I had a very good experience adopting my cat from here. When I arrived, they verified my information first and then I was able to meet my cat and decide if I would be taking her home. They seemed to know a lot about the dogs and cats in their shelter, which I took as a good sign. They even showed me pictures of my cat playing in an open space at the shelter and gave me information on how to help my cat transition in my home. I read some other reviews on this place indicating they were only in it for the money, but I highly doubt this. It was $180 to adopt my adult cat and she was fully vaccinated and was already previously checked out for health issues. They also gave me a complimentary vet visit coupon for her first visit with me. Cali (short for Calypso) has been so sweet and loving in our home. I'm so happy to have her as part of our family.

I got my new kitty from Kay’s and it was such a great experience. They take day of appointments, which is great if you’re impatient like me (I had emailed multiple shelters and the communication was a little frustrating with the others so this was a welcomed changed). When I got there, I already had which kitten I wanted to see in mind, so it was a fairly quick process. The owners answered all of my questions and clipped her nails for me before we left. Grateful to them for helping me find my new fur baby ❤️

No no no. Do not go here. Do not fund them. It’s a for profit. No dog is ever walked or let out of the cages. Please don’t fund them. Report them. Puppy mill. Bad puppy mill at that. They do the bare minimum to meet the laws. For the love of animals no. And don’t leave a 5 star review because your dog your dog you got there is awesome. Dogs are awesome. That place is not and has nothing to do with how awesome your dog is. Evil is there.

Kay's Animal Shelter is Awesome Yesterday I adopted my most adorable, sweetest, loving Labrador Retriever Mix Puppy. She didn't have a name I named her Sunshine. Kay's Animal Shelter comes highly recommend by me. The staff was Extremely Friendly, and cared so much about all the fur babies that are getting adopted. GOD BLESS ALL THE STAFF & ALL THE LITTLE FUR BABIES. May you find FOREVER Homes.

..its more like a puppy mill that they sell cool mixed breeds (husky-rott mix or shepard-dalmatioon mix stuff like that)and have a couple old mangy ones for show..don't expect to walk out of there w a free puupy unless you have $400-700 in your pocket..I think they may even take orders. ..I didn't see any feliines either.. ..this is no shelter..I live across the street and have never once seen any dogs out for walks..only as of late have they had the gate open for drop in visits..otherwise it's reminded me of a concentration camp..that's a big waste of an intersection there..

Got my first cat from Kay's in 1968 and have kept them in my life ever since then. They've been a wonderful asset to the community for decades. Can't say enough good things about these people and the compassionate work they do, even driving to other states to rescue animals from overcrowded shelters there. We're lucky to have them in Arlington Heights.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kay's. We adopted our sweet pup at 11 weeks from Kay's in March 2019. She is now over a year old, has had a great health record, and been the perfect addition to our family. When we adopted her one, she had three brothers and one sister. We would love to find out how they're doing! We did a Wisdom Panel and though she was described as "brown female, 40-45 lbs" when we adopted her, we discovered she is 25% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% Boxer, and the other half is Chow Chow, Labrador Retriever, and Newfoundland! At a year old, she is now 51 lbs and almost done growing. Thank you, Kay's, for bringing this sweetheart into our lives. It's been hard not to come back at rescue more!

Kay's went the extra mile for me and gave me notification of a border collie mix that had just come to them from another shelter. This dog has been a godsend for my wife and i as we just lost our 2 border collies to old age. Wonderful organization that serves a great service for pets and people.

As eager as we were to adopt, I wish we wouldn't have adopted from Kay's. This was the second time we adopted from them and I thought it was a fluke that my first puppy was sick but this puppy came with several infections (ring worm, skin infection, and uti), and infected our other dog and me too with ringworm. I did not expect adopting from Kay's would cost me over $1000. Don't expect to just pay the a $400 adoption fee as anticipated. Be prepared to tap into your kids college fund when adopting from here. I've fallen in love with both dogs and wouldn't give them up for anything (return policy - forget it! Medical bills are there either way but they will not help with the cost, only take a return. What do they do with the sick animals, if they don't help.with medical expenses? Hmmm think about it.

We adopted our sweet Oliver from this shelter. The staff is helpful. The place is pretty good, considering everything they use is donated. So if you have a chance. Anything donated helps the animals stay clean, fed and warm.

These dogs all look like they are from puppy mills! I have Volunteered at shelters a long time and know the difference and can tell. Please do your research! If you search Kay it will tell you that they get them from puppy mills and mostly only care about The money in it! Maybe not the volunteers but most of the paid employees do and owner and such! Will volunteer at heartland as I did before they genuinely care about animals and have so many different breeds/ages/ sizes. This is not meant because I am an angry customer like most reviews but I genuinely Care about animals and dogs and want to make people aware.

I grew up with a puppy adopted from Kay’s and adopted 2 puppies from them in June 2019. They are the sweetest pups and the adoption process was and simple and quick. I recommend Kay’s to anyone looking for a dog that will quickly become part of their family!

My daughter and I were on our way home one day and I decided to call Kay’s to see if they had any kittens to adopt. They said yes but because of Covid they were by appointment only. I said I was 20 min away if that is okay and they said yes! They had several cats and kittens there. All seemed pretty healthy. We fell in love with our girl Willow. 8 weeks old and so sweet. Apparently she didn’t have a mom and was bottle fed up until the day we got her. We took her to get checked out after we adopted her. they did find that she had Coccidia which is a bacteria that if not treated can cause serious issues. It’s pretty common in puppies and kittens. A $10, 5 days supply of meds and she was perfectly fine. We love our baby kitten and are so thankful for the easy application and adoption process Kay’s has. I would adopt there again For sure! *******update. Willow girl is now 4.5 months old. She is a very calm kitten and very healthy. Our family loves her and couldn’t be happier with her.

They have surprisingly well behaved and absolutely beautiful cats! Very easy adoption process. The owners and workers there are very kind and helpful. It’s very clear they love and care for they’re animals. I recommend going to Kay’s. ????????

They have a lot of young kittens and puppies, however they want a lot of paperwork. The facility is also very poorly ventilated and it smells really bad in there.
