We love this place. After having negative experiences at other vets, we are so happy with Higgins. They have the nicest and welcoming staff. They’re so patient and sweet to our pup. When you make an appointment, you wait no more than 5 min to be seen.

Dr. Damiana is THE BEST. This woman is so knowledgeable and so caring. I brought both of my cats here religiously and would still be doing so if I hadn't moved across the country. Costs are provided up front so you know exactly what to expect and can choose what makes the most sense for you and your pet. The front staff were always kind and organized and like I said before, Dr. Damiana is truly a pet hero. If you can go to anybody, go to her.

We have been going to Higgins for 12 years. When our beloved Randi passed away and an we rescued Tully, I didn't even consider another vet. Simply the best!

I really appreciate the knowledgeable and proactive front desk staff at Higgins Animal Clinic. They do a great job of making sure that all the necessary things are done efficiently without extra visits. It's rare these days to find an in-person or telephone experience I don't wish could be replaced with an online button but the women staffing the front desk and phones have been lifesavers. My pandemic puppy and I are lucky to have them!

Fantastic vets and techs! So caring and helpful. Really excellent and go above and beyond to love and treat animals as if they were their own pets.

The staff is very nice, helpful and comforting. They took care of my loved one from a baby till it was time to say goodbye. I have had a good relationship with staff for the last 12 yrs. Thank you for all your help. When I'm ready to another pet I will continue to bring that pet to Higgins.

Started going to Higgins after my newly adopted dog tested positive for heartworms. They were super sweet to my dog, Bruce, and got him and myself through the whole thing. Whenever I had questions or concerns, they would very nicely talk me through the process. I have now had Bruce for nearly 4 years (about 3 years heartworm free!). Even though we moved across the city, I still bring him here for his visits. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve been coming to Higgins since I started fostering (and eventually adopting) with One Tail. They are so kind, caring and informative. My pup is not exciting about vet visits but they know how to make him feel comfortable. I highly recommend the vets and staff at Higgins!

I switched my diabetic cat over to Higgins from my prior vet office of several years - and let me tell you, what a difference it is! I very rarely post reviews, but I had to with this clinic because of how wonderful they have been. Compared to my old vet (which didn't seem to know much about feline diabetes and was actually telling me contrary information as my cat's diagnosis seemed to be getting worse), this practice is SO much more knowledgeable (shout out to Dr. Damiana!), more efficient, more helpful and accommodating - everything! The doctor was incredibly responsive and took her time to explain the medical information to me as well as my options moving forward. She actually listened to my questions and concerns, which I hugely appreciate, and I didn't feel rushed whatsoever (big difference compared to the last vet!). The staff is also very knowledgable and so personable and nice. My kitty actually ended up peeing in his carrier while he was there, and they washed and dried the entire carrier (including the inside mat)! That is above and beyond care. I'm so happy to have found this place!

First of all, they treat hedgehogs! I'm grateful for them because my little Hazel the Hedgehog needed surgery and they performed it. They're a little pricey, but, aren't they all... I'm happy with them and will go back! Highly recommend.

Took my difficult pup here to get groomed by Felipe and was so impressed! My dog is very nervous and tends to snap when getting groomed but Felipe was able to give her a beautiful cut in an hour. Highly recommend!!

First of all, for everyone saying that they overcharge, nickel and dime, etc, this is absolutely accurate. I'm attaching my receipt for you to make your own opinion. When we dropped off our dog, we were told the cost would be roughly 200 dollars. We then received a call saying she required additional services (without being told price). We told them that we approved of what they recommended, and then were given a $591 bill after the visit. It is my fault for not asking the cost of the procedures they mentioned on the phone, but I would have thought that if they are going to triple the bill that they would disclose that information to me. Second of all, I had a discussion with the vet about giving her a 3 year rabies vaccination. They said they would move forward with the 3 year vaccination, however after picking her up, they provided me with a 1 year vaccination tag and had only charged me for 1 year. When I called them to clarify, they told me that they made a mistake on the tag and billing, but promised me that they actually gave her the 3 year vaccine. At this point, I'm trusting that they are telling me the truth, but it's very concerning and I am not confident in their ability to keep records. They ended up creating a second bill to charge me for the difference in the vaccine. Most recently, I was told by our daycare that her canine cough was expired. After looking at my receipt, I noticed that they had charged me for the vaccine a month ago (the last time I brought her in). I called into Higgins and they initially told me that she had not received her vaccine and was due. After I informed them that I had already been charged, they once again promised me that they had made a mistake in their system, and that actually HAD received the vaccine that I had been charged for. Once again, I guess I have no choice but to trust that they are being truthful and accurate, because it seems like they are unable to keep track of what shots the pets are receiving. It's concerning not being sure if my dog has received the appropriate shots and vaccines. I am not very familiar with the rate of vet services in the city. However, because I felt like I was being overcharged and under-informed, I compared my receipt to other sources online. I’m including a breakdown of costs paid vs costs I’ve seen in the source listed. Average cost of H3N2: $20-30 (Pet RX) Higgins Cost: $41 Average cost of Canine Cough: $10-20 (Pet RX) Higgins Cost: $29.50 Eye cleaning (which we did twice a day on our own afterwards): $27 Average cost of Heartworm test: $45-50 (PetRX) Higgins cost: $78 Clavomax Tablets 375mg: $77(WalmartPet) Higgins Cost $118.25 Neo Poly Dex solution: $16 (Chewy) Higgins Cost: $52 Benzoyl Peroxide Gel 5%: $13 (WalmartPet) Higgins Cost: $20.63 Update: I received a call from Adele, the Program Manager who has been with Higgins for 27 years. She apologized for the experience we have had and extended an offer for a credit to Higgins. She also explained that the person who entered and tracked these records is a new employee who is still learning the process. She said that they will be having a team meeting to discuss standard practices. I appreciate the call and want to be clear that I have not had any veterinary malpractice issues with Higgins. The vet we have worked with (Dr. McReynolds) is very bright and more than capable of caring for our dog. My concerns are strictly around the business side, and this is why we are moving to another vet.

In these weird times of COVID, Higgins has figured it out! They took my pup in right at his appt time as I waited outside, which was weird at first, but Dr. Damiana gave me a call and chatted with me on the phone after her exam for about 15 minutes. She took the time to answer all of my question sand even give me advice as a first time pet owner. My pup got the flu vaccine, and came out as if nothing had happened! I highly recommend this group as they're professional and friendly with good customer service!

They offer a New Client Complimentary visit but absolutely WILL get their money's worth out of you by insisting on other services. They took my cat into a different room to draw blood in order to determine if he could survive anaesthesia for surgery. They then returned with him saying they had pulled a tooth. It just fell right out in the back room but yet they never showed me the tooth nor was I able to see an empty socket. They wouldn't give me the results of the blood panel unless I scheduled an exploratory surgery on my cat's teeth, but the whole point was to determine whether the cat could tolerate surgery. If you take your pet here and feel rushed, dismissed, or patronized by staff...walk the eff out. Get a second opinion. If they're treating humans like this, how much care and attention do you think your animals are really getting? As a pet owner that cares deeply for their critter, you deserve to be heard and respected when making decisions for your animal's health.

We couldn’t be happier to have found Higgins Animal Clinic for our one year old pup who we love beyond words can say. Everyone who we’ve come into contact or spoken with at their office has been professional and knowledgeable in their respective roles. And it’s so easy to tell they really care very much about their furry patients. We tried a couple other vets offices prior to finding out about Higgins, but the third time is clearly the charm!

We are first time puppy parents and went to Higgins Animal Clinic for the spay of our dog Piper. They have been absolutely amazing. They have been so responsive to all our questions. I think we’ve called around 5 times since bringing her home as we didn’t know what to expect with her behavior and pain levels. They helped tremendously and really care about the comfort of your animal and their well being. I already have and will continue to recommend Higgins Animal Clinic. Thank you for caring so much for our fur baby!!!

Do NOT go here if you are looking for a good exotic vet. DVM Robert saw my bunny Honey for a wellness appointment after I rescued her from a kill shelter. He over charged for the appointment, almost 1/5th higher than what other exotic vets charge in the area, spent less than 5 minutes examining her, and then tried to up charge for services. He also could not tell the difference between a spayed rabbit and one that is not but was all too eager to offer his services to spay at a price 10x more expensive than when I had my first rabbit neutered. When I inquired more into whether Honey was spayed or not he got defensive and said no other vet would be able to discern either, however, it took the same amount of time for another vet to find the surgical scar and they didn’t try to gauge me. The purpose of visiting a vet is for their trust and opinion, none of which DMV Roberts is able to provide. When I asked for a second opinion he refused to recommend another colleague but said he would see Honey again “although his professional opinion would not change.”
