Good place to take your dog for issues pertaining to your dog. Helpers, techs and vet are very efficient, to top it off I was expecting to be charge and I wasn't! Not even a Donation box present. Thank you Evanston Animal....

They took in an injured kitten I found. She was only three weeks old and had a hernia. They took her to a vet and agreed to pay for her surgery until she was grown enough to be operated on. These people are angels. I highly recommend donating to them.

My partner and I were interested in adopting a dog, so we decided to stop into the Evanston Animal Shelter. Little did we know that we would come home the next day with our beautiful Coco. Coco is a senior dog who deserved to enjoy her last few years filled with love and happiness. We are blessed every day to be the ones to take her in. We recommend the Evanston Animal Shelter to all of our friends, co-workers and family. My sister even went in recently and came home with a wonderful cat whom she loves very much! It's a great place to go and find your future fur-baby. They care deeply for their animals and truly want them to find a happy home!

Super nice people. They have a program that allows my kid to practice reading by reading to shelter animals. Always see them walking the dogs in their care.

I’ve adopted 2 dogs from EASA and every aspect of the process ran smoothly. Staff is very helpful, kind and supportive even after you take your pet home. Facility is also very clean and kept. Thank you EASA!

Absolutely outstanding organization. Their staff and volunteers and board are filled with incredible individuals. From their procedures and policy’s on site and off, to their dedication and support and love to their community and the animals that end up in their care. Their animals are given top notch TLC, and even training and other support when needed. Everyone at EAS should be proud to be on the right side of animal rescue!

They were incredibly helpful in giving us food, toys, and even a crate to get us started with our new dog. They were friendly and showed real care for the animals.

While I love all shelters and think they do amazing things for animals, the costumer service here was absolutely terrible. My family and I were highly interested in adopting a cat and they could not have been more unhelpful and stand off-ish. We followed their directions in this adoption process, were told that we would be able to adopt, and then they went back on their word several times. I would not adopt from here in the future, especially when working with Vicky. She acted like we were bothering her in wanting to take one of their animals home and show them love. On top of that, the Shelter was not very clean and quite cramped. There were animals kept in the bathroom, and they were overall not very organized.

As first-time foster parents, my boyfriend and I have had an amazing experience with EAS. They give us everything we need and request (we don’t pay for food or anything for the fosters), they provide us with a trainer, and they are always available to help out. They truly care for their animals and spend a lot of time making sure we get fosters who are a good fit for us. I grew up fostering animals, and my family can’t believe all of the support EAS gives us. For anyone considering becoming a first-time foster parent or pet owner, I highly recommend working with EAS. This is a really special place.

I have fostered many animals from this shelter and have always had the best experience. They are very diligent in their application process and screen very thoroughly. When given an animal they are extremely thorough with instructions but still make you feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend this shelter to everyone!

I have adopted from other shelters and wanted to give Evanston Animal Shelter a try, what a mistake that was. The whole experience was awful. The people there were rude, condescending and kept going back on their word. Vicki had terrible customer service and was so stand offish and disrespectful. She clearly cared more about politics of the shelter than the well being of the animals. The shelter was also dirty and foul smelling. The animals were cramped on top of each other and even put animals in the bathroom... definitely not the treatment these poor animals deserve. I would recommend going elsewhere for your adoption. I understand this is a shelter, but it is also still a business, that should treat their customers with kindness and respect when they are saving a life of an animal.

I visit this shelter often and I'm always greeted with a welcoming smile and hello. This may sound crazy... but I'm not sure if they know my name... not because they didn't ask or want to know...I never gave them my name , however they know who I am and without hesitation they meet my needs and take pleasure in doing so. The animals here seem so happy and well cared for. If I were a pet I'd have no worries here.

Really terrible customer service. I walked in, stood and looked around for anyone to help me out. There was one staff member occupied for a while with people that came before me. I took a seat waiting for the next staff to help me. Couple more staff members passed by without any eye contact as I heard more in the hall on my right. Later heard they had brand new puppies to take care of I don't think that was an excuse to not ask if I had been helped. None of them looked at me as I sat on the bench looking around and on my phone. I was patient, but 20-30 minutes seems quite a long time to get a survey. Until I spoke up asking for any help from the 5th person that worked there and had been passing by. After that the experience was okay. They said they had a small selections of dogs which I did not mind but the staff member that assisted me was the staff member that helped the people before me. She asked a few questions kindly and I asked to see a dog she recommended which was brought out in minutes. My trip that I thought was going to take 10-20 turned into a 40-50 minute trip. Majority of the staff seemed to not care for single walk-ins as the family after me was attended to right as they walked through the doors. A staff immediately asked if they needed any help before everyone was through the doors. I on the other hand sat and waited until I was impatient and had to ask for help. I'm sure it's a great shelter for animals, unfortunately most of the staff members seemed to not be too attentive and only pick out whether or not they would like to help customers.

I'm a volunteer there, I only work with the cats. There are a lot of very cute kittens and very sweet adult cats.

My daughters and I was ready for a new addition to the family. We met "B". We had such a good time. It was like an instant connection. We spent some time with "B" and was mentally adjusting our lives to include him. I was glad we went. The sad news was that we not able to adopt him. We were told that we were inexperienced and he required someone with more dog experience. Although I understood, I was sadden and heart broken. I didn't think i would get so close so fast. But i did.

The Evanston animal shelter is a really well run shelter. The facilities are on the small side compared to some shelters, but they make the most with what they have and always treat both the animals, and people (volunteers, potential adopters) with respect. Great place!

I want to give them a five star for being so caring about the animals there and trying to make sure they go to the right family. The adoption process may seem different from that of other shelters because this place asks you to fill out a survey first. That's fair though because it helps the shelter see what kind of person you are and which animals would make a better fit with your lifestyle. After looking around (which does not take long cuz it's a small place), you would get a chance to meet the animal (or pair of animals) privately in a room. I did not find my match today but I hope everyone there will soon find one.

Adorable and well-cared for animals. The volunteers and staff are very knowledgeable, passionate, and eager to help! My daughter was delighted with the kittens; she's now begging to be able to volunteer here!

Not much interaction with the pets. They are in cages so you can't even pet them.
