Ask detailed questions before you pay app fee. Realize I am not a good candidate due to being at work 4 days a week and also they can't screen if cat compatible.

ALR took a chance on this sweet boy who was in need of lots of TLC, and I’m so grateful to have been connected with him as his foster parent for 2 months now. ????

We are so grateful to ALR for bringing our sweet pup into our lives. ALR adapted to the COVID-19 circumstances well - a true test for any organization. 99% of our interactions were done electronically, other than meeting the dog at his foster (outside in a dog park) and him getting dropped off at our home (outside). The process had some back and forth until we could find the right fit, but we're appreciative of it; you can tell ALR focuses on finding a truly good fit for the person and their homes to reduce the number of pups that get brought back. We were provided an informative packet with how to ease our new pup into our home as well as previous medical records. Our pup fit right into our little family and has brought joy into our lives every day since. The only constructive criticism I can provide is the delay between the dog adoption and the removal of the pup from the website. I think if that part of the process was improved, it could potentially help reduce a bit of the back and forth with the volunteers. That said, I can't imagine how busy they must be, especially during COVID-19 with adoptions at an all-time high, so perhaps it was a result of the circumstances.

It wasn't a terrible experience, but I wasn't pleased. Unlike many, I did receive a confirmation email that my app was received and someone did call me (she was really nice and professional) to discuss what kind of dog we were looking for. She alerted me that the dog we were interested had a pending adoption and she would follow up. I ended up having to call them, left a message, and then received a text (not a call even though I called them) that this dog was adopted and to check back, nothing more. This practice isn't uncommon for rescues, but I've also never paid an application fee. I would hope for a bit more support since I showed I was very interested by paying the application fee. And then you just feel pushed aside when we could potentially be a great home for one of their dogs. It's just not good business practice. Best of luck to them, but unfortunately I won't be checking back.

We adopted a sweet Yellow Lab from another Metro Atlanta Rescue in 2014, after not receiving an approval in a timely manner from Atlanta Lab Rescue. So happy that this happened ! Our girl is the best! I can't believe that Atlanta Lab Rescue is charging an application fee!!! We had lost our lab of 14 years so definitely knew what being a lab owner is all about but still was questioned by Atlanta Lab . At the Pet Smart in Buckhead meet and greet, one of Atlanta Lab Rescue's dogs bit my preschool aged child on the arm. Luckily, she was fine and did not need further medical care. After several weeks after attending the open house(actually on the day we brought our new puppy home), Atlanta Lab called to tell us that we had been approved. At this point, I didn't even ask which dog and simply said not interested. Very sad that the management of this organization is so terrible and that dogs are waiting in foster care when people want to adopt. We didn't pursue additional action in the biting incident which they should be relieved! Beware and don't pay fees! Ridiculous!

After a frustrating 9 months, I am no closer to adopting a dog from this organization, and will no longer try to. It seems to me that they have an ideal for their preferred adopter, and if you don't fit that to a tee, you aren't prioritized or really helped much at all. I've owned and been around dogs my entire life, and am an active person with experience and time to give to a dog. However, I currently live in an apartment, and for this, I seem to have been rejected time and again. I understand that not every dog is right for this environment, but this organization made no attempt to point me towards dogs that would be, even after months of an approved application and showing up at adoption events. Here was a capable individual actively looking to adopt, but it was clear they didn't have any interest in helping me find the right dog, which is a shame.

Filled out the on line form and paid my 25 dollars. Never received a reply and thier is no number to call. In reading these reviews, I see this is frequent. I hope its not a scam and my 25 bucks at least helped a dog.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS PLACE!!! They will take your $25 & never respond to you!! If you find a dog off petfinder and it brought you to here I’m sorry.

I applied for a specific dog the day she got added to the website because I fell in love with her picture on Facebook and have what could be her twin at home and never heard a thing from them. Kinda concerning considering they have no phone number posted anywhere and you have to pay $25 to even apply and be "considered". Now she isn't on the website. I'm super upset.

This lab rescue claimed my dog wasn't up to date on his shots when I gave them the report from the vet. What audacity! How could they know more about my dog's health than his vet? Vet said all his shots and treatments were complete. What kind of lab rescue is it if they won't take a perfectly healthy pure bred lab? He is 2 years old and he's an exceptional dog with two champion parents.

Well run. When you get there text them and they’ll let you in to keep the number of people in at one time manageable.

Submitted app for a specific dog and paid fee, never heard a word back. I can take disappointment, knowing a dog got adopted by someone else, but to charge $ and never even respond is irresponsible. Seems like quite a few have experienced the same issue. I won’t be contributing to this rescue organization, and recommend you look elsewhere for a dog.

Becky and her team of volunteers are very dedicated to finding great forever families for these labs. They are great to work with. I recommend this rescue.

We walked up to their adoption event at the petsmart in Atlanta & were immediately dismissed because we had young children. We were told that they don’t adopt out to families whose children are under 5. We were shocked to hear this because we didn’t see this on their website. When we told this to the lady who dismissed us she said it’s on there at least 3 times. Upon getting both kids back in the car we checked the website to see where we missed it, going through all the links & it’s not on there. We understand places have their polices especially not knowing where the dogs come from which was her statement about the kids’ age and is not being able to adopt. But at least have the information on your website and/or social media pages! We drove an hour to go here hoping to find a good family dog that our kids could grow up with and was rudely dismissed about some policy that’s not stated with no apology. Wish we had got the ladies name.

I will forever be grateful to ALR for matching me with my sweet soul, Rebel. The application process will show one that ALR isn't trying to just find a place for dogs; they want to make sure the animal will have the love and stability of a forever home. They were honest with me about what to expect and everything went smoothly and was well communicated. It's an all volunteer organization and they truly love the dogs they rescue. I highly recommend!

I really appreciate the great job they do. They are so helpful and caring. My foster dog Maggie is absolutely adorable. We have bonded and she is remarkably smart. Love my Maggie.

Extremely bad experience. Paid application fee, and have had no responses for several months. Went out to adoption days, picked 3 best dogs, only to be told they won't work for my environment. May just be the way they operate, but I don't quite understand why they would bring dogs out for adoption, and then tell you your choices are bad. Anyway, I am sure it works better for some other folks that have patience to wait for many months, or years, but it hasn't worked for me.

Adopted a wonderful dog, they were very helpful throughout the process and drove all the way to my house to bring us our new dog. They really care about the animals they have and try to place them in the best homes.

Paid the $25 Application fee and never heard anything back. No email, no call, no nothing and it’s been over 2 months. But I did adopt a beautiful black lab from ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY, who were absolutely wonderful! Skip this place and the hassle of losing money for nothing, it’s not worth it!

We have adopted 2 dogs from ALR. They were very helpful with both. We continue to go back and volunteer so we can give back and help other dogs.

After I filled out an adoption application, Stacey called me to talk about the right dog for our situation. She continued to text and respond throughout our search. I appreciate that she stayed in touch. We never met, but I felt I had an advocate. Even when I found the right dog at our local shelter, Stacey rejoiced with us and wished us happily ever after.

The owner of the restaurant came to our table several times during our luncheon, to ask us if we needed anything. The Server was very polite and extremely accommodating to all of us. The food was absolutely delicious the best Italian food I have ever had. The restaurant is beautifully decorated the interior is old, vintage ???????? Italy, with a splash of Pictures that brought you back to the 30's and 40's. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra. There is even a Picture of Bobby Hull, one of the Greatest Hockey players ever, who played for the Black Hawks.. highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

A lab rescue who doesn’t recognize all colors of labs. I would not suggest this rescue.
