses name. Way to c.y.a.!

This is the fourth time we have adopted a pet from them. The first was over 20 years ago. They were super knowledgeable and super supportive back then, and nothing has changed now. Great place to find a pet. We looked at other shelters but always came back here. Wish I could give 6 stars.

I'd give zero stars if I could. My son was interested in adopting a dog. My husband and son visited the dog twice without me and then wanted me to come meet him. Upon arrival some inconsiderate, unkind employee reprimanded me and my husband asking if I was his wife and if so I need to know that they cant keep showing us this dog unless we were prepared to adopt it TODAY! She went on and on that she has other things to do like feed the pets etc. I would think you would want a family to see an animal more than once so they can make the correct the decision for their family. She clearly thought otherwise. A totally unpleasant experience.

This review is way long overdue. However, I am very much pleased with the two cats I adopted from Hinsdale Humane Society. A male cat (Simba) formerly known as Andy and a female cat (Chloe) formerly known as Dottie. They both have their own unique personalities. Simba is a bit laid back and vocal whereas Chloe is a bit quiet and playful. They are two peas in a pod. Recently, Chloe got out of the house and was lost for a few days and has returned home safe and sound. I want to commend Kathy at Hinsdale Humane. She was very helpful with calming me down by providing me with great instructions/tips on how track down/find Chloe and it worked! Amen! I highly recommend adopting from Hinsdale Humane Society due to the Awesome Staff and pets.

Rocky is the best dog ever! German Shepard Carolina Dog Mix we think. The place does a great job preparing dogs for adoption. After applying for dog online you have to go in ASAP to get it though. They will not hold dogs.

They had a "Cat cafe" where we were in a room with a bunch of kittens! They offered tea and banana bread. I wish it was longer just because I love animals. Would definitely do it again to support the cause!

They were very helpful when it came to finding us the perfect cat! From recommending cats with the personalities we were looking for to answering any questions we had. I'm forever grateful and I couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better cat.

Got my bunny Bonita here, very very kind staff I highly recommend, also not overpriced for a bunny like other places I visited only 50 bucks for my 5 month old bunny! Love this place :)

A wonderful shelter full of wonderful staff. They were very knowledgeable about each of the animals they had there and they took time to explain every aspect of the adoption process and any further care we would need. We adopted two very playful kittens and a very happy. Our family has adopted from HHS before and they truly care about their animals and who adopts them.
