JLD never disappoints. The dog food I buy is not common and they carry. If needed JLD will place a special order for me and my fluff companion. Great staff, friendly, fun, knowledgeable plus the fabulous hours and delivery option - what is not to love??!!

Had an excellent experience with my pup’s first groom! The cut looks fantastic, everyone in the shop was kind, and most importantly my dog left a happy camper despite it being his first real groom. Well worth it; we will definitely be back :)

Laura is the best groomer in town.

Was literally harassed by all four workers for my mask not covering my nose. I informed them that I have been fully vaccinated for months and offered to show my vaccination card. “It’s store policy.” At this point in the pandemic the ‘store policy’ is simply not following science, and silly. If the issue is whether or not people are lying, check vaccine cards! I had two arms full of items and was about to **spend my money on your small business** but never again. Time to revisit your policies and get back to customer service, not customer harassment.

This a GREAT STORE! They stock THE BEST selection of cat & dog foods & treatos for each. Also leashes & collars which they will gladly help you find the correct size. Also do TERRIFIC grooming and nail clipping. Atmosphere is cool and laid back even for the most difficult pet.

Easter Sunday 2021, I stopped by after a morning walk to get 2 cans of dog food. Before entering I saw that they have a Wear a mask sign, which I had mine on before entering. I asked if I could pay with Apple Pay and the manager behind the counter said yes. I grabbed the 2 cans of food and proceeded to the register. The store had 3 people behind the register and about 5-7 clients in the store. I tapped the CC processor and my iPhone prompt me to do a face recognition to which I pulled my mask down for 2-3 seconds and pulled it back on. As I was raising my head to face the manager who was ringing me up, he said “you need to wear your mask at all times and if you have a problem, you can step outside”. I was taken by surprise not because I’m not aware that there’s a pandemic but at his delivery to ask me to wear my mask or threatened me to step outside. I proceeded to tell him that my iPhone was prompting me for face recognition to pay to which he responded in a very condescending manner, “you know you could had bypass that feature”, again was this really the appropriate way to talk to a customer of many years? I was shocked and embarrassed because the whole store was looking at me like I had committed a crime. I was so flabbergasted, embarrassed and very upset by the managers delivery that I wanted to get out as fast as possible, I paid and left wondering did that really happened? I walked a block to my home and I was very upset. I called the store and the same manager answered and I explained to him that I was aware of the pandemic and that his delivery was not the most appropriate because he had embarrassed me in front of clients and treated me like a delinquent. I even told him that I had Covid back in November( I am am essential worker) and therefore took the wearing of the mask very serious. Again his response was so unapologetic and condescending, “wear your mask”. I immediately emailed the owner like 5 times and I’ve yet to hear from “Wayne” the owner since Easter Sunday. I must say Sara the other manager did respond to my email but the story based on her email was that I had refused to wear my mask which that was never ever the case. Worst Experience Ever! Update: It’s been 10 days since I reached out to the owner of this local business and I’ve yet to hear from “Wayne”. I hope it’s not because of my Latin name, I know how to speak and write English. If this is how you conduct business then shame on you and thanks to the Chicago Reader for recommending Urban Pooch as the Best Pet Store, but I’ll stick to my other neighborhood Pet Store, Bark Bark Club. I supported your business since day one and you don’t even have the decency nor common courtesy to return my call nor emails. It’s very clear to me now why your management staff treated me the way they did, your example is exceptional, NOT!

When I was a first time dog-dad, the staff were super helpful to me in teaching me what kinds of food my dog should eat and potential allergies. And recommended products that weren’t just the most expensive. I love supporting local and they have my business 100%.

Best groomer on the North Side. Laura is a consummate professional who goes out of her way to find you an appointment time. My entire family brings our dogs to Laura and JLD. You cannot go wrong with Laura and Brandon at Jameson Loves Danger.

Small but good selection of natural dog and cat food and treats. Me and my puppy pop-in while walking to Andersonville. He gets lots of love from the employees and a treat.

We love this cute little store! We got our pup 6 years ago and have been shopping here ever since. We buy our food, toys, collars and treats here and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. We trust that the folks here are knowledgeable about the products they are bringing into their store and that I'm buying for my family member. The advice that I've gotta here has always been spot on - when it comes to treats for my picky eater and toys too. What a great addition to our neighborhood Jameson has been!

I went in for a nail clipping for my 11yr old cat, they were super quick and handled my baby well.

The most delightful and helpful people AND it's just a great store. I prefer going in just because it's so nice and everyone is lovely, but their home delivery service is incredible. Since Covid, I've used the delivery service two or three times and if you order before 4 or 5pm, you'll get it same day! Yesterday, I placed an online order at 8pm and I had it next day before noon. Incredible. Not to mention, this order, I personally screwed up and ordered the wrong product. I called the store today to ask if they would just swap it out with the product I intended to order (same price/brand), but also would they BRING IT TO ME CURBSIDE out of my abundance of caution... and without batting an eye, they did just that. I was around the corner, parked my car, and within a moment someone was swapping my product AT my car. I love them, I love them, I love them.

So happy to find this neighborhood pet store. Better brands than the big box stores and each person that helped me was so knowledgeable and helpful. Been several times and will definitely go back.

This review is mainly for the grooming service: Have been living in Lakeview for a few years and surprisingly only happened to learn about this place a few days ago (I admit that we have been bringing our dog to a different groomer that we had gone to prior to moving to the area). On a whim I decided to get my beagle an appointment for a wash and nail trim and was encouraged by the reviews. Initially I was hesitant because my senior dog HATES getting her nails trimmed and also in general is just a grumpy old lady. We went in today and I was already apologizing profusely as I dropped her off and I could tell she was already getting antsy as I handed her to Laura, her groomer for today. I mentioned that she was a senior beagle and that she hated having her nails cut and Laura reassured me that all would be fine and that I could come back in an hour. I went home and half expected a call from the store telling me to come back and pick up my dog because of her behavior but nothing but silence!!! An hour later I get back and my little lady was finishing up and she was a lot calmer than I had left her!! In fact when I spoke to Laura she was able to not only get her washed no problem, she was able to get Bailey’s nails trimmed!! Such a pleasant surprise and I am so impressed! Ended up getting a collar and treats to celebrate finding another local business we could support! Laura is a godsend, and we will definitely be back!!
