April at the Ritz Chicago, Illinois

Against my better judgement, we dropped both of our Cavapoos off at 9:30am to be groomed. A friend of ours told us about a bad experience that they had at this salon, but we are new to the area and wanted to have our dogs groomed before thanksgiving. When we dropped the dogs off, they told us to expect the grooming to be done in 3.5 or 4 hours so we called at 1:30 for an update, and were obviously very upset to hear that they hadn't even started grooming either of our dogs yet. Going to a groomer is typically not an activity that most dogs enjoy, including my own. I would have much rather had someone call me to tell me that they overbooked for the day, mistakes happen & that is not the problem I have with this situation. The problem is that my dogs just sat in a room, full of other dogs, anxious and afraid for hours when they could have been at home. So now we have 2 un-groomed dogs that smell like cigarettes and will need to go through another stressful day of going to another groomer. We will not be returning. I wish this was a one time mistake, but based off of what other dog owners in the area have shared with us, it is a normal occurrence at this location. The groomer was very apologetic when we picked the dogs up and it wasn't her fault that the owners overbooked her for the day. But I absolutely would urge you to reconsider booking at this location.

April is wonderful groomer and I don’t and also my dog doesn’t like anyone else.????????

I have been bringing my dogs to April at the Ritz for over 4 years now and will never go elsewhere! April is compassionate, talented, trust worthy, and treats all dogs like their her own! My dogs are my children; the ladies here do the best job in the city and have earned my trust!

April is a great groomer. You can tell she really cares about the animals. Her rates are great too!

My husky Noor, and I are huge fans of April! Her and her daughter are so genuine, and gentle with my dramatic dog. I'm so glad I've found them, and would recommend them to anyone!

I've been bringing my dog here for the past 2 years and won't trust anyone else! April can trim nails and perfectly groom any pet!

HORRIBLE GROOMING!!! April completely butchered my dog and he looks awful!! I asked her to leave the head and teddy bear the body and she did the total opposite. She told me to come back an hour and a half later and when I did, she cut his entire head unevenly and left the body untouched. I told her this was unacceptable and she told me to come back one hour later and she cut his body all uneven and didn’t even take off his harness so the parts around there are still long! It was the worst grooming experience ever and I would avoid like the plague.

George loves coming to April! And April is wonderful with George!! It means a lot when the dogs are begging to go to the groomers.

Love this place! I brought my dog, Max, here today, and he looks great. The service was fantastic, and Max was super happy to be here. It's not often a dog actually enjoys getting a bath. April is great with them and has them all wiggling and wagging their tale! Highly recommend this place!

I've tried several groomers in Chicago and April is the best! They are super friendly, and though my pup (80lb Golden Retriever) hates the groomer, she seems calmer and less stressed here than at other places I've taken her! Plus, She always leaves looking great (:

April and her daughter were an absolute pleasure to deal with were extremely helpful with my difficult schedule. They have my business from here on out! Also, everyone keeps commenting how handsome my dog looks!

April is a dream come true- I'm so happy I found her! My dogs hair mats easily and although he is a super friendly and confident dog he is sooo afraid of the groomers and always comes back to me afterwards just so shaken up from it. We recently moved to the area and found April and it was an entirely different experience! I picked up a happy dog who was able to roam around free instead of locked in a crate. It was clear from talking with April that she had really worked at gaining his trust and making him comfortable. I feel so guilty that I was putting him through such bad experiences elsewhere when I thought that was just the norm!! I will never take him anywhere else again - April is the best!!

Had a fantastic experience with April! My bichon mix Spoodle refuses to go to anyone else. She is very professional and kind and will always have us as a client.
