Very friendly front desk (even at 9pm during an ice storm with a phone issue) and saw our dog as soon as they could (given that they were swamped and it was a non life threatening situation). They were organized with their covid protocol so we always knew what we were supposed to do and about how long things would be. Great care of our pet and very clear precise after care instructions. Hopefully we never need an emergency vet again but would definitely recommend.

I called in regards to my 8 month old kitten basically dieing (weak, white gums, nose & eyes, hard time breathing, not eating) & they told me they were at full capacity & to go somewhere else. When I called BluePearl they told me to go to Elk Grove ASAP becauss it was closer & they couldn't believe they said that to me. MY KITTEN WOUND UP DIEING.

I called at 1 A.M after my dog had bloody diarrhea all day and was not eating or drinking. I was so scared and the receptionist, tech, and Dr. were all very friendly and compassionate and truly helped my dog. They explained everything to me as well and how to administer her medication. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Horrible place. Been here twice and both times they haven't helped my cat. The first time my cat was having issues breathing, gasping for air super sick. They said "just wait it out" I waited two days and it got worse, I took her to golf rose and they found that her lungs were enlarged and she needed some antibiotics and steroids because she also had a FEVER. If I waited it out who knows what could've happened. Front desk lady ALWAYS rude. This time my cat has some odd behavior and hasn't peed in the past 48 hours. They said they couldn't determine what was wrong without blood work or x rays and I should just go to my regular vet because it's cheaper. I told them THREE time I have a video of my cat that shows why I'm concerned and they dismissed it all three times. MAYBE the video would've shown what was going on so you could properly diagnose?? (I couldn't go in "due to covid") they ended up giving her pain meds and I decided that after an hour and a half of them checking her vitals (there were only two other people in the parking lot at 12am) I was going to take the meds for her and just wait for my regular vet in the morning since apparently they found nothing wrong with her.... Plus, have you seen the other reviews about animals dying due to their negligence? Awful AWFUL. Golf rose, buffalo grove, literally anywhere else. Save the time, save the confusion and save your pets life with REAL veterinarians.

I can’t tell you how amazing this place is !!!! They answered the phone at 3am on Christmas Day because our poor cat ,Winnie, was not feeling good. I was able to bring him in and they took excellent care of him. The staff was extremely friendly and very caring when handling Winnie. They listened to all my questions and concerns. I can’t thank this place enough for being there for us when we were so concerned. I would highly recommend coming here when your pet is in need. They were upfront on the costs and guided us through the process.

I took my 10 week old puppy in today because he was in excruciating pain. They let me know his pain is due to a bladder stone and they were able to help him right away! He is now at home feeling much better. He will need surgery and they even printed me out a sheet of other surgeons in the area! They are very professional and super helpful!

Went here when my dog had an emergency. They were willing do do lab work and x-rays, but informed me that if he needed surgery (which he did) they would be unable to do it. What good is that? I went to Golf-Rose Animal Hospital, where the took him directly into surgery after diagnosis.

Buster our 17 year old rescue chihuahua mix (?) was slowly going down hill for the last year or so. He was having trouble walking right due to previous TIA (suspected) collapsing trachea making him cough at times, cataracts, pain in shoulders when picked up. We managed him well and kept him comfortable for years. Yet, last night, he started pacing, vomiting, diarrhea, squealed when tried to be picked up. This went on for over 5 hours. I knew this was the time to make him comfortable again. My regular vet wasn't in Saturday night/Sunday morning. I didn't want Buster to be in pain any more. I made the hardest decision I have had to make, to put him at rest. I called Elk Grove Veterinary and Specialty and they were so kind on the phone and took all of the information needed so that when we arrived, everything was ready. We were in a family waiting room when they brought Buster to us for the procedure. They had taken him for only a few minutes to put in an IV for the injections. They were so kind and compassionate. It truly made me feel better that I knew his body was going, after his passing, with such compassionate people . I knew they would take good care of his remains. We decided not to have his ashes returned to us but were told that they would be scattered around the crematorium grounds with the other pets. I hope this is true and he just won't be put into the garbage somewhere. I wish I knew the crematorium used so I could go see the grounds. I have to say though that every staff person was polite, caring, and seemed to understand just how hard of a decision this is for the owners. I will always miss Buster even though he will last in my heart. It helps so much that the entire procedure was done like they were family and cared for Buster too, even though this was the first time they had every seem him. Follow up: Found out crematorium is Metro. I was told that it is a nice place with benches and grass around where they distribute the ashes. Turns out, it is farm that has this crematorium and they spread the ashes in the fields. Not what I would have wished for him, but too late now. I asked the vet place at the time if they had a small disposable container so we could distribute the ashes, but were told no only the wooden and metal ones on display. Metro does offer disposable decorated tubes just for ash distribution but apparently Elk Grove doesn't have those.

I’ve been going to this emergency vet for a couple months but now I understand just how bad their service is. I have never been treated in my life with such unprofessionalism, hostility and disrespect as I was with the discharging nurse here. We brought our pregnant dog in to be treated for diarrhea because we were worried for her puppies and the discharging nurse basically verbally attacked us in a hostile tone of voice saying we’ve had more than enough time to bring our dog to a general vet to get an ultrasound, that all her puppies will die because we are lazy, and that we needed to stop bringing our dogs there because diarrhea is not an emergency even though vets have told us if a dog has diarrhea for more than 2 days we need to bring them to an emergency vet. We are on the phone every day with vets trying to get a sooner appointment but because of covid the wait is around 2-3 weeks. Both of our dogs we’ve brought there they haven’t been able to be given a conclusive diagnosis of why they have diarrhea. One dog we brought we spent a total of $3,500 on for stitches, the second we spent $270 for diarrhea and $850 as a precaution after he ate part of foam mat, and the third we were so enraged and upset with being verbally assaulted by the discharging nurse that we walked out without paying. Bottom line: IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMALS, AND DO NOT WANT TO BE TREATED WITH HOSTILITY AND DISRESPECT FOR CARING ABOUT THEIR HEALTH, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE!!! I willing to bet this place pays a firm to post positive reviews because the one star reviews I’ve read all match exactly the experience we had.

Came here with our first puppy about 4 times within 3 weeks and every time we came they were very compassionate and professional, they took care of our baby as best as they could. Unfortunately he passed due to a congenital issue but they were able to keep him as comfortable as they could. The team was very caring and gentle during the entire process. I love how well they took care of our furry baby and how they made sure we were alright.

I used the emergency vet when my dog cut his paw at daycare right as I arrived to pick him up. He was bleeding a lot and I was so worried about him. The staff was able to take him back right away and provide the care he needed. The staff took the time to explain everything that was happening to me and provide me with options for my dogs care. My dog is at home healing now because of their great work. I would recommend Elk Grove Vet. to everyone I know if their dog is sick or injured. The staff are great and provide an amazing level of care.

We brought in our 17 year old cat this week who was very ill with kidney and bladder stones . The doctors, nurses and front office staff were all amazing. They helped talk us through every care option at every step, even giving us a call at 6:30am to give us updated information from his overnight stay. Unfortunately, at 17 there were too many complications and they did a wonderful job of helping us make some very difficult end of life decisions. I would confidently recommend them for all emergency pet care.

I had my doubts when we took our cat in on the 25th of August. I had many bad experiences when I lived in Chicago. Dr. Allison Fedash was patient as my husband was more upset than I. She suggested an X-ray after all blood work came back showing our cat was sick. After giving our approval finally, she explained that Sammy had cancer. We know there is no cure so we went back in to euthanize him. Her actions and all the staff were very compassionate and understanding. It was a very difficult time. I believe they did an outstanding job. I have 3 cats left and would definitely go back. Thank you for Dr. Fedash and all the staff that were there in Sammy's time of need.

My son brought cookie in. Service was good. I believe they over price a Dog splint and a dog collar cone that not secured for a German Shepard weight 90 pounds. I called for dog records did not receive them. Another vet gave them to us. Made a anther called for a price check and make of the dog Splint Sorry Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty. They were great we worked it out. Please note when it comes to our pets we emotionally upsetting when there hurting. But we forget we need to stay calm. They did the best they can for our Cookie. Broken paw was in soft cast for 14 weeks NO SURGERY! Thank again it was set great for the next Orthopedic Specialty

Just like all the other locations such as Lisle, Saint Charles, they won’t take animals and see them.. This idea that these places are 24 hours is ridiculous how can you be open 24 hours and advertise it on your website when you’re really not open 24 hours and you don’t help animals you reject them…I’m really surprised that I can’t get any help from my animal because no place wants to help my animal which is really sad and disappointing all of them have proven to be false advertisers on their websites unfortunately

Everyone was very nice & friendly. I like that the Dr. didn’t charge me for things I didn’t need. Clean office, happy that they are close by. I definitely recommend this office, and trust them with my dog.

I have taken my dog here a few times and everytime I’ve had great service and everyone was extremely helpful BUT when I called today to explain a problem I mentioned that his nails were over grown and causing him some discomfort and the lady on the phone said “we only do emergencies not nail trimmings” and before I could explain anymore she hung up while I was speaking.. extremely rude and disappointing.

EMILY CIRONE IS THE MOST AMAZING PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. DURING THE DIFFICULT TIME TO PUT MY DOG SAMMY DOWN, SHE WAS THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. SHE HELPED ME WHEN I COULD NOT MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT HIS ASHES AND HELPED PICK OUT THE PERFECT BOX. SHE NEVER LEFT MY SIDE AS I CRIED AND MADE SURE I WAS OKAY AFTER HE FELL ASLEEP. SHE IS NOT ONLY AN AMAZING VET TECH, BUT A GENUINE PERSON. I WOULD COME BACK IF NEEDED ANYTIME BECAUSE OF THE WONDERFUL WORK SHE DID.

Had to bring our shepard in emergency and everyone here is amazing.Unfortunately, she had heart cancer and they made the most, most horrible part of having a furry baby pass on with compassion. Thank you for being Angels that can do this kind of work. Paws up to you.

Took my dog, Ellie here after she had multiple cluster seizures. They were extremely kind and explained everything amazingly. They also took the initiative to contact my normal vet and gave constant updates.

This place is a ripoff. Everything is overpriced. My dog got bloodwork, an iv & sugar, and the bill was almost $700!!! What a joke! Not to mention the vet telling us that this is probably it for the dog & to consider putting her down. Well guess what, after seeing the best vet around (Lombard Veterinary Hospital) shes fine. Dont waste your money here unless its absolutely positively the last resort, and then prepare to be shocked when they give you the bill & a dead dog back Im anticipating some lame reply that they’re going to try and put on this review to save their reputation…”we did our best blah blah blah..” complete nonsense They even copy & paste the replies !!! Ive found a few families that lost their pet, and elk grove vet couldn’t even give them the dignity of a personal reply!!!!! SHAME ON YOU

I would not even give a star to this horrible place. Because of their negligence my family dog passed away. They misdiagnosed our dog 3 times and they were not taking our concerns serious.

Wish I can give more than 5 stars. They took care of my dog & her ashes. Unfortunately my dog has passed, but the amount of love & care that this vet showed is amazing. Sent a heart felt letter for their condolences. Highly recommend.

Our 9 mo. Bullmastiff was not acting right all day and was totally lethargic before we went to bed. Very unusual for a rambunctious puppy. We didn't want to take any chances so we thought it would be best to get him checked out. The VCA 24 hour vet we've gone to before in Franklin Park is no longer open 24 hours so we had to Google another animal hospital. We came to Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency. It was a little out of our way but didn't mind to go drive an extra 30 minutes for our precious puppy. They were SO nice and extremely sensitive to our concerns. The vet and staff were caring, compassionate and professional. We will definitely take our dog here again but hopefully we won't need to.

The truth is that I was extremely dissapointed with their service. Our dog was only 2 years old and she was not only misdiagnosed once, but she was misdiagnosed 3 times in a week. Both doctors simply said "she will get better and her abnormal breathing is because of anxiety" they said. When we brought her in another time, she had a clear wound on her side and they said that apparently it was some sort of insect bite. They also said that this would heal on its own, but it didn't. When we brought her to another hospital, they immediately swabbed her wound and diagnosed her in a short time. She had a deadly fungal infection that had already reached her brain and lungs. Our dog was paralyzed, blind, and in a coma. Watching my dog die was truly traumatic, and to think that all of this could have been avoided had she received proper care. Our dog was our companion during my mom's cancer treatment and she is dead now due to their negligence. Im sorry but I do not reccomend this place at all.

Came here today to rush our sweet Sophie in to get checked out after she had fallen off the couch and withstood some severe injuries. Our regular vet would not take emergencies and recommended this place. From the first call to our last moments with her, this place was incredible. We knew the tough decision had to be made, but were so grateful for the compassion, love, and patience this vet had with us. We got to say our goodbye to Sophie on a beautiful 80 degree day, outside (her favorite place), and got to spend some time with her saying our goodbye. We watched her go in peace and we’re so grateful to the staff who worked with her. Our family couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you to everyone who answered all my calls, who helped our beloved Sophie, and who assisted her on her path to heaven. We are forever grateful❤️
