Basically, what VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital does is make deals with the Hawaiian Humane Society and affiliates in order to trick and hoodwink unsuspecting pet owners. For example, if you go and adopt a cat from the Humane Society, or any of it's satellite affiliates, they will offer you all sorts of discounted fees to the VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital. Then, after they've tricked you into bringing your animal in, they charge you outrageous prices for everything else. They make it very difficult to know the costs of procedures before hand and, while at least one of the staff showed some care, the business as a whole lacks ethics and compassion. The deal with that they have with the HHS is completely unethical and full of deceit. The HHS should be ashamed of itself for such a partnership. Nobody adopts a stray cat so they can pay $100's or even $1,000's in unnecessary vet charges. As you can see on other reviews, folks have complained about the cost of a travel certificate. For the cost of a pet travel certificate for a cat, most places charge about $50. VCA Kaneohe hospital, charges $200 and wouldn't tell you that until afterwards. EVEN IF THEY OFFER YOU FREE STUFF, DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE! p.s. VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital, please don't leave me one of the bogus generic comments that you left for everyone else. It's disingenuous.

I had a little freak out with my 6 month old puppy after her spaying. It was Sunday and I was worried. The staff was professional. They were quick but not rushed. The receptionists, the techs and the doctor were kind and reassuring. We learned that my puppy was doing great and going to be fine. After all of that the price for their services was very reasonable. I fully recommend VCA Kaneohe. Thank you.

I was so happy with how everyone handled and treated my very anxious dog during curbside/drop-off service. They were all calm, kind, and patient with her. They took time to make her comfortable in the parking lot and then carried her in when she was still nervous. Previous animal hospitals we've been to wanted her to be sedated for simple visits. But she didn't have issues with VCA's staff.

My dog went in for a very minor procedure. Dr did a great job with keeping me in the loop and letting me know what to expect. She also informed me that they were behind in surgeries so my dogs procedure had been pushed back. I dropped my dog off at 7am with her favorite blanket to keep her company. I was sure to tell the staff that she hadn’t used the bathroom yet for that day. Fast forward to 6pm and I receive my dog and her blanket covered in urine. Did they just not take her out the whole day and instead made her lay in a filthy kennel even after she received a bunch of fluids for her procedure? They couldn’t remove the blanket and put a pad? I would’ve been more than happy to drop my dog off at a later time to better accommodate VCA’s busy schedule, but that option was never offered to me. They couldn’t put the sopped blanket in a bag and let me know what happened? Lots of questions I hoped to get answered by the hospital manager who said they were going to follow up with me, but unfortunately I never received that call. Was a huge fan of VCA; always have good docs and energetic techs. This experience was unacceptable and I’d expect better follow up from an organization such as VCA. With all the vets in the island , I’ll be sure to find one that can provide the best service, even for “not important” patients

I brought my dog to them when he had been vomiting and unwell. The Vet said he was “okay” and gave him some anti-nausea medication. Less than 24 hours later, my dog needed to be euthanized because his ailment was in-fact “bloat” and he had been struggling for too long. Prior to finding a vet who could see Jack properly, I tried to take him back to VCA for help and they denied us. Very sad.

I took my dog Tunda to this hospital he was just not himself throwing up and weak I took him there and after they asked me what my budget was I gave them a number and they preceded to take test I didn't realize how expensive this hospital was but I was willing to do what I could. I was able to qualify for care credit and ran all the tests the Dr recommended she had no precise answers of what needed to be done she still did not know what was ailing him she did give me the results of the test but was not sure exactly what was happening or what he had, she did say he was showing signs of liver failure but didn't know why even after we did all the test she recommended we took him home with all the meds and IV injection which they showed me how to administer so we could have him admitted in to a more affordable hospital but it never happened he passed later on in the early morning had the Dr told me to leave him I would have if she was more direct in what could happen instead of wishy washy I would have known better what to do. I would NEVER go there again.

I am very grateful for their service! They took in my cat without an appointment and took great care of her. I was concern about the bill as it was an unexpected event, but it was affordable and I am grateful for that.

Very good thorough professional work but very, very expensive ($$$$$$$$) plan on spending at least $200/$300 just having your pet walk in the door. Took my pet in for a skin allergy and got meds ($700). Meds made my pet sicker. Returned to VCA to pay another $250 for the vets mistake. A treatment is inconsistent as your pet would get a different vet every visit.

If I could give less I would. Called me to she was ready for pick up showed up and she wasn’t ready. Sat in the parking lot for 45 mins! Then they proceeded to charge over $200 for a health certificate. A piece of paper saying yes they checked to make sure she had all her shots.

We’ve been taking our dachshunds to this vet hospital for several years and was always pleased with their high quality professionalism & heart full caring service for our babies. Dr King and the rest of the staff is awesome. We experienced nightmare services at another vet & once we switched to VCA & saw what vet caring should be, we never returned to that other quack veterinarian. We recently relocated out of Hawaii and hope to find a vet as caring as VCA Kaneohe was to us. We appreciate your support in making our traveling transition experience smoothly and safe for Bulla girl. Thank you so much to all the caring staff there. Your support through the years mean a lot to us. Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo nui!

It had come time for my 17 yr. old cat “Kolohe” to be put to sleep. Another vet on the Windward side (FFUR) that had just charged us $1000+ for an exam had refused for me & my husband to be with him at the end. I am so grateful I called VCA KANEOHE and thank them for their kindness and understanding at this sad time. They told us take all the time you need and that they would have a paw print taken for us. Dr. King came in for the procedure and explained to us what he would be doing, what my cat would feel, etc.and patiently answered all of our questions. Their understanding and heartfelt deeds meant so much to us at this time and I will be forever grateful! As of that day 3/22/21 VCA Kaneohe will be my primary choice for any future pets I have. (Which may be very soon as we have a feral cat that has adopted us & needs care! ????) Again, Mahalo and Much Aloha to Dr. King and staff at VCA KANEOHE.

Very hard to be able to talk to your doctor about your animal. They want you to make an appointment if you want just a conversation.

Do not bring your pets here. I brought a stray kitten I found to this vet to make sure she was healthy and okay. The vet told me other than being dehydrated, she was healthy. No signs of parasites or fleas. Wrong. She had flea dirt all over her and I found at least 5 fleas on her when I brought her home. Clearly they didn’t look closely. This hospital should have run full tests on this 4 week old kitten to make sure she didn’t have any other issues. A simple blood glucose test at least to check for hypoglycemia. I had to request them to look at her ears because they looked infected and afterwards they said you’re right, she has a yeast infection in her ears. They were clearly careless, not observant or thorough. What’s worse.. the kitten became lethargic and I had to take her to an emergency vet where they told me she was anemic, low blood sugar, low red blood cell count. Hypoglycemia. We had to put her to sleep. The emergency vet told us this could have been prevented if this had been identified earlier and not told that she was perfectly healthy. If the VCA vet had done a proper and thorough job maybe we could have saved the kitten. But at least show some rigor and care in your work. This was a shameful case of negligence. I paid $186 for a meaningless, careless, unprofessional diagnosis.

The wait time to talk to the doctor was 4 times what I was told. Otherwise everything was great. Normal wonderful attention and care.

The fact that I just paid 400$ just for 3 health certificates is absolutely crazy to me! Flying our animals to island, 3 health certificates was 60$. In no way am I going to recommend VCA ever again when feather & fur is incredibly cheaper in every aspect from exams, vaccines, & health certificates. GO THERE INSTEAD!!!

Brought my fur baby to get nails clipped. The No Contact system they're using is efficient and easy, and the vet tech was super nice. Great experience.

We had to put our beloved dog Lani girl to sleep and everyone at VCA that day made us feel very comfortable and comforted!! I cannot say enough how grateful my wife and I am for how incredibly gracious and kind the staff were to us while going through such a hard and heartbreaking moment!! Lani girl felt no pain and went to sleep forever. Thanks VCA!!

Wanted to update my review. Since my unpleasant experience a couple of years ago, VCA has made a real effort to give me better service and my dog Shaggy is much happier going to VCA for his yearly visits. They actually made a real effort to address my problems I had which I really appreciated. Keep up the good work!

I'm very disappointed in the care my oldest dog received. 5 months ago I brought her in with cough. After doing no more tests than a listening to her lungs I was told at her age a collapsed trachea. Wouldn't common sense tell you to start with a simpler diagnosis? Fast forward to last weekend i had to rush her to Feather and fur with aspirated pneumonia. 5-6 months ago she aspirated something into her lung which gave her the cough and ultimately pneumonia. Which vca missed and then when the day came that she couldn't breathe, vca wanted to charge me $98 just to walk thru the door. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else

Helpful and friendly staff. Treated our family wonderfully when my son's 17 year old Pitt Bull, who never knew he was a dog, having been raised in the house, suddenly died.
