Firehall 4 Animal Hospital Athens, Georgia

Jan 3,2022 8:00 am My 11 yr old Jack Russell had been on antibiotics from Firehall for an abscess tooth. Thought the vets & techs were good ?? WRONG! Decided after holiday would have removed. 1. She was 1st on list for vet Jennifer peterson. Was told by tech she would not be in till 9, I asked for a call from vet when she arrived. Never called! 2. Did not start anesthesia until 3 hrs later, very cold in waiting room & assume cage in boarding area was as bad. I Did take her blanket. Did surgery on another dog . Still no update! 3. I was very worried and I’m sure she was extremely cold & frightened. Decided @ 12:04 would call , put on hold after telling asst why I was calling. Finally tech came on & said they were having complications, could not get her warm under anesthesia & her heart rate & temp had dropped. Had stopped anesthesia and were trying to get her warm & vitals up! They had taken a Full set of X-rays and to make it worse decided to Clean all teeth before extraction.(what? The very reason she was there to get bad abscess tooth out! So they wasted @ least an hour doing xrays & cleaning all of her teeth instead of extracting tooth & then doing cleaning if she was ok. So the very Reason to do surgery was Not done because cleaning teeth was performed 1st !! This is absurd ! 4. So almost lost my dog to their negligence. Had to take off anesthesia because of her vitals going so low! 5. Vet finally called approx 12:45 , 4 1/2 hrs after I had taken her. Kept telling me I wasn’t listening!! What? My dog in danger & all she said was I wasn’t listening!! Never apologized for their incompetence! I immediately left to be w my dog that was still having major problems with her vitals. She was jerking & whining ( never whines) the room was very cold and I mentioned that and they were continually checking her vitals which had dropped again. Finally brought a heater in room & then a heating device to warm her because vitals were low. .6. This is Total Incompetence and not using common sense. You don’t do unnecessary treatment on an 11 yr old dog before The very Reason she was in surgery which was to extract tooth. Absolutely no excuse! Probably only reason my pup is alive is because I was there w her & they had to check on her to appease me. 6. But certainly didn’t waste any time charging me $435 as soon as I got her to car over 4 hrs after I got to the clinic being in a room with her. She had been there a total of 9 hours!! For absolutely Nothing except to cause her pain & almost lost her & tremendous anxiety for me. Still don’t know what effects she will have from this! I’ll NEVER USE THIS VET OFFICE or vet Jennifer Petterson EVER AGAIN! I’ll Read reviews ( they only have 3 stars on google) and get personal referrals! I should have checked out ! I wrote a 5 star review earlier but certainly didn’t know that when major problems happen they obviously. Are not the vets to use !

We love Firehall 4, Dr. Laas, and every member of the team (front office and back) who takes care of our fur family members. Everyone is professional, attentive, and friendly. They go above and beyond. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

The staff was very friendly and they called to check on our cat a few days later. That was very kind.

I'm impressed. You got a new client!! Great Veterinary Hospital that has experience with exotic Animals. I took Red our 23 yr old Box Turtle to Dr. Gliken & she is wonderful!!l! The whole staff is friendly and also very knowledgeable. Our Bunny & Guinea Pig will be going there too‼️

Our cat Gracie got sick and we were able to get her in to see the doctor the next day. Gracie is not a "people" cat and does not like to be held. She runs and hides whenever anyone comes to our door. The gentle ladies at Firehall 4 put her at ease by giving her a nice towel to hide in and by handling her gently and talking sweetly to her. They answer all our questions and explain what's going on in understandable terms. They explain what tests and procedures can help with the diagnosis and let us know how much those tests or procedures cost and let us decide if we want to have the work done. And, they follow up the next day to check on how Gracie is feeling. We trust these ladies and highly recommend this great practice!

Compassionate about your pet.. easy to set up appt & allow owner inside exam room w pet ..Big reason to take your pet to Firehall. Very friendly staff & tech assistants. Always checks back in after appointment or to let you know results of test. extra thanks for return call on pet!! The only negative is the charge for medication but this is @ all vet offices. Could get much less @ pharmacy that has pet Rx.. thanks so much Dr Jones & staff. Y’all are the best !!

I trust Firehall and all the great lady vets to take the best care of my pets. I had a poodle with Cushings. They helped keep him going until the very end. And even that was a good experience because of exceptional kindness and professionalism. My cat Izzy is very sensitive and particular and they are kind and gentle and appreciate her funny personality. I’m thankful for them and the staff that is so well trained and compassionate.

The staff are always incredibly helpful and accommodating, even at the last minute and even if they have never seen the pet at their practice before. As a high volume daycare and boarding facility, we cannot thank them enough for the exceptional care they provide for our fosters as well as our staff and client pets!

We brought our rabbit here and couldn’t have had a better experience. Finding a good vet for exotic pets is no easy feat. They took us in at short notice and followed up several times to check on our pet after taking him home. Very glad to have found this place.

My bunny was wheezing and I calf this vet to get an appointment and I was surprised as to how fast they got my baby in to be seen. The staff was absolutely amazing and very caring. They took very good care of Bun Bun, I’m very pleased with my experience and will definitely be taking all my animals back there. Thank you guys ????

Routine vet check for a potential rescue adopter, they were prompt and very helpful. Our potential adopter has used them for years and raved about them.

I called several animal hospitals very frantically today to get my cat in for an issue she was having with her eye. Firehall 4 fit me in within 30 minutes of my call and immediately assisted me. It was pouring rain when I got there and they gave me a towel and helped me calm down. They were great with my cat and kept her comfortable the entire time. The price was decent and the staff were all super kind and patient.

Hudson had his first visit and we were totally impressed from being greeted on the chalk board to all of the friendly vet technicians and Dr Lass was wonderful with her advice and exam …highly recommend Firehall 4 Animal Hospitsl

Our puppy Niko loves going here. I've never had a dog that likes going to the vet. So much so that he refuses to get in the car and tries to run back to the building every time. Very friendly staff.

Dr. Glikin was very thorough, and extremely helpful with our reptile. As first time reptile owners we did our research, and followed what we thought was best. She reinforced that we were doing everything correct, and went through the many things that could be wrong with our bearded dragon. The prices are very reasonable, and they don’t recommend treatments that are necessary. I love this animal hospital!

Worked us right in so we could bring our sick baby in for a checkup and made him all better. Very thankful for this kind of service. Great team. Followed up the next day and checked in on him.

I started out boarding my two cats. I was so impressed I tried an annual visit. One cat has some problems and I’m very impressed by the phone calls and time taken to explain how to care for him. Very professional group. I felt Chester received a lot of good care and attention. We found a new home at Firehall 4!

I love the fact that the folks at Firehall 4 look a my smelly, old lady lab mix and go, "Ohh, we love a happy lab." They're very into happy pets, and I love that.

Wonderful experience every time. Very professional and caring staff who always take time to answer questions and provide information. They always follow up with a phone call too. I only wish my own medical providers were as nice as these people are!

I’ve took my shih Tzu here on a emergency. They charged me a wellness check because I never took my dog here before but that’s ok. My poor pup had a small scratch on his eye and the vet properly diagnose him and gave us ointment and some meds. All together was about over $100. Come here when you have a emergency because unlike other places they will not charge you $250 deposit fee!!

This a the best vet I’ve ever been to. Great staff that listens and gives good advice. Any time I hear someone has a new pet I make sure to recommend fire hall!

We cannot say enough great things about Firehall 4! We have seen all the vets at this practice and we love all of them. Our little scrappy terrier mixes, Louie and Sadie, can be a handful but everyone at this clinic always seems happy to see them. We even had to say goodbye to a beloved fur baby over a year ago and could not have had a more peaceful transition for her. Love that all the vets are women, too! Powerful!

We took our 2 dogs to Firehall for the first time and we immediately fell in love. These folks came highly recommended by some of our best friends and now we see why! Great staff, very personable, very responsive, and great with our dogs. looking forward to future visits

I've had nothing but positive experiences here in the 14 years I've been going. They respond to online appointments in a timely manner and the staff's overall level of communication is top notch. Their covid measures are excellent and operate in a way that seems like they start on your animal as soon as you drop them off. Very friendly staff and professional environment. Shout out to Dr. Halpin she rocks!

I have been bringing my cats to Firehall 4 for close to 7 years and have always felt that they care about my pets well being above all else. They listen and are happy to discuss everything no matter how big or small. The staff is super friendly, helpful and kind. The clinic is always very clean. I can't imagine taking my pets to anywhere else.

A great place to take your pet. They love animals and they show it by the way they talk to you explain everything to you, were you understand what's going on with your pet. They truly take care of your pet.

They take excellent care of both of my fur babies. Lennox is a 5lb Yorkie who thinks he’s a Rottweiler and he’s a handful! They treat him excellent and Holly does an outstanding job grooming him. I just got him groomed yesterday and he is precious ❤️
