I’ve been taking our dog and 2 cats to Tender Care since moving to the area and love it! Everyone there is attentive, patient, professional, and kind! Hands down the best vet in the area.

Wonderful experience so far even with COVID changes. Adopted two kittens and Tender Care’s staff took great care of them during their spay and neuter. Top notch professional service with great care instructions. The kitties are doing great and we will be sure to continue coming in the future. Recommend for anyone in the Coralville area.

We have been coming here for almost 2 years now after we adopted Zoe. She certainly isn’t the easiest or most compliant patient, but all the staff are always very professional and do what they can to accommodate her anxious tendencies! We will be moving out of state soon and I am sad to have to find a new vet cause this one is awesome!

Our new puppies always seem to be getting into some sort of trouble and Dr. Sabourin helps them perfectly every time. I always leave feeling very confident that my puppies will be alright.

We recently moved to Iowa City from Los Angeles. Our cat, who has had a myriad of complex medical issues, was brought here for a checkup and teeth cleaning. Our deeply trusted internal med veterinarian in Los Angeles had advised us against a specific vaccine for our (indoor only) cat given his medical history. (I am generally very pro-vaccines, but bc that vaccine can adversely effect an animal’s health, we had chosen not to vaccinate our cat who has a complex medical history bc he literally never goes outside except in a carrier.) Dr. Cheryl Zimmerman at Tender Care disagreed with this choice & I agreed to consider it after we checked his blood levels. Then, we brought our cat in for a teeth cleaning and he was vaccinated without my consent while under their care. If he was a human, this would constitute malpractice. I highly doubt anyone at the practice took time to read through our cat’s complete medical history before making this choice, but even if they had, it was an unethical choice to administer it without my agreement. Needless to say, we won’t be using this practice again.

Dr. Cheryl takes excellent care of the cats, including Larry - the difficult patient.

Very good care with Dr. Cheryl Zimmerman. My dog's needs are always met. Staff is friendly at the front desk. They do not bill, so you have to pay at the time the service is rendered. My dog had his baby canines growing with his adult canines and they never fell out. Dr. Cheryl recommended removing the baby canines to prevent infection and pain. The dental surgery staff is there every day (or so I was told). My dog recovered very well from the surgery without any complications. If your animal receives any treatment, surgery, vaccines, etc., you'll be sure to get a follow-up phone call from staff ensuring your pet is doing well. My dog recently got his yearly vaccines and was having some pain from a blood draw (most likely due to him squirming), and I was concerned when he would yelp randomly when I picked him up. Granted my dog is 7lbs, but I was still worried. I was able to get into the vet that same day of the phone call and was prescribed animal NSAIDS for pain and had my dog re-evaluated by Dr. Cheryl without an extra charge besides for the medication. My dog recovered well. My one issue I did experience was when I got the vaccines, they told me they were going to take my dog into the back (out of the exam room) for a quick blood draw for heart worm and leptospirosis. I noted the vaccines in the exam room and expected them to come back to the room to do the vaccines. In turn, they did the vaccine injections and the blood draw in the back room without me knowing. I am very protective of my animals and would have liked to have the vaccines administered in front of me while I held my dog because when I returned the next day for the pain medications, my dog peed when they took him to exam him. He does not have accidents and it was strictly out of fear. I wish he hadn't been traumatized and that I could have been there to hold him during the vaccines. If this happens to you, I'm sure they would be happy to administer the vaccines or injections of any kind in the exam room with you present. I will just be aware of this next time.

We've been going here for a long time and our dogs really like the staff.

Took my baby here and the service was excellant. We had to do curbside service and even with my tempermental dog they handled him very very well. The service was quick and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone who has fur babies. Very pleased with the overall experience and the follow up call the next day to check on the pet. If I was not traveling for work I would make this my primary spot to maintain my pets health.

We recently moved to the Iowa City area and I brought along my senior cat. We ended up adopting a 5 year old Yorkie who as far as we had known had never been to a vet. She was in desperate need of dental surgery (as her baby teeth had never fallen out) they was causing all of her teeth to rot. Tender Care was able to get us in as a new patient the same week we called. Most other vets in the area were scheduled 3 weeks or more out. Our dog and cat have both been in several times due to their on going health conditions. Both Dr. Zimmerman and Dr. Sabourin are amazing. They always answer all of our questions (and we have lots) and will take the time to speak to us on the phone without trying to rush us. The rest of the staff is also extremely friendly and I'm so glad that we were able to find such a quality vet practice to take our animals to. Their price is also fairly reasonable. Thank you Tender Care for being so great!

I’ve been going here for about 3 years now and I refuse to go anywhere else. The vets are absolutely amazing and put a lot of time into making sure your animals are well taken care of and for a reasonable price!

I take all my animals here. Never had any trouble with them and they're always nice, helpful and make sure I understand everything they tell me. My animals are never really afraid to go here. 2 dogs, 3 cats and a chinchilla.

The absolute best vet I've ever been to. We love the entire staff. The pricing is fair, they're always so attentive and gentle, they're the best.

My kitty burnt his paw and my regular vet could not see him today. The doctor here squeezed us in and he was able to be seen! The doctor was very kind, and was so sweet to my cat; so was the rest of the staff. I will definitely be coming back. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you so much guys!!

Very caring staff but the prices are outrageous

Moved to Iowa City last year and had to find a new Veterinarian for my two cats, and am a thrilled to have found Tender Care. I feel like my animals are really cared about and it is very affordable. Staff is friendly and the faculty is nice and clean. Highly recommended.

Really liked the vet. She was very knowledgeable and had a genuine care for my dog. She also follows up with a phone call the next day after visits to check your pet. Highly recommend.
