We rescued Drake, a full-blooded Husky with no prior experience with this breed. He's sweet and loving, yet has that Husky stubborn streak. Our vet recommended Smith Farms for training. The first time we met Andy, we knew he has a way with animals that puts them at ease and he was the one we would trust to train Drake (and us). Three weeks with Andy and Drake now minds, calmly greets people and animals and is a pleasure to walk. Smith Farms is a wonderful facility with beautiful grounds and clean kennels. Their staff is very friendly and takes great care of the animals as if they were their own. We will definitely use them for boarding and highly recommend them for training!

Customer service was great. Had a last minute emergency and my pit couldn't go. Only kennel willing to watch him at the last minute. Such a God send and the communication was awesome throughout the weekend.

It has now been 2 weeks since my 1-year-old (spayed female) Cur/Sheppard named Bella has been home from her 3 week training. I had her trained because she had developed some bad habits. I did not want to give up on her and have her rehomed since she is a sweet loving dog. Andy brought her to the house and we went through her commands so that I would know how to handle her. She went through them perfectly. He told me that to keep up with her training I needed to go through these commands a couple times a day for 10 minutes to keep them instilled in her. So the next day came along and we started to go through our training. My stubborn dog decided she didn't need to mind me. BUT after a few minutes of me being stubborn too and making her do what she needed to she actually decided - "Okay I'll do what I'm supposed to". So yes those training sessions are important to follow so that she then knows she has to mind you as the owner not just the trainer. My granddaughter came to visit the first week after her training. I was concerned because when my grandchildren visited before Bella would bark uncontrollably when they played with their toys. I was very happy to see that now she would sit by me and behave. When she got a little nervous I would do what Andy suggested. At the end of my two and a half year olds visit she was actually playing with her nicely. Two weeks after her training I decided to take her to the park to go for a walk. Again my stubborn dog decided she was going to walk me and forgot all her training. BUT again it took us 15 minutes of going through her training and doing what Andy showed me and she started to realize she had to again follow my instructions and we actually ended up with a very nice walk and her behaving. So I highly recommend Smith Boarding Farms to anyone whose fur baby needs training. I have also boarded her there and sent her to doggy day care. They do an absolutely great job!

Great place. Very nice staff, big property for pups to play. My yard is a bit too small for my bloodhound, so I enjoy bringing her here for some exercise and running room. My dog is a rescue and was undersocialized as a pup, and is a bit shy of people. The staff here do a very good job of interacting with her despite her shyness, and she is becoming more and more confident as I've been bringing her out there. We'll be a regular!

Excellent, excellent, excellent from start to finish! My puppy Bella, was uncontrollable, she's a German Shorthaired Pointer (Bird dog) she was a puppy being a puppy. She was always jumping up on us, she almost knocked us over. We are following our training and her training and everything is wonderful, we have built up to a stay position of 10 minutes. Andy is GREAT, he went so far as to bring her home and go over Bella's training with us. He is the BEST and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Smith Farms Board and Train Program. We did the 3 week program and WORTH every penny. Thanks Andy, Bella is doing great and my Dad works with her twice a day!

We left our standard poodle, Kingston, for boarding and training at Smith’s. The training has been remarkably effective! Our 10 month old pup learned so much. It’s such a relief. Our family felt lost and unsure how to get our pup to behave in the home and listen for any significant period of time. She would jump on any visitor and our kids, counter surf, generally not come when called, pull on the leash and more. She wasn’t aggressive just hyper and selective in deciding when to listen. Andy had her for 3 weeks of obedience training, and the change is amazing. We visited her about half way through and Andy taught us the techniques he’s been using. It was so wonderful to see the progress she’d already made. Andy also brought her back to our home at the end and went through the techniques again. He also gave us tips given our home set up. We were clearly doing things that were not helpful to encouraging her obedience. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and money well spent. We also thought the boarding facilities were great. The kennels are not close to our home in Buckhead (about 45 mins away) but we like that there is plenty of space on the farm, the cleanliness, and a staff that clearly cares greatly about the dogs. Whenever we need to travel, we will plan to board our dog at Smith’s. She also came home clean which is great, especially when you have a dog with a lot of hair!

By far one of the cleanest kennels ever!!! My experience was warm-welcoming from the time I stepped in the door... Believe me just 2 days with their kennel technician Najir, and your doggy-dog is going to be in a better shape than before you dropped them off. ????. I couldn’t have gone to a better place !

My Great Pyrenees started with Darrell and the Smith Farms Kennel when she was a puppy. Every experience has been excellent. Harriet received obedience training during an extended stay when we were out of town. The trainer used techniques specifically called for by her breed and disposition. Each stay at Smith Farms offers the friendly, safe environment we want for our dog. I highly recommend a visit where you will find a clean, well thought out space and activities to keep your pup happy while you are away.

Our first experience boarding our dog Paco for the day was excellent. We returned to a very happy and excited pup who promptly laid across the back seat to snooze on the ride home, which NEVER happens. He was very happy around all the staff and almost dragged me back inside the fence as he was apparently not done having a good time. If he is happy, I'll take his word for it every time.

We brought our dog in for human and dog aggressive behavior. Our dog is a 2 year old dog that we adopted during covid who had been abandoned at a facility due to a bite history. To give a better understanding of our situation, we had to use 4 pet sitters in 5 days to take care of our dog as he was aggressive with everyone. Upon meeting with Darrell for the dog assessment, he was able to walk our dog successfully and pet him. While this doesn't seem like much, we've had our dog for 3 months at this point and had not been able to get anyone to pet our dog without a muzzle on because he would bite without warning. This was the first time we've witnessed anyone else successfully doing this without getting a bite or an attempted bite. Our first interaction with Darrell had been great. He's professional, knows his stuff, and can read dogs well. He's able to manage their behavior and understands what their boundaries are to help build the trust with the dog. We decided to move forward with Darrell for the 4 week dog training where our pup got lots of basic obedience training as well as curbing his human and dog aggression. The day our pup started training, he bit Darrell twice (sorry!), but Darrell took it extremely calmly as if it was nothing. The bites validated that we desperately needed this training to curb this behavior. He corrected our dog and proceeded on with training. A week later, we received a video of our dog running around with Darrell and having fun, obeying, and loving being around him. At the end of the training, our pup has really learned the heel command and stopped sniffing/marking everything on our walks. He's now been pet by many people (with a lot of supervision), and has made new dog friends. He's not loving everyone yet, but it's a major step in the right direction and we couldn't have done it without Darrell and his incredible team. Thanks so much for helping give this pup a second chance at life!

Area and location is nice, communication great but when I got my dog back he was not in good condition. He looked smaller even though they told me he was eating and came home filthy. I was told he dug up gravel and requested a bath before I came to pick him up just for them to tell me they couldn’t do it..but at least a simple brush down would’ve been nice? I feel like if I drop off my dog looking clean and healthy I should get him back the same way. This was only for six days, i was going to extend it a bit longer but I’m glad I did not. This was one of my fears. Edit (In respone to the 'owner') : At first i left it at three stars but the response is just excuses at this point. I okay’d the extra food, yes but how come all of this was not messaged down to ME? This is allllllll new information I have never heard of and my dog never snaps at anyone - this is all new information. If this all went down I would have asked my immediate family to pick him up right away!! I called in on how he was doing only to get responses that he’s great , eating like crazy and is stubborn whenever it’s time to get into the kennel. I don’t make things up and it surely wasn’t ten days. I should know lol, it was suppose to be ten days but I decided to come back a few days EARLY. His weight dropped a LOT it should’ve been at the point that you contact me to let me know of his conditions not AFTER the fact. I’m severely disappointed to see this because this could’ve been prevented. I have attached pictures to show proof, I don't like being lied on with the excuses on top of it. Anyone can say 'your dog snapped' or aggressive behavior as a rebuttal. When you know your dog especially raising them as your own - you know the honest truth. Before pic the day before boarding and now (and this is after his grooming that i had to schedule immediately the next following day. he looked uncomfortable.).

Recently I had to leave town and needed to board my dog in the Atlanta area. Despite numerous kennels being closer to me, I chose Smith farms which is a 45min drive from my home. As a person that has experienced many different kennels, I am happy to say this business deserves a 5 star rating. If you are in the Atlanta area and are looking for a great boarding situation for your furry friend, this is the place. Check them out!

We just got Hendrix the Flat coat goldendoodle back from the 3 week training program. Hendrix went to Smith Farms at 8 months old and as hyper as he could be. He didn’t know the difference between when it was ok to play and jump and when he should be calm. After two weeks I went to train with Andy and Hendrix and I was SHOCKED at how obedient and calm he was. Flash forward to today- one week later and he is amazing. Andy brought Hendrix all the way home to Woodstock and spent ample time with my family and I in our environment teaching us the commands and gestures to continue keeping Hendrix “in line” at home. I can confidently say that Hendrix has received the best training and has already turned into an awesome dog after 3 short weeks. This is by far the best decision we have made for our family. We will continue to work with him on his drills that Andy taught us all and I can’t wait to see where Hendrix will be in a year. I did A LOT of research on training programs and trust me when I say that if you’re hesitant or iffy about choosing this program- GO FOR IT. you will NOT be disappointed. Thank you to Andy and the team for EVERYTHING. we will definitely see you soon for some meet ups and boarding in the future! Cheers from Woodstock!

As an experienced dog owner/kennel customer, I know quality when I see it, and I demand nothing less than that for my dogs. Smith Farms more than exceeds my expectations. I looked hard for a kennel as a new Atlanta resident, and I am pleased in every way! Millie loves it there!

My experience was great and pleasant. I definitely recommend to family & friends. Kenna was very helpful and welcoming answering all of our questions. For sure will come back when we go out of town again. We ended up extending our trip and the staff was very understanding and cool.

Training your dog is an investment well spent with Smith Farms Boarding, Kennel and Training. Training a dog isn’t easy, it’s an art and a science, skills I don’t possess, nor can I learn on youtube, if you want to enjoy your dog, train them right with Smith Farms.
