Went looking for a kitten. We were led through a professional application process. We got to meet and spend time with our prospective kitten. Everything worked out & she's been with us for 3 days now & is fitting in great. Save a pet is a fantastic resource with a very professional and helpful staff.

I came in today at 4:31 pm and the lady and man said that I couldn’t adopt because it was 1 min. past 4:30 I thought they were very rude I came all the way up there from Gurnee, IL don’t even know if I will be back

I adopted two kittens a few years back from them. The staff was very professional and Informative. I was very impressed with how clean the facility was and with how well the cats and dogs were taken care of.

They are great with helping you find the right pet to love.

I would’ve given them 5 stars but it’s a very unprofessional employee, that ruined it for everyone. I will say he did do his job contacting my vet to get this sorted out for my dogs Prescription food, however did send over the incorrect prescription , and when I called he said that the vet wouldn’t be able to send the correct one until Monday, now my Nacho Dog has to go with out his scrip food. Seriously if a dog is on Script food you would think they would do there JOB to make sure the right script gets sent over.

My daughter and I just adopted Tilly who we have named Stino and we are excited to bring her home tomorrow! The staff at Save-A-Pet were friendly and helpful in answering questions and I was impressed with the care that they give to the animals in their care. I am excited to have this journey with my daughter of caring for Stino and having her join our family. Thank you!!

I wen to take a puppy that I found on the road walking and one of the personal that I spoke to it told me the wasn't able to take care of the puppy because they were close but every body it was there in the building so I ask what you suggested to do to leave the puppy in the middle of my o where he answer yes because I can't take it in .

I’ve been working with Jesse in the animal health department on caring for my foster cat. Jesse has been amazing with following up with me, answering questions and getting me the tools and medications my cat needs. I am so grateful for the help and to be working with someone knowledgeable and who seems to genuinely care. Thanks Jesse!!

Good organization to rescue a dog or cat. They were extremely patient with us and cared for the dogs really well.

I have donated many times and i have found two kittens and a mother cat very lovable and seems healthy but they wont exept them .unreal i will donate else where now ????

Not very helpful , closed , and only can get in if you call and get an appointment .

Very clean and well run animal shelter. They were available at exactly my appointment time and showed respect and compassion to me and the animals they were caring for. Most important, the young lady showing me a dog LOVED that dog and her job. It was so obvious.

Great experience with adopting our puppy Onyx. The staff was very friendly and informed.

I did not go there, I called about fostering. The receptionist must have just been having a bad day. I hear good things about them

The staff behaves very professional, but still friendly. They care for their pet boarders, so they also care about the family they will be going to. Please adopt a pet and show compassion to our animal friends.

We adopted two amazingly sweet and playful Siamese cats from Save-A-Pet. I can tell that everyone who works here want to make absolutely sure that the pets that end up here go to loving homes from the interview screening. It is also very obvious that the animals in their care are well taken care of until they are able to find homes from them. If you are looking for a new pet make sure you check out Save-A-Pet!

Clean environment but need s lot of paperwork and forms in order to adopt

I use to visit this place and I ffg ound they kept the kennels clean. I also use to foster kittens for them.

Don't relinquish, (give up) your pets to this shelter. They're unfeeling, no professionalism. The residents get a free stay in jail card. They're not placing new family members, they are way too heavy handed. Shame on the long standing staff. Newer staff a breath of fresh air. Will not ever go back. Poor pups entrusted to their care!

The place is clean and staff really love the animals.. the animals are well taken care of and you don't feel like crying when you leave..I have adopted 3 cats

I would definitely recommend adopting from Save-A-Pet! They are a no kill shelter and have such lovely animals to adopt. They also make sure to let you know if any pets aren't good with kids, other pets, or if they have any health issues. My family has been using Save-A-Pet since before I was even born. We had to bring in a pregnant stray cat almost 25 years ago and they kept us updated on her health and that if the kittens, and even let us see them when they were born! Amazing customer service and the employees are clearly animal lovers!

Horrible experience trying to adopt cats. In light of Covid-19 we fully support wearing masks to meet animals but when told our two year old absolutely MUST wear a mask (despite state requirements being OVER age 2) and that there is no exception to the policy, that's ridiculous. He's two, how can you expect him to keep a mask on? So we requested that our two year old not be required to meet the cats because #1 he's two what real benefit are you getting from this introduction and #2 we already own pets know he is completely comfortable around animals. We were told it was against policy and they were unwilling to work with us on the matter What kind of organization can actually afford to TURN AWAY families willing to pay and adopt animals!? Such a disserve to these rescue animals, shame on you!!!

Can anyone say discrimination? I spent a few minutes with a dog I was interested in. I had decided to adopt but wanted my best friend to come meet him too as I spend a lot of time with her family. There was another person in the waiting room and they were also interested in the same pup. Now for the awesome part - I was told that because I did not have a child or other dog to bring in to meet the one I had met, that they wouldn’t hold the animal (whereas if I had the child or dog they would hold for an hour or two). My best friend wasn’t good enough. At the end of the day a pet gets a home - but I walk away feeling terrible anyway.
