We have been taking our dogs there for many years now, and we are so happy with them. The doctors and especially the nursing staff have been amazing. They are our extended dog family and we wouldn’t go anywhere else!

My rescue dog from Fur Angles had an oak surgery appointment scheduled before I got her. They were more then helpful informing me about what was going to happen and what I needed to do for her. The care she received was outstanding from start to finish. Would recommend 100% for anytime looking for a vet.

Got my cat's annual check up, vaccine, nails trimmed. Micro chipped to boot. Call from Dr. Sasaki who is great and all the staff.

I really love Kakaako Pet Hospital. It's in a convenient location close to my home, the staff really take care of my puppy and they are super friendly. I'm glad my puppy is in such wonderful hands when we visit KPH for his check ups.

Ive been coming here since I moved in 2019 and honestly LOVED this place. The people are amazing and they really cared about my dog and her health issues. Dr. Kenny was an amazing vet and it’s a shame she moved away because I really liked her honesty and willingness to tell me the truth about all my choices to help my dog. I changed to a different vet and my experience was alright, everyone was still super friendly. This week though they’ve had someone who doesn’t usually answer the phones, I’m not sure if it’s a new or different front desk assistant. I called earlier last week and she was very unprofessional. Sighing on the phone, sounded agitated. It was not a good experience. I did call her out on it but let it go, everyone has a bad day at work, I understand that. Today when I called though for my dogs condition, she was very defensive and exclaiming that I am accusatory of the office and saying they are basically not doing their jobs. She became defensive about our phone conversation the other day and it was so unprofessional. It left me in tears mostly because it breaks my heart that I feel like I need to find a new vet for Lola. It’s crazy how one bad apple can really plant a bad seed. She was not a nice person… maybe she did have my dogs health in mind but it didn’t sound like it at all. Customer service is very important! Kakaako vet would do themselves a favor by taking her off the phones and having the wonderful people who usually work them on. Very upsetting that I am now looking for a new vet for help.

We know our pet is in good hands when he comes to see you. Covid has been tricky, but you've managed to find a process that keeps everyone safe while our pet still gets great care. We are so grateful to be part of your 'Ohana!

I used Kakaako Pet Hospital in the past when my pups regular vet went on vacation, then he decided to retire a few years ago. I permanently switched over to Kakaako Pet Hospital and am glad I did. I have had multiple bad experiences with VCA so they were never going to be an option for me. They entire staff seems to remember all of the pets names as well as the owners. I am extremely satisfied with the experience, professionalism, and rapport with the entire staff starting with receptionist and ending with the Vet I recently had to take one of my pups to be looked at and they were able to fit me in same day. I was not expecting that and everything went smoothly with no problems. Other than perhaps my accidentally hanging up on the vet but that was me not them. If you are looking for a vet or need one in an emergency, I highly recommend Kakaako Pet Hospital.

Dr koreyasu genuinely cares about your pet. She will contact you promptly on any issues. Will discuss different options of treatment with you first. Whereas I sat there cringing about the cost , I was very pleased with outcome.

My cat was trying to pee but little or nothing in litter box. She was acting ok but her appetite was low and frequency to litter box high. I called in the morning and they were able to take her in the same morning. Shawnee was very kind and understanding during intake. Dr. Sasaki was very thorough and informative. explained what she found and did not find. Suggested what I could do in the future to prevent a recurrance. Being able to drop her off for treatment and getting a call when she is ready for pick up is great. I would recommend this facility and staff for anyone needing pet care.

Every experience has always been fantastic. They always take great care of our kitties.

A great hospital for your pet

Update 2021: This practice is not the same that it was 3years ago with my original review. I am routinely finding that the office staff do not return phone calls in a timely manner, or get messages to the vet. I called to schedule a new pet appointment and board a pet for the following week. I called in the morning on a Friday, followed up in the late afternoon on Saturday, and was still told to wait for a callback. I don't want to find a new vet, but I am very disappointed in the front office staff not communicating. It makes me sad that this has been on ongoing issues with the front office staff and missed/unreturned phone calls. Dr. Yasunaga and staff are wonderful. I was very concerned about finding the right vet after leaving my dogs vet since she was 6wks old and 7yrs of long history to come to Hawaii. Southern needed to be put under anesthesia for her teeth cleaning. A fairly routine procedure, except for my furbaby has had trouble with "routine anesthesia" from dental care in the past. I informed Dr. Yasunaga of my anesthesia concerns, and being a nurse I'm even more of a nervous dog mom! I called two days before surgery with a slew of questions and the staff tried to answer everything they could, they also left a message with Dr. Yasunaga to call me back. She spoke with me for a solid 10mins answering questions and I never felt she was rushed to get me off the phone. The day of surgery everyone knew I was worried about my furbaby and they kept me so informed. Much better than bedside nurses ???? and hospital doctors! I was called prior to IV placement to make sure it was ok to shave her leg to make it easier and to be notified they were starting. I received pictures as requested and a text when she was finished, followed by a followup phone call from Dr. Yasunaga. Everyone went above and beyond to make me feel at ease and as comfortable as I was with my vet back home. I'm so great to have found a vet in Hawaii that is up to date, and so accommodating and caring with pleasant friendly staff. I would love to recommend Kaka'ako Pet Hospital, but I want to keep them a secret too so we can always get an appointment when needed ???? Caring veterinary clinics can be difficult to come by as it is a business. Thank you Dr. Yasunaga and staff for not making us feel like a pay check and instead like family or Ohana as said in Hawaii.

Great staff and friendly service

I am amazed how incompetent the front office is. My official service dog rides inside my rollator walker so when I was in crosswalk a piece of asphalt stopped the front right wheel and flipped her out. She walks with a limp now. I asked Kakaako Pet Hospital for an estimate of cost written out as requested by the State but they said don’t think we can do that. So how does somebody know if they have the money to pay Vet bill? Aren’t the prices there already? Sounds too Mickey Mouse to me. No offense Mickey.

Kaka'ako Pet Hospital is, simply put, amazing. Every single member of their staff is knowledgeable, caring, respectful, kind, sweet, and professional. We moved to Oahu two years ago with our (at the time) 16 year old cat, Sirius. At first our visits were routine checkups and the staff at the hospital treated Sirius and us like family. When you come in for your scheduled visit they pull out all the stops to make you feel welcome and to keep your pet at ease. From personalized white board greetings, friendly people to chat with at the front desk, even offering refreshments while you wait. Their doctors are very knowledgeable, very kind, and very supportive. They even recently opened up a separate waiting area and exam rooms just for cats! Unfortunately, Sirius took a turn for the worse a half a year ago and developed tumors on most of his body. These people literally saved his life several times. And they did it with such care, such grace, and such respect. When the time finally came to send our boy off into sleep, they helped us even during one of the worst times in the world- with everything we think of as normal being upended by pandemic. While keeping themselves and us safe they still were able to support us through that last impossible visit. The care was so appreciated- they will never know how much. So much respect and kindness. If you are looking for a pet hospital and are using these reviews you honestly don't need to go further. If they take care of you and your pet even a fraction of how they treated us then you are going to have the best vet experience you have ever had. As I said in the beginning- they are amazing.

Kaka'ako pet hospital's doctors and staff are incredibly caring and attentive when it comes to your pet's health and wellness! We brought our 6 mos old Pacific Bully to Kaka'ako Pet Hospital for spaying as they participate in the City & County's "Neuter Now" program which makes the process much more affordable. Dr. Sasaki, Dr. Koreyasu, and staff took great care of Chloé even with some unforeseen complications due to Chloé having a reaction to the sutures. Dr. Sasaki thoroughly explained to us every step of the way the reason for Chloé's reaction and helped her to recover quickly with some TLC. As pet parents it is a relief to know that your fur baby is in good hands especially since our fur babies can't communicate with words! Chloé is so happy to go to the vet and wiggles her little butt every time she sees one of the technicians coming out to get her. Thank you Kaka'ako Pet Hospital! *Side Note* Trupanion's pet insurance came in really handy and the staff will process claims for you seamlessly and everything was taken care of in a timely manner!

This is the best vet office we have been to! Super safe with Covid, in a great area and the vet herself and techs were super kind on the phone and willing to help. They took their time with us on the phone as well and very fair pricing. Will definitely recommend and bring both my cats here!!
