Mickey's Pet Salon Chicago, Illinois

Brought my dog in for the first time today and was delighted with our experience. She was given time to look around and feel comfortable in the space before they began working on her which was beneficial to my dog and I appreciated that a lot! Jesus explained everything before and after which made it a helpful learning experience for me. My dog looks gorgeous and healthy and I highly recommend this place.

Mickey is the best! We take our two dogs here and they love him. They always come back fresh, clean and happy. Mickey is helpful in accommodating our schedule, keeps in touch about timing, and has all around made our lives easier (and cleaner) over the years.

We have been taking our yorkie poo to Mickey’s for a few years now. We have always been satisfied with their work. Dino can be a feisty dog, but at Mickey’s they know how to work with him. Looking for quality work and an affordable and friendly place? Check them out, you will not be disappointed!

I have been bringing my ShihTzu here for the past two years. Jesus and the other staff at Mickey’s Pet Salon are always pleasant and professional. My dog genuinely recognizes the business when we get to the door and always seems happy to go inside. I can tell he is treated well while in their care and his cuts/grooming always look spectacular. They always do exactly the style I ask for. They also are the best price I have found in the area. I have been extremely pleased with their service and Benny ALWAYS gets complimented for how well groomed he is!

Chompers got his Lion cut. Excellent service and five stars from both owner and happy pet.

If giving zero stars was an option I would they lost my dog. He was found a few hours after but they let him run out the back door with no tags on. Take your dog elsewhere if you want them home safe.

Very bad service. Before leaving, I informed the groomer that my dog has a few skin warts on his back that are harmless and benign. When I came in to pick up my dog, I noticed right away the groomer had cut one of the large skin warts in half. The cut was deep because there was dry blood around it and another one under his face. My dog was in a lot of pain because he wouldn’t let me near the wounds. I confronted the groomer and told him that they had cut my dog and his response was “no I didn’t cut him, it was the brush when i washed him”. And that was the only thing he said and had no remorse for what he did to my poor dog. The guy was very unapologetic and didn’t offer any sort of sympathy. So, from my experience DO NOT GO HERE. The groomer is careless and the owner, this is a place of business only and nothing more.

It is not a very sanitary environment with all those Chicago street rats ????

Patience and care for your dog. He did a great job with my dog and was done in two in hours.

Update -- I stopped going to this groomer after I picked up my dog one day and found that they had cut one of her moles pretty badly, and did not tell me about it. I didn't notice until I got home. She rubbed against something and the wound started bleeding again. It looked as though they had put that stuff on it to stop the bleeding, initially, but it was very obvious that the wound wasn't healed. The wound never healed, it kept reopening and bleeding, and I eventually had to have the mole surgically removed. I understand that accidents happen, and this mole did stick out and was more vulnerable to being cut than normal skin. If they had told me about it when I picked her up, I would have accepted this as an innocent mistake, and just been more careful to tell them about her moles in the future. But they didn't tell me, and I had to deal with the panic of finding blood all over her neck for no apparent reason. I did know the mole was there, but it had never been a problem before, so I didn't immediately think of that when I saw all the blood. She also had razor burn after the same haircut, and she was very uncomfortable for the next several days. It seemed like they had someone new (with no experience) doing the grooming that time, without any notice. I did have two years of mostly positive experiences, so I'm going to leave the rating at 3 stars, but I will never bring my dog back there again. ---- Original review: They've always done a good job on my dog. The haircuts are usually excellent.. maybe twice in the past 2 years I was less satisfied with the haircut (once it was a bit choppy, and another time they shaved more off the top of her head than I wanted), but my dog comes home happy, and that is the most important part for me. She's not upset, she's not uncomfortable, and she's not in pain. I'm not afraid to leave my dog with them.
