took our golden retriever two doctor toby Tobias for treatment he stated that he would not operate because he does not like to lose battles in surgery took our dog there on August 25th and have not heard any response from him nor his staff. $1600.00 no word on his diagnosis nor his assessment what a POS Toby Tobias Mr compassionate is. Their boarding facility is great and they took my little COVID puppy on short notice. According to the staff members I talked to it sounded like she had a good time and they made sure she was taken care of. The prices for boarding are also reasonable compared to other facilities (even in Boise and with the late checkout fee)! Thank you for taking care of my fur baby!!

Where do I begin? My girlfriend and I live in Boise and needed immediate care for our older Pyrenees and they were able to fit us in within two days for surgery with Dr. Tobias. Dr. Tobias, Sue, and every other member of the SVAC that we talked to and worked with from start to finish have all made the process immensely easier, as well as an overall incredible experience. They took such great care of our sweet boy and I have no doubt that they will do the same for any family and animal that comes through their doors. This place cares about you, your animal, and they make that crystal clear from the beginning. And what to say about Dr. Tobias? He is truly an incredible Doctor, but even more so of a wonderful, empathetic human. He called us personally every day to update us and check in on how we were doing. I have no doubt that the other veterinarians and their staff all approach their work with patients in this same way. THANK YOU, Dr. Tobias and SVAC!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Acker and his staff. They answered all of our questions and alleviated many of our fears regarding our 1 year old labs hip replacement surgery. They give you pamphlets, and a little booklet of information personalized to your dog and the Dr himself is the one who brings your dog to you after surgery. I would recommend them to anyone and we will be back for our dogs other hip.

My 10 year old 75 lb pound boy is now 12 weeks post op double TPLO surgery with Dr. Maggie Acker. All the staff members were very kind, patient and knowledgeable. We live 3 hours away and they made check-up calls through recovery, Maggie herself was also very easy to get ahold of if needed. I was so nervous about it but it has already been 100% worth it; my dog is happier, healthy and doing wonderfully. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

I am incredibly humbled and forever grateful for Dr. Acker and all the incredible staff at Sun Valley Animal Center. They showed a level of care for both my wife and my dog that I will never forget. We boarded our dog here while staying in Sun Valley and had a great experience. The staff was responsive and friendly. Our dog can be sensitive and was happy and at ease during her stay.

I'd like to thank Dr. Maggie Acker-Buck for the wonderful TPLO x2 they did on my Akita. I was recommended to this vet for this surgery and I'm glad I went the extra mile(s! ) to come here. I was completely shocked to watch my dog walk out of that clinic better than she walked in! Everything was done same day, and I took her home that evening. Her recovery has been great, her sutures and pain management meds were spot on, everything was very professional and I feel every dollar I spent was worth it. Thank you for giving Tanzi a new lease on life.

Dr Randy Acker performed surgery on my dogs knee. We heard he is the best and after our experience with them today we agree. The staff was thorough and personal, with detailed instructions on what to expect post operatively. They also have a pain regimen to keep our dog with little pain for days after surgery. Dr Acker came out and explained things to us himself and seemed knowledgeable and experienced. We are really impressed with how comprehensive they were. Thank you so much!

Dr Acker performed surgery to correct my minie Aussie back in September. I have failed to tell hime what a wonderful job he did. It took her a little longer and I was over walking her to soon . Dr. Maggie Akers is one heck of a vet and the whole team there at Sun Valley was very kind, courteous, and helpful for my dogs tpo surgery and tooth extraction. Even though they were super swamped with people they got my dog out 2 hours earlier than was expected and kept me updated on my dogs situation throughoutthe surgery. I drove from Boise up here and am nothing but impressed by these guys/gals. Thank you guys so much for taking care of my doggo.

Dr. Randy Acker fixed my ten year old dog’s torn CCL in January and did a fabulous job. I drove up from the Treasure Valley that morning and was able to take her home that afternoon. Her recovery was smooth with someone calling at intervals to check up on us. I was afraid to put an older dog through such a major surgery but dogs are resilient and four months later her leg is stable and I have no regrets. Thank you!

We drove 6 hours each way and took 2 days off of work to have Dr. Randy Acker perform our 6 year old golden retrievers total hip replacement. This was the best decision we have ever made! The staff was amazing and personable. They actually seem to care about my dog and want a better life for him which can be hard to find, especially in an out of town vet. Dr. Acker sat down with me before and explained everything, they took amazing care of him and did a great job! They were upfront about the cost and there were no hidden charges whatsoever. Not to mention as someone who has called around in many states, he is the cheapest for this procedure, possibly in the entire country. Some people might think that is not always a good thing and I agree BUT when you combine that with that fact that he does over 60 of these surgeries a year and has been perfecting them since 1991 he could easily charge more and doesn't. My dog walked out of there the next day on his new hip and now 4 days later is doing better then I could've EVER imagined!

Last year my wife and I drove 5 hours to meet with Dr Acker and get a total hip replacement for my 4 year dog. The procedure was a complete success and drastically improved my dogs quality of life. He was almost a new dog. Now I am back again for elbow surgery on my poor dog. The staff has always been very friendly. They were very understanding of my drive and helped me get out of town just a little early. They called me every step of the way to let me know how it went. I am very greatful for what they have helped do for my beautiful boy.

Took our dog Bear in only to find out he has OCD in his rear hocks, was told his whole hind quarters needed to be replaced. Was supposed to hear back with in two weeks after results were sent to a colleague . Never heard back, and that was over 4 months ago. They seemed shocked when we had records sent to a different surgeon. Still never received any follow up call. Other specialist have said no sign of problems with hips or knees. My suggestion , go to someone less aggressive in treatment methods and will actually follow up with you.

Our dog was in pain and we had visited our vet twice in one week with no resolution. We are in Northnern Idaho and drove to SunValley in one day for Dr. Acker to see our dog. Our dog went in for surgery that day. There was a clear change in his disposition the following day and we were greatful for the immediate response and attention given to us and to our four legged friend. The professionalism and discharge information was top of the line. I can' t say thank you enough for seeing my dog so quickly and providing him with relief. Greatly appreciated and thankful.

Great Experience. Our Lab had a torn ACL and the staff fix him and sent him home. Their paperwork was spot on and even received a follow up call checking on him. Great People Great Service and Wonderful Doctors.

I recently had to put my most beloved Doberman down. She had developed wobblers and had surgery in Boise. After two months of therapy she was still unable to get up. A friend suggested I contact Dr. Randy Acker at Sun Valley Animal Center. I had barely hit the send button on my email when Dr. Acker was calling me. After extensive testing and looking at every scenario to see if he could help her, Dr. Acker sadly informed us that the most humane thing we could do was let her go as there was too much damage for him to be able to save her. I can't express enough gratitude for the care and compassion that was shown to me and my daughter by Dr. Acker and his staff. Dr. Acker spent pretty much a whole day exploring and explaining procedures to us. I truly believe if I had taken my dog to Dr. Acker when we realized what was wrong, I would have her today. Dr. Acker will always be my first choice in a medical situation, not the last resort.

The SVAC hospital and the SVAC boarding center seem to be different businesses that do not get along. Several times I have been in the facility when someone from the hospital is visibly angry with someone from the boarding center. My review …
