Whether you’re looking for a new vet to go to or unsure if who to trust, this is the place to go. I had a golden retriever who lived to be 17 years old and I strongly believe it was thanks to Dr. Jewell’s outstanding care. He goes above and beyond for all his patients and you can ensure your pet will be well taken care of. The staff is amazing and so caring. I recently got a new puppy and I without a doubt will be bringing her here for all her veterinary needs.

Loved this fairly new veterinarian clinic. The staff are very very friendly and so is the doctor. Loved the office decor. Very new place, with street parking that opens up quite quickly. There is also validated parking in the nearby whole foods parking lot that you can use. Also in the area is a new dog shampoo spa. Great location and serves the nearby communities.

This is a wonderful place for humans who love their fur family. The folks at Pershing outweigh all the rest. I believe Dr. Jewell & his staff at Pershing Animal have the best vet crew Chicago has to offer!!! Because you love your fur fam and Pershing Animal Hospital is good for everyone, go ahead and make that appointment!

I highly recommend this vet experience. The staff is courteous, efficient and professional. They are also warm, understanding and responsive to pets and their people.

This place is always clean, and vets very nice....been here twice..my ONLY complaint is that the time they have your pet is EXTREMELY long. This visit 4 1/2 hours, the other time 8 hours. Thats something that needs to be looked into.

Dr. Jewell and his staff are fantastic. They treat my kittens Mimi and Frankie is though they were their very own, even though Mimi's a little sassy and not quite as warm and friendly to them. :-) I'm a bit extra when it comes to my little ones and the entire staff is patient, kind, and expertly responsive to my numerous questions. I'm so glad Dr. Jewell (and his staff) is my neighborhood vet.

We brought our Rottweiler Archie to Dr. Jewel when he was on the North side. His caring professional manor was wonderful. His expertise is incredible second only to his love of animals. He diagnosed and treated our Archie for several Rottweiler issues. We thank for getting Archie to the ripe old age of fourteen. His staff is great and they really care for you and your pets. Dr. Jewel is so great with my dog Wonton! He helped us navigate through a painful pancreatitis incident, and also performed the spay surgery for her, leaving a very minimal scar. I moved out of the neighborhood already, otherwise would totally come back!

Pershing Animal Hospital is absolutely amazing. The kindest, friendliest staff who take such good care of your pet. I moved to Pershing after some poor experiences with other vets in the area and a friend recommended them. I'm never looking back! The attention to detail is amazing and the doctors are so absolutely kind. The best part was bringing in one of my cats for an expensive dental surgery, which was not nearly as expensive as they predicted because they found they didn't need to pull some of his teeth after all. They could have pulled them and charged me and been done with it, but they seem to really do what is best for the animal. So thankful for this team!

If you care about your animals health I highly suggest you look elsewhere. I say this as a pet owner that was a victim of Dr.Jewels severe negligence. If you love your pets there are other vet options in Hyde park and the surrounding areas. My pet had been showing some concerning symptoms since June. His bowel movements were inconsistent, he was vomiting very stinky bile, and he was not growing at a healthy rate for a standard poodle. Of course I did what any responsible owner would do and took him to his vet Dr.Jewel. He said his vitals looked normal and he was given an anti nausea medication. Rather than listen to my concerns regarding his size (for context he was only 11lb where his litter mates were around 25lb) the doctor told me “well that’s not a standard poodle, you were swindled” I tried to tell him that I have his AKC documentation and his parentage was proven with DNA testing from the breeder but he refused to listen. His condition continued to get worse. He was refusing food and continuing to dry heave and vomit bile. I took him back to Dr.Jewel. They did an X-ray which showed no obstructions. When the doctor came into the room to speak to me he said “it seems like you’re obsessed”, “your generation is too sensitive”, that I needed to “calm down”, and that “you look like you need a hug”. All of this rather than listen to my concern that his vomiting was abnormal and his growth was severely delayed he instead said regarding my concern “well it’s not like you’re going to get rid of him”. So I went for a second opinion and was referred to an internal medicine specialist. As it turns out I’m not “obsessed”. My puppy was diagnosed with a severe liver shunt that was stunting his growth, causing his vomiting, and putting his life at risk. As a result of Dr.Jewels negligence my puppy is no longer with me and he was forced to suffer. A dog that should have been at least 40-50lb by his six month mark only ever made it to 16lb. This was not the result of bad breeding I chose someone who was reputable and well known. This was a bad vet. For the sake of your animals go elsewhere. If you are concerned about their health please seek other options.

We were today for our cats’ annual checkup and vaccines and the experience was excellent. They did not try to upsell us like some of the other vets in the area. The cost was explained to us before they took our cats in, and all the vaccines were the 3 year version. At the end of the visit the vet came to talk to us (the cats are taken to a different room because of social distancing). He was personable and patient, answered all of our questions and didn’t find the need to give us unsolicited advice. All of the staff were extremely professional and helpful. This is definitely the vet we will be taking our cats from now on.

So Glad to have a new animal Hospital in the neighbored. Dr Jewell and his entire staff are wonderful! The team is very professional, impressively caring, knowledgeable and pet & human friendly! The facility is very state of the art and well equipped to offer great care for our feline and canine fur babies!! First team my senior cat didn’t hiss and spit at during the exam and was comfortable enough to take and eat a treat while being examined which she has never done before. Dr Jewel and his team effectively treated my cats acute problem with good short and long term recommendations and treatment plan that helped my senior cat to feel better, and get back to feeling perky, playful, curious and snuggly in no time! Changed price of procedure by $550 last minute and tried not to return deposit. In the end deposit was returned but only after a long back and forth. They were really nice and kind at first, however lack communication skills and ended up doing an extreme price hike from initial stated estimate to the day of. Would not recommend. No longer trusted.

My dog dakota had his first visit and it was awesome. What a great place to go where soon as you walk thru the door the friendliness of the staff and the attention given to him scored big points but even better dr. Jewell took time to discuss my concerns and gave recommendations

I'm so glad we chose this vet! Dr. Jewell is amazing as is the whole staff. Our cat had never been to the vet and was scared, but the staff treated her with so much love! Now a couple visits later she is more comfortable and the vet visits are less traumatic. Can't recommend them enough!

Took my dog here after a horrible experience with Hyde Park Vet. The Dr. was amazing. My dog had a good time surprisingly. The vet even got on the floor and played with my dog!

I am so happy we finally have a new vet in the neighborhood. The staff is extremely nice, friendly and caring. Dr. Jewel is amazing! He will take his time to get to know your pet and to ensure your pet is comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and will make sure to give you all the information you need and to explain everything to you even if it takes a bit longer. I used to be with another vet in Hyde Park but I am so happy with the service I receive here that I changed my vet and I have been raving about them to every other dog owner in Hyde Park I know!

The staff was amazing with my dog. Everyone was so nice and seemed genuinely excited to see him . The doctor had a great bedside manner . He got on the floor with my pup , talked to us extensively about his recommendations and his reasoning behind them and made me and my fiancé chuckle a few times . I’m brining my older dog here next week. I’ve been to animal hospitals in petsmart and other major retailers and felt ripped off and rushed out the door . This place is affordable and worth every penny .

Had a great experience here! Made an appointment for my dog to be seen non emergency but ASAP, as she'd been having some mild digestive issues and I wanted to test for worms. The receptionist was friendly and listened to my concerns when I called, made the earliest possible appointment about a week out for me, and even called me a day later to offer an earlier one based on a cancellation (which I happily took). Check in was smooth, on time, professional, and friendly, and the facilities are beautiful and very clean. The vet tech went over my concerns with me, made my nervous dog feel at ease, and went over an estimated bill before any services rendered without me having to ask, which was all very reasonably priced and well-explained. There was no attempt at an upsell - originally they thought she may need bloodwork based on my initial call, but after examination decided she likely didn't need it, which saved me a good amount of money. The vet gave her thorough exam, and afterwards was friendly and professional, taking the time to go over all my concerns and explain likely benign reasons behind them, which soothed my fears tremendously as a first-time dog owner. I really felt like they cared about my pup and her well being, and took the time needed to make sure she was comfortable, fully checked out, and healthy. Through the grapevine of friends with pets, I've heard similar good stories from others as well for both cats and dogs. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a new vet, and I'm really grateful to have them in Hyde Park!
