This was my first dog boarding experience for so many days (10 nights). The overall experience was good but there is room for improvement What I like: - The facility itself, the playground is large and nice and the space where the dogs rest separated from each other in kennels has enough space for them to move around a bit (the standard). I like the fact that they let me go back to see the standard kennels before I decided to do the boarding - Overall the logistics seems to be well organized. - I really like that they offer the option of walking your dog! (even though its paid extra this is great and not easy to find) - Workers are nice - When I called they had someone answering the phone and providing information. What I don't like: - With so many options that technology offer these days, PLPR doesn't provide any possibility of watching your dog through cameras, not even send you pictures. Asking for pictures is only possible as part of an extremely expensive extra fee (no sense); so leaving your dog here requires blind trust, you don't see anything during their stay. I even paid for one day of pictures and I was very disappointed with the two they sent. The transparency implied in showing through images or video the day-to-day activities would be very valuable and to me might impact the decision for my next boarding. There are places that offer all day camera watch. - My dog went back home extremely thirsty! (unusual) so I think he didn't have enough water (at least that day). - I requested a bath for the pick up day and scheduled a specific time; he was very nice and clean but still humid and with a strange smell as if they have used wet towels.

We boarded our dogs for two weeks here, and this is not the first time we’ve booked pet lodge pet resort. I’d say we’ve used them about 10 times now. Our dogs have a specific raw meat diet plan that we carefully explained to a staff member (again not the first time we’ve had to explain this meal plan to them). After picking them up, we noticed one dog was extremely skinny and not his usual size. Turns out the staff member who took our instructions did not understand how much each dog needed to eat each day. Both dogs normally receive one full tube of raw meat (so two tubes are used each time we feed them). For two weeks both dogs received one half of a single tube for each meal, cutting out half of their normal feeding routine. They are way too skinny and I am concerned for their health…As much as I loved this place, I am no longer confident they can fully take care of my pets while I am out of town. I am very disappointed and upset. I hope they learn from this mistake so it doesn’t happen to some one else’s pets. UPDATE: *We gave them written instructions on how to feed our dogs. Apparently they need to type any instructions into their computer system and they did not type them in correctly. Even after we verbally explained to an employee what to do. With hand written instructions that we left with them the entire two weeks they stayed, Pet Lodge Pet Resort did not double check with my family or our notes to make sure they fully understood how to feed my dogs. The employee who checked us in seemed to be about High School age. No offense, but how can I know that my pets will receive the best care if young adults cannot even take the correct notes on the needs of my dogs? Not only is that a concern, but when we asked the employee why he was so skinny after his stay, they then decided to admit that they had been fed wrong. They said they figured it out a few days before we picked them up. Why were we not contacted immediately when they found out? Why wait until the owners noticed there was something wrong to admit their fault? How could this place say they are "Atlanta's Best Since 1978" on their website if they can't notice a dog losing weight over the course of two weeks? Even if it wasn't my dog, I would immediately notice a weight change. This is not just a mistake, my dog's health is at risk. I have read other reviews on google and yelp about Pet Lodge Pet Resort and this is not the first time a customer complained about their dogs being underfed or picking up underweight pets from this place. I now have to take my unhealthy and underweight dog to a vet to make sure we bring his weight up correctly and ensure there are no underlying health conditions we are unaware of. 11/10 would not recommend this place*

My dog has stayed here multiple times now and I have been so impressed each time! The staff is super responsive any time I’ve called with questions or to check on my dog, and you can tell how attentive they are and how much they care about all the animals in their care. Each time we have picked our dog up after staying here he’s been happy and healthy, and he’s always excited when we drop him off!

My dog has stayed here twice now and I really like them. She seems comfortable, and they love her and understand her. The place is beautiful, it looks like a resort!!

They took my dog in without notice. There was no test to qualify him to be there. The staff are warm and friendly. My little Teddy bear is excited to go, then, excited to see me in the afternoon.

Pet Lodge has been a great help with my dog needs: day care, boarding and specially for grooming services. My dog has seasonal allergies and his vet recommended a medicated shampoo. I can bring his medicated shampoo when he needs a bath. The place is beautiful, lots of space to run, pool, lots of friends to play with and the staff has always always been kind and responsive.

We boarded our 4 cats and 2 dogs at Pet Lodge for 10 days. I chose Pet lodge because I know that I can trust they take good care of our furry babies. The staff is very friendly and reliable. I called the lodge during our vacation to check up on our pets and they answered all my questions in about how everyone was doing without any problems. When I brought our pets home they were calm and happy with no issues whatsoever. This shows that they were definitely well taken care of. I highly recommend Pet Lodge Pet Resort to anyone who wants to know that their fur babies are in good hands while on vacation. We will definitely board our pets here again! Thank you!

I picked up Madison on Monday morning. Tuesday morning she was dead. Can't say if Pet Lodge had anything to do with this, but makes me wonder how she was treated there.

Oh dogs favorite place to stay. He gets so excited when we turn on the main road the lodge is on because he knows where he is going. He always has to take a look at he splash pad before when check in just to make sure it's working (we guess??). Anyways we have had no issues with the facility and the staff has always been nice and helpful! We always recommend to family and friends!

We’ve boarded our fur baby twice now and I’ve been extremely happy both times. The staff and owner are very friendly, and communicative and it’s appreciated. Our baby had NEVER been boarded before and when she was struggling the first time with her temporary stay, the staff took extra measures to make our baby comfortable. I highly recommend the Pet Lodge Resort!

Seems like a very nice place. We haven't used it yet, but we took a tour, and setup for our dog to board. Different levels of rooms/cages, plenty of room to run, have water areas, and trails.

I boarded my puppy for 9 days, and he caught pneumonia as soon as I picked him up. I gave him shower and his paws were fully drained in urine. There was lot of urine coming out while giving shower. Poor baby is still suffering with pneumonia and all his energy and food intake is gone. Never ever will go back again.

As a former employee who brought my own dog.. they are very unprofessional and do not care about your pets well being. I can not tell you how many times I have witnessed the mistreatment of the animals there. I’m talking about the cleanliness, not cleaning water bowls or changing water in between dogs or just not having water at all, slapping and kicking dogs in the face, cussing and yelling at dogs, choking them with the slip leads, literally whipping dogs with a leash, drowning dogs by spraying them with water in the bathtub, slamming kennel doors on the dog and throwing food bowls down so they have to eat off the floor. Not to mention there’s kennel cough outbreaks all the time and they will NOT tell you and if you happen to pick the the same rooms the infected dog is in they will expose your dog.The manager doesn’t hold anyone accountable for this behavior because she partakes in it, she cares more about if someone took her food. It’s an awful place run mostly by bad people. Please please take your dog somewhere else. I have also inserted a photo of one customer’s dog in the back kennel when it flooded. I cropped it for privacy but a supervisor was laughing on the side. Update: apparently that manger doesn’t work there anymore. Things might be better but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Spoke with the General Manager at Pet Lodge Pet Resorts this morning and have modified my initial response and score. Jeff was diligent in reaching out to me and letting me know that our dogs were attended to and that he was able to distinguish them from other dogs. He owned that his staff failed us in several areas. I will consider Pet Lodge Pet Resorts in the future. (Partial Initial review) We dropped off our two dogs, one 14 years olds, who was still active, despite a tumor on her right front leg and chest. I too received clearance from her vet that a week long stay should not tax her as long as she was able to walk about exercising, play outside but still get plenty of naps. We also received reassurances from the staff that they did not foresee any issues with taking care of her. The 2nd dog is 3 and very active, ball/toy obsessed and does not play with other dogs, we scheduled 3 separate activities to keep her active, with the preference being the pool time. The instructions I provided stated this and add asked that I he notified if the activities needed to be swapped out from group to private. No notes or feedback on how she did in any group play sessions and if I hadn’t of asked what the bell meant on the computer screen I would not have known that she had tried to escape. Where did she attempt to escape from? Additionally, I sent extra food, treats and meal supplements in case there was a delay in our return. Everything was gone, yet both dogs list weight! I get that you may have needed to throw away the uneaten food, but we should have been told the dogs were not eating. Given the charges for two dogs to stay at Pet Lodge, notification should have been provided - a phone call or email when a dog #1 started limping and could not get up from the ground and when you added a note that dog #2 tried to escape and had to be in an enclosure with a roof. Why were no phone calls made? I sent an email, left a voice mail asking for feedback and when I finally talked to someone all I got from the worker was, “oh your dogs are both sweet”. This was not either dogs first time at a kennel. When I dropped the dogs off, dog #1 was walking slowly but not limping. I would really like to know what happened.

Trip to Alpharetta from Charlotte and our Cairn Terrier needed some exercise. Website description of open areas and trails sold me. Wow, immaculate facility, friendly and outdoor area for dogs was best I've seen anywhere! And the best part is that your first visit is free. I want to move to Alpharetta just because of this facility!

To make a long painful story as short as possible…. My 2 dogs were recently boarded for a week. I have taken them to this same facility in the past with no issues that we are aware of. The below is our experience with the oldest of our 2 dogs, a 15 year old Shepard mix, on our most recent visit. Older dog (15 years) large breed – Hard of hearing, sight not great, weak back legs, arthritis, etc.. Otherwise generally normal old dog; eats well, enjoys getting rubbed on, etc… but for sure has lost a lot of pep. Due to her being older and having more needs we get the ok from the boarding facility in advance. They say it is a non-issue and they can handle older dogs, no problem. This is reassuring and we proceed with our trip. We purchased a harness for the rear legs to assist the staff if needed. Dog has difficulty getting up on hard surfaces. We advised that we purchased purely for them to use if they need it. (We just lift her up by hand at home if needed) It is not permanent attire like a collar. It was to be removed after each use assuming they needed to use it. Staff took notes. My assumptions are: 1) They would use the harness(if needed) and it would be removed after each use. 2) They would put a mat on the concrete floor for comfort and to make it easier for her to get up rather than straight concrete. 3) Everything else would go as usual ( no issues ) Called during the trip to advise we are coming home early and to schedule the baths in advance of our early arrival. I inquired about the status of our oldest to see if things were all going well. The staff looked in the notes and no notes were in the file so the assumption is everything is good. Pick up – No notes, everything must have been good. After check out, they brought out the harness that had been chewed off by our 15 year old dog. This is news to me after asking if there were issues and getting told no. They left it on and she chewed if off out of discomfort. They offered to purchase a new one and apologized. Got home (15 minute drive home from boarding) – we noticed Our 15 year old’s right front leg had doubled in size, smelled of urine and discoloration on the hind quarters ( poop or diarrhea maybe) . Gave the dog another bath, noticed a front swollen leg/elbow. It was doubled in size. She was showing obvious signs of discomfort, etc… She would not eat anything ( bacon, steak, nothing at all) This dog is a food eating machine and would never turn away bacon or steak being placed in her mouth. Not eating is a huge red flag Took her to vet. After about 5 days with no progress made, had to make a very difficult decision. My take away - I have issues with the lack of notes and info. What do they consider noteworthy? Do they even look or pay attention? Dog chewed off harness – No notes? Why not? Did she lay in discomfort for 3-4 nights until finally chewing it off, did she chew it off the first night?(hopefully) Why was it left on in the first place? Leg doubled in size – no notes? Didn’t notice? Don’t pay attention? I cannot say for certain that she didn’t eat while she was there but I highly doubt it based on what I experienced when I got her home. I think it is common for some dogs to not eat or eat sparingly due to the stress of being boarded. Seems note worthy to me. For example – ate all, some or none of the food… Seems like a standard entry one would expect. I don’t believe any of the above was done with malicious intent. I have to assume they genuinely care for animals. Why would you be in this business if you didn’t? In my opinion, the staff is – Poorly trained, understaffed, over booked or mis managed. There is a large divide between the perceived care and actual care received.

I boarded 4 of my pups there for the 1st time this weekend & im so happy I found this place! As a previous manager of a boarding facility I have high expectations & know what to look for. One of mine was signed up for the private play time, bc zbss older & gets cranky in group play, & she’s been sleeping since we got home. Which makes me so incredibly happy because you never know with one on one time how much attention your pup will get but clearly she got just as much as the others, they are all pooped! Cant wait to bring them back!

I took my puppy in to test for daycare. What a beautiful place for dogs... some of my questions that were left unanswered in my face to face were responded to my Jeff giving me a call. I love it that they follow up with their clients .
