Professional, compassionate and kind. We have always had such good experiences with Blue Pearl for our cat and are grateful they are there when we need them.

Blue Pearl was excellent, from the staff, size of the facility, expertise, and cleanliness we were all around pleased with our visit. Vivian, Talia, Dr.Stone, Lizzy, and everyone else we encountered throughout our time there were beyond pleasant and made us feel like they genuinely wanted to be at work and help all the animals that were brought in. They did an excellent job of explaining how our dog was doing while she was in the back, what they were able to diagnose, and what would happen going forward. Thank you very much for all yalls hard work and dedication, while expensive, we would 100% bring our dogs back in case of an emergency situation.

No surprise they don’t have the option to review this place on Facebook. I had always heard bad things about this place so I avoided it until 2 days ago when I took my sweet baby here. I had gone to another emergency vet (Veterinary emergency group) and they took amazing care of my boy and I never had to leave his side. Unfortunately, he needed surgery that they couldn’t do and had to refer me to this dump. When I got there, they took him back for obviously literally no reason since they didn’t even touch his fluid bag. While they still had him back there, Dr. Hannah Stone came into the room basically telling me that I should just put him down. She wouldn’t listen to anything I was saying about their information being wrong (they thought my name was Elaine and my dog was much older) and kept giving me runaround answers. After I not so politely asked her to get out of the room, I still didn’t have my baby with me. More time went on until my husband eventually asked them to bring him to me. Dr Stone then came back telling me that to have surgery, he would need to be stabilized overnight and it would be around $4,000. We said “okay no problem”. BUT she refused to stabilize him unless we could come up for the cost of the night plus the surgery. We didn’t have $12,000 upfront and asked if we could just pay them to stabilize him and then we would have the rest by morning. They would not do it. They wouldn’t touch him unless we gave them the entire amount. Meanwhile, my baby was struggling to breathe and nobody would help him. I took him back to VEG and found out that in our file from Blue Pearl, it said we told them we couldn’t afford the surgery. We never said we couldn’t afford it. We asked them to help him and let us bring the rest the next day. I spent hours at this place without him even getting his fluids, oxygen and antibiotics and who knows if he would have started to get better had we started stabilizing him sooner. I will never forgive this place and I will make it my life’s mission to make sure no other pet has to suffer because of them. I lost hours of precious time because of them. They DO NOT care about your pet. It’s all about money to them. If you need an emergency vet, please go to VEG and if your angel needs surgery… look for someone else to do it. My sweet boy died in my arms early yesterday morning. I just wish they had cared enough to help him.

DO NOT GO HERE (highly unethical): Absolutely horrible and we are disgusted by the lying, pressure, and price gouging of pet owners who are desperate for emergency care of their animals-- AKA being good pet caretakers. We brought our cat in for breathing issues due to a mass in his throat, likely a rapid development in a thyroid issue we have been managing with our vet. We were quoted $3000-$3500 dollars for overnight care "or he will likely die." They insisted we had to do lung x-rays that were totally unneccesary ($700-- which is a ridiculous price you will find nowhere else but a corporate vet's office like this)... they were even contradicting themselves and saying his lungs were fine and there was a mass in his throat. Makes sense, right? The truly HORRIFIC finding was that everyone in the parking lot was getting the same quote for very different services, some very minor and some more urgent. The same even numbers. Seems $3,000 is the admission price for compassionate care for your pet. (I saw the their workroom and your animals are in cold cages crying). They then said he needed to stay overnight so they could do an ultrasound and biopsy, but suddenly if we wanted to take him home until that time, to not pay for $3k in unneeded overnight care where they would do nothing other than what would happen at home, suddenly that time they would do the ultrasound and biopsy in the morning disappeared and we'd have to wait 11 days-- for a cat that can hardly breath. Sounds very legitimate. Next, I ask about prednisone to help get him through the night to which they react as if it would kill him, again pressuring us to do the $3k overnight care. We said we did not want to and we just want the steroid. They made this sound like we would kill him, even though a vet had given him a steroid injection the night before to get us through to seeing our vet that day (surprise: he didn't die and actually was doing well till the time we could bring him in). We get home, give him the prednisone we demanded, and he finally ate food without having breathing trouble, and another update: has yet to die from a steroid. After calling vet offices today I mentioned the pushback they gave me on the steroid and said that made no sense because a steroid is the exact right approach to keeping a cat from suffocating from a potential tumor or any obstruction. Steroids are commonly used in the treatment of cancers and general inflammation. This is an unethical corporate vet chain that forces and convinces you to pay thousands or your animal will die and any options other than giving them all this money for potentially unnecessary treatment is wrong. You can't ask questions without getting an answer that spins it back to...as many things as they could possibly charge you for. Places like this should be regulated. DO NOT PREY ON DESPERATE PEOPLE. I will continue to inform as many people as I can on how horrible and manipulative this place is. Truly, truly disgusting. I cannot even think of enough negative words to describe how nearly evil this is. None of these people should be working in veterinary medicine with such lack of care or basic compassion, or even basic integrity. The perfect money machine. DO TRY: Fetch or Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care Center. I am deeply sorry to anyone who has fallen into their trap. You made the right decision to keep your pets healthy, the shame in on this place. There is a special place in hell for people like this. UPDATE 01/01/2022 (w/ pic): alive and well despite the incompetence of this place! Seems I somehow know better emergency medicine than the "veterinarians" at this Crematorium Emporium™. If Blue Pearl took care of him, this fluffy boy (see: pic) would be dusty mound. Go to Fetch.

We were referred to take our baby Dalia Singh to blue pearl by Lake side animal hospital . When I read mixed reviews of blue pearl I was hesitant to take my dog there. I took chance and met Dr Lee as I met her I could feel I am at right place.I have no words to thank Dr Lee for her true advise and the way she handled the whole situation.Tho our baby had to be put to sleep so that she don’t get more pain.Blue Pearl could bill me thousands of dollars and I would have paid them. But Dr lee was honest with us with her advise.Tho I will not keep any more pet bcs when you loose them it becomes very depressing. I will recommend this place to others. Thanks to staff and Dr lee for great job and consoling us at this sad time.

My visit here ended up feeling more like an experience with a car salesman. The vet that “treated” my cat wouldn’t even give her the first dosage of antibiotics and pain medication before I picked her up even after I asked her to. For $360 I think it should at the very least include that. I will make sure and try my best to never bring any of my pets here in the future.

This review is solely based on my very first phone call to this establishment. I was referred here by my vet to have an ultrasound done on my pup so I called to get a price quote. Whoever I spoke to was rude and condescending. 800 bucks for an ultrasound "due to the price increase" is all she kept saying. I asked if they offered payment plans (this is my first time my pet has issues like this so I figured I'd ask) and she scoffed and was like " uhhh no we don't". Really? I just hung up and found a better place for 300 dollars cheaper.Reading the reviews I'm glad I did. I would've shelled out the 800 too if the lady wasn't so rude.

The staff and veterinarians at BluePearl were all wonderful when we recently had a medical emergency with our dog. They were responsive and kind and my family greatly appreciated all of their efforts.

Apparently it's my responsibility to automatically know how long specialist appointments are here. I was never told how much time to expect to spend here with my cat for her initial visit so I assumed it would be a simple quick chat and drop off SINCE I HAD NO EXPECTATION SET FOR ME BY THIS PRACTICE. I was under the impression her information and x-rays had been provided to Blue Pearl by my regular vet thus simplifying the appointment. Morning of the appointment I find out it's an hour to an hour and a half. Time I don't have today for an appointment I waited over a month to get. They tried to turn it around on ME for assuming the appointment would be shorter and involve a drop off. I'm sorry it's not my job to inform patients of what the visit entails. People need to plan their day. Setting an expectation is very important for something someone has never done before and people have jobs believe it or not that they have to get to.. Also very disorganized and it takes forever to get someone on the phone to even talk about scheduling. UPDATE: I see your reply but that doesn't address that fact you didn't tell me how much time I would have to spend there. People have to plan their days. I was given the impression from my regular vet it would be more simple than that. The tone and attitude I got from the receptionist I spoke to is what set me off and made me upset. The only other time I have spent at Blue Pearl was for an emergency, which obviously was a very long appointment since it was an emergency, and then later on, oncology appointments which were almost always drop offs for her chemo infusions. Either way I will be avoiding Blue Pearl from now on.

Really appreciate meeting Dr. Wilson (by phone from car) and Vet Tech Brianna (in person at car). Received wealth of information and additional knowledge about Cushing's disease related to allergies, and vice-versa. Did not have to wait. …

My dog Maisy was struck by a car early Tuesday morning. After being stabilized at our vets clinic, she was transported down to the Blue Pearl Emergency Pet Hospital. From the moment of our arrival and on, Maisy (and I) were treated with such compassion and care. Thank you so much for all the love, compassion and care that you all gave to Maisy. It made being apart from her during your testing and treatment easier to bear knowing she was loved and cared for so well. I can’t imagine having to do what y’all do every day; standing by while families determine whether they can afford the needed care and accepting with grace, their decisions. In human healthcare it is more uncommon to have financial discussions at the time of decision makings- y’all handled these delicate topics with grace and compassion. I so appreciated being able to stay with her on Wednesday knowing it’s often not ideal to have family at bedside. I felt so much better being with her. Thank you Jamin, Lizbet, Pearl, Dr Schneck, Dr Reems, Dr Van Erde, Dr Bowen, and finally Dr Yim who handled her exit from our world with the utmost care and compassion. If I left out any names, I do apologize. It was an emotional time❤️????

If I could give you zero stars I would. Dear vet tech Ashley with green hair (because they wouldn’t tell me a last name and I know there are multiple Ashleys) and “eight years of cardiac experience”, I would like to inform you that the same cat that you told me I would “spend thousands on and he’d still die anyway”… he lived. I feel so sorry for the next family that ends up in your “care”. Blue Pearl, do better. Be a little softer to other human beings in very stressful situations in the ER. Also, stop allowing techs to run the show. Most especially if they treat your clients like garbage. We pay to speak with and work with licensed veterinarians who went to school for YEARS to give medical advice. Such a shame. There was a time Blue Pearl in Tampa was so helpful. Not sure what has happened…

Let me preface my review noting that Blue Pearl Pet Hospital situated in North Tampa is a 24/7 veterinary hospital staffed by many dozens of veterinarians and technicians with expertise in all areas. Staffing such a place does not come cheap, so of course, expect a hefty cost for services. That said, our pets are family and worthy of the best care possible, and in that regard Blue Pearl provides. In mid-2021 our cat's primary veterinarian removed what seemed to be a cyst from her back, but from biopsy, it turned out to be cancer. We learned it was a particularly aggressive form of cancer and that radiation therapy was the recommended treatment. The surgery and diagnosis were devastating. Fortunately, our veterinarian did his diligence and got us in contact with Dr. Dominguez at Blue Pearl. On initial appointment, Dr. Dominguez met us (outside due to COVID) along with another DVM, went over the initial analysis, and then had our cat complete a 3D CT scan. Following this, he and his colleague went over options and provided printed, detailed invoices. These included palliative care and "definitive" (let's nuke it) radiation treatments. We opted for the definitive treatment, and am glad we did. The process was a true slog. Driving from our place near Sarasota all the way to North Tampa every weekday morning for a month was daunting. However, the staff at Blue Pearl was fantastic. They easily accommodated our cat when overnight boarding was the best option due to work schedules, were upbeat, and mostly prompt. Note, the place was very busy. The parking lot was often packed, and I spotted license plates from as far away as Orlando, Jacksonville, and Georgia (Florida per the counties on the plates). That people from so far come to this veterinary hospital is a testament to their being among the best in Florida. After a very long and stressful month, I am happy to note our cat's cancer appears to have been felled. She's super happy and there are no signs of the tumor returning. What was devastating news turned out to be something we got through. Yes, Blue Pearl is pricey. But, the joy I have from our cat being here with us for another holiday season overwhelms that cost. I have no regret in working with Blue Pearl and am especially grateful for Dr. Dominguez and the entire oncology team. They are experts beyond compare and are doing wonderful work. They have given us something priceless - more times to embed wonderful memories with our cat. If you have a pet of any kind who needs unique treatment or want the very best healthcare available, Blue Pearl is it for the Tampa Bay and Central Florida region. Highly recommended.

Your establishment is a complete and utter joke. All you see is dollar signs on every pet that walks through those front doors. Your vet tech by the name of Ashley is rude and incompetent and the fact that there is zero continuity of care between the emergency vet and primary vet is shameful. Shut this place down. P.S. don’t bother writing a “we are so sorry”, “our deepest condolences”, etc. because that is a load of you know what…

The Radiation Oncology team at BluePearl, including Dr. Dominguez are extremely knowledge, professional, empathetic, and kind. I was unfortunately surprised by a cancer diagnosis for my cat a couple of months ago. I was able to get her into Blue Pearl radiation oncology specialists in less than a week for a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Once the diagnosis came back, my cat's prognosis was grim, 1-3 months without treatment. Dr. Dominguez and the radiation oncology staff at Blue Pearl got my cat into radiation treatment (the only viable option in her condition) right away. After 6 radiation treatments over three weeks, her tumor has shrunk significantly, she has her personality back, and is eating and drinking again. Although this is a temporary alleviation from her cancer, I am so appreciative of all the work Dr. Dominguez and the Blue Pearl radiation oncology team have done to give me some more time with my baby girl. Thank you so much.

Yesterday night. My 19 years old cat couldn't walk because of a injury. For the advace age and previously medical condition. my little baby did not have more option, I must accepted the euthanasia. The staff was very kind, they did as much as possible to reduce the pain. They gave us all time we need to said good bye. Very honest, sweet and profesional in the circunstances. Maybe it not the cheaper place, but they did all possible to don't make my baby suffer. It does not have a price. Thanks

I was sorry to see that a lot of the negative reviews had to do with the cost. They are not vets, they are specialists and surgeons where you take your pet when it’s bigger than your vet. They are the ones who made my dog walk again. Or give your cat 5 more years. Now my dog needs another surgery. She’s only walking on 3 legs. When she’s released from BluePearl after her surgery she’ll be walking on 4 legs and I’ll get more years with her. I would pay twice their bill to get more time with her. That’s what they give at a reasonable price. Everyone is very professional and caring. Could never thank them enough.

Run people they had my cat for 4 hours and did nothing Dade City animal clinic sent us here and said she needed emergency surgery. When I got there no surgeon was there. They also needed to send the x rays to a different vet to look at and the hole time the 20 something did not have a clue. I could tell she did not know what she was doing. Listen if you go here they will rip you off and good chance the will kill your pet. Run people don’t go here. This place is ran by 20 year old kids that will lie. Responding to the response you posted I guess seeing how you have a 3.1 approval as of 11/29/21 just proves how you company just cant tell the truth and you are just training liars and ripping off artistes. Futhur more everyone I talk to says this place is a horror story.

You better have deep pockets of you go here. Its very disturbing to see how much they charge for everything. You would think they would want to help people and their animals with more affordable care. It's not like they don't make money. Not everyone is rich. To have to pick and choose what they do is sad. The internist here isn't any better than a regular vet and doesn't have much knowledge beyond typical issues. Let's face it, the veterinary world is nothing but for profit. It's never truly about the care of the animals.

A practice of money hungry fake experts. They consistently recommend unnecessary surgeries that they can coincidently schedule next day. They completely exploit the fears of animal parents.

Unfortunately had to come in on a weekend. Poor level of care, forgot to start medication for our pet for hours after we paid for the care and since you can't go inside there is no way to know if they are actually doing anything. Prior to payment, I was told that they would start working on our pet right away, made the payment and after sitting in the car for several hours under the assumption that what I was told is true, someone came out to let me know that they will be starting medication. This is after telling me that this medication was needed right away. Takes an hour to 2 to get the doctor to answer your questions. Emotionally exhausting during a difficult time, prices kept changing without a decent explanation, it was not a small change but a 10 fold change. Since you can't go inside, you sit in your car, which is not a problem, but you can't leave the grounds to get food or go to the bathroom. Had to beg someone to let me inside to use the bathroom. Keep in mind that I was sitting there for hours,, can't imagine how someone with health issues would be able to handlebthat. After taking our pet to the vet with a list of diagnosis and procedures required, he was shocked that they would propose such a high level of unnecessary testing.

Blue Pearl truly only cares about money. It is disgusting that they gain your trust only to gain profit. At a time when you are vulnerable and desperate for answers they manipulate you into spending an unnecessary amount of money. Go anywhere else for your pet’s sake.

Dr. Coyle and her nurse in the oncology department were so amazing to us and our baby during a very difficult time. Unfortunately, they were unable to help our sweet Baxter due to the type of cancer he had, but we are so appreciative of the care we were given during our appointment. They thoroughly explained everything to us and we were grateful to have them provide us with a second/real opinion since our vet failed us. Dr. Coyle is very knowledgeable and we trusted her expertise. They provided us with ways to keep him comfortable with pain meds, an appetite stimulant, ointment, and even fed him during his appointment. They even gifted us the food. They also called after the appointment to check on how he was doing. Even though we were devastated, we were happy with the compassion and care we were given. Thank you so much Dr. Coyle and her nurse. We will recommend you to anyone.
