Dundee Animal Hospital - Algonquin Algonquin, Illinois

I have to first say I have great confidence and respect for the veterinarians at Algonquin. They are the best and I can’t say enough about Doctor O’Brien I am really sad this evening as I am no longer comfortable going there. A Front desk worker made me very uncomfortable and I felt interrogated by her. The bases for this is related to not being able to access my 2 year old cat I rescued records related to immunization. Instead of basically being helpful I was interrogated and made to feel neglectful. FYI I have spent 1000 dollar on my cat and have had my dog there also. Please be more helpful to others in the future and assist instead of making a judgement. I hope this is addressed as I see another review 3 weeks ago was related.

There are some good doctors there, but the front staff could really use some customer service skills. I would think they would care about animals but front staff doesn't appear to. Also why does it say you're open untill 7:00 on Wednesday if when someone calls at 5:30 you can't be seen because they're "closing soon". I never actually get to go there anymore, they always refer me to the emergency vet even during normal business hours interesting.

I brought my dog Hazel here for the first time yesterday and they were wonderful! When I called they answered the phone right away and were kind and compassionate and scheduled me the same day. Dr. Kersting was very kind and knowledgeable. I liked the way he talked to me about Hazel's issue - he was not rushed or distracted. I understood her condition when I left and she is already feeling better today. Thank you to Dr. Kersting and the whole team!!!!

The receptionists at the front desk are extremely rude. There is a male doctor here that is amazing and so friendly, but the women receptionist’s should not be working in an animal hospital with their attitudes.

I have four dogs, all of whom are seniors. I've gone to all three locations, and seen many of the veterinarians in this practice. All the vets are extremely well-trained, professional and passionate about their work. I tend to go to the Algonquin office most frequently, and the support staff, including office personnel and technicians are always organized, efficient and do an outstanding job making sure patients and their owners are tended to promptly and carefully. The highest quality medical care I've found for my dogs; very highly recommended!

I was new to the area so I looked for the closest vet to my home and after seeing the reviews thought I found a good place. I was scolded by my Vet for the brand of food I feed my dog and the treats I give him. With attitude she asked me if I am a veterinary nutritionist and if I have schooling because I told her I give my dog vegetables as a treat from time to time. She told me he will die and “probably” has heart disease and she’s 99% sure. She never did any tests and once I left I never wanted to go back.

I was so nervous for my pup to go to the vet without me being able to go inside with her. Their curbside service was flawless! Reception, vet techs and Dr. Moderhack were extremely nice and caring.

When my rescue dog needed immediate dental surgery to take out eight (8!!!) broken and infected teeth, my vet initially said they couldn’t get her in for surgery until a week later. However, she decided to take it upon herself to see if their Elgin location could make room for her the very next day, and sure enough their vets did! Surgery went great and my dog is already a new dog. Ask for either Dr. Kamholz in Algonquin or Dr. Lathrop in Elgin. Both are great at what they do and very dedicated to helping your furry friends!

I can't say good enough about Dr. Rusley and the entire team in the hospital. Every single visit is a stress free experience. They treat all my pets so nice, they don't want to leave the hospital. Dr. Rusley answer every single question patiently . (and I am asking a lot!) If you are looking for a vet - honestly....don't look further. I went thru several animal hospitals in the area and this one is the best I ever experienced. They are very knowledgeable, and honest. It will save you lots of money and time. They are taking their job seriously and you can tell they love what they do! Thank You Dr. Rusley!

The veterinarians are outstanding!!! They would explain well and comes up the plans of the options of treatment and discus with their clients. Very skilled and of course very knowledgeable! The staff are friendly. The facility is clean and well maintained. I highly recommend!!!

Just had to put our dog down the other day. The entire staff was very sympathetic and we just received a personalized sympathy card from the doctor. They made a very hard day a bit easier. Definitely recommend this practice!

We switched to Dundee Animal Hospital because we wanted a vet that was able to take care of our dog without having to use a different facility for anything complex. DAH has multiple vets who can take care of our dog in house. Nice folks with average pricing.

Great staff, always nice. The vet really takes time to get to the bottom of things and even showed me pictures of my dog's possible condition. I love the fact the he does not rush through the visit.

They take care of our Labrador with attention and love. Very knowledgeable staff and clean well maintained facility. Extra kudos for Jack; he is exceptional at what he does.

They may be a little more expensive than some other animal hospitals/ vets in area, but worth it for knowledge of Doctors (especially Dr. Marras (spelling?). She won't run up bill on unnecessary tests and such. She is open, honest and great to deal with!

They are very caring and considerate.

We have been taking our pets to the Algonquin and Dundee locations for almost 15 years. The staff are always friendly and go above and beyond for us! Dr. O'Brien is our favorite vet. She is the cat charmer!

My friend with a pup close in age to ours recommended this place HIGHLY. After going to Animal Care Clinic for a while (which I truly had a great experience at) our sweet girl Caribou just had too persistent of digestion issues. We had gotten stool samples, anti-diarrhea meds, and special diets from our old vet but no improvement. I decided to give Dundee Animal Hospital a try because my friend said they were great about individual attention and they were extremely caring and good at following up. They impressed me from the first visit and haven't stopped impressing me. Dr. Kelly Cavanough was amazing with my dog and me right from the start. She gave her a very thorough exam, had read through her previous history enough to know how many days she was on her previous meds (WOW) and was so patient with all my questions. We did another stool test and began treatment right away. I got $40 off with their online coupon for being a new customer, and my friend got $20 to her account for recommending me (bonus!!). The prices are definitely higher than Animal Care Clinic, but you truly get what you pay for. It is a totally different experience. It turns out Caribou had a parasite and so we picked up some more meds. I received a very kind follow up call from Dr. Cavanough to make sure I understood the new meds and to see how she was doing. Everything about this place is fantastic. It's clean, smells nice, free dog bandanas, the reception staff are all so professional and nice, and the vets are clearly top notch. I can't say enough good things about Dundee Animal Hospital. Thank you for really looking out for our furry friends!

Great Vets. Compassionate care. Price can be high but well worth it for your animals health.

We had to put our dog down recently. The entire staff was very professional and understanding. There was no waiting in the lobby. All the paperwork work was done ahead of time so we wouldn't have to wait in the lobby after the procedure. The vet explained everything, answered questions and did not rush the process or rush us out. It's a hard choice but this facility made it go as smooth as possible. Kind staff, great vet who took time to explain things to me and settle my worries. Took me in right away despite there having been a mix-up with appointment dates. Also take in college vet-tech students for on-the-job learning. Great place, good prices.
