Changed my review, the surgery went great. But the after care was not working because my dog is stubborn and scarily intelligent. There was a disagreement in terms of wound care. I would give this place another try since everything else went good. But as far as an infected wound, dressings should be changed twice a day. The vet wanted me to keep the same bandage on for DAYS. Either way my dog found a way to take it off (within minutes) she said there was no way my dog will be able to remove the cone. But, my dog is apparently an escape artist. All the care, prices, and meds were set up well. I just did not agree with the bandage situation. This place is simply too far away for me to be driving back and forth to several times in a row. I have resorted to my own devices with the help of my mom (an RN) and a friend who is a vet.

We moved to NWI approx. 3 years ago. We have three aging animals- 12 year old Boston/Pug, 13 years old Pug, and 13 year old Tuxedo cat. A vet is a very important part of animal care as they age. We have all senior animals so their care is more important now than ever. When we started going to McPheron- I was happy with the care our animals received. He was obviously overbooked at times but gave us the time to ask questions and was kind. My review is for people that are looking for compassionate and caring attention when looking for treatment on their animals. Last Thursday I took my 13 year old Pug in since she was lethargic, wouldn't eat, and throwing up. They had a stand in vet which we had seen one other time that we didn't particularly care for. He gave her a blood test, xray and she had a fever. He treated her for the vomiting and diarrhea. Friday and into Saturday she didn't get any better. Called to have her see Dr. Sam Saturday and they said they were overbooked and he couldn't see her- said to take her to 24 hour vet. Never had I experienced a vets office not being concerned about a dog they care for. We did end up taking her to Crossroads and they performed a pancreas blood test, unknown that the vet didn't get for this, and she was confirmed to have pancreatitis. It had gotten so bad at that point, we had to pay for 48 hours of IV treatment. She was in unnecessary pain for 2 days because McPheron's clinic was incompetent. She came home on the Monday. They never called to check on her or see how she was doing. It could have killed her. They couldn't explain why I wasn't even offered to have the blood test for her pancreas performed. I spent $350 for a useless visit. If you are looking for compassionate care, then avoid this place. I would've respect the vet on Thursday had he told me that it was out of his wheelhouse to diagnose her and to bring her somewhere else- but rather said to keep her on anti diarrheal long term. She didn't even have diarrhea and has not since that visit whatsoever. Just like with a nursing home for elderly patients, what really matters is if someone truly cares. This vet does not.

Use this place at your own risk, but be aware that this place have ZERO customer service, the doctor have no bedside manners, and the front desk are only there to push you to buy flee medication or food. There are no respect for the animals and when questioned about why things were done a certain way, the front desk personnel is very rude and brushes you off without addressing your concerns. I used this clinic services for a total of 3 times. At the second visit I was already unpleased with the services received, but decided to give another try. I should of have listened to my gut and taken my dogs elsewhere. To make a long story short, I took my 1 year old dog here for a spay surgery. During check in, I requested to have my dog spayed, microchipped, and her puppy teeth pulled out while she was down. I got a call exactly 3 hours after drop-off that my dog was ready to be picked up. I thought.. “weird: that was quick. It takes longer to get her groomed than to have surgery?!?” When I arrived at the clinic, they proceed me to “check out” aka pay for everything before letting me see my dog. Once I had fully paid for them services, they went back and gave me my dog. The poor thing was shaking and drooling non-stop. I hugged my dog and took her home. Only when I was home I had the chance to look at her. She was drooling so much I thought she was going to choke at on her own saliva. Her teeth have NOT being pulled out as requested. And her incision was all bloody and dirty — see photos. They literally rushed her out without cleaning her or waiting for her to fully awake up from anesthesia before giving her to me. I called the clinic and asked about all those things. I was told the drooling would stop on it’s own within a few hours, the doctor forgot to pull her teeth, and no real explanation was giving for her bloody incision. They concentrated on saying the doctor would assess her teeth on the suture removal appointment. I told her “yes, but now in order to pull her teeth, she would have be to put down again”.. her reply was: “that is correct”. No apologies or nothing. The doctor never called me to check on my dog after the surgery either. This place will never see us again. Ever. Thankfully I already doing another vet to remove my dog’s sutures and be her veterinarian provider from here on.

If I could give zero ratings I would. They want to charge me $15 every time I need a refill for my puppy food if I don't buy it off their pharmacy. In other words, they control where you buy the food from. I have never heard about that before.

Very unhappy with the service. Doc was good with my last dog and sent her to Purdue but he tries to move you along and doesn’t let you ask many questions. They should check your dog in the room with you not in the back room. I tried to order meds online and he tried to charge me a fee for the prescription. I paid him enough for the office visit. Time to move on.

We’ve been going to Dr. McPheron since 2007. We rescued a mastiff and a Portuguese Water Dog and Dr. McPheron has been tge best vet we ever had. He truly loves animals...it’s not just a job. The compassion and experience he shows is priceless.

The wait to get in due to COVID is a pain but the staff makes up for it. The doctor is good. They get you in on short notice at times when your pet is in an emergency situation, which is rare. Their follow-up is outstanding.
