Dr. Casey was knowledgeable and friendly. Abbey was genuinely invested in understanding my concerns and assuring me that we would get everything taken care of.

I’ve taken all of my cats to Southgate Animal Hospital and they have always been wonderful. Today I took Willow (pictured here with her fiancé Zeus) for her annual exam. Dr. Glass, Abbey, Joyce and Angelina were incredibly friendly, helpful, the price can’t be beat and professional. Willow is happy and healthy and I’m sure she will be for years to come.

Angelina provided exceptional customer service today and went above and beyond to calm my nerves and made something happen to benefit our appointment because she chose to get up and go ask. Dr.Casey is the best all around. I fully trust her.

I called over 20 vets in the surrounding area and no one would look at our bird. Dr. Casey and the staff at Southgate Animal Hospital were the only ones who stepped up to the plate. The got us in fast and were thorough in the examination room. The fact that this vet saw our pet chicken when no one else would and the nearest avian vet would make me wait 7days for an emergency appointment, I can soundly say Dr. Casey and her responsive team saved our beloved pet and gave her immediate pain relief as well. I can’t thank them enough! Dr. Casey also saw that my daughter was interested in being a vet someday and encouraged her with loving words and offered her to come shadow her when she’s ready! I think this speaks volumes about the kind of person/doctor Dr. Casey is. Thank you Southgate Animal Hospital for a wonderful and helpful experience!

My 8 year old beagle, Betsy had started throwing up and having diaherra during Christmas weekend. We're new to Sarasota, and a friend recommended Southgate Animal Hospital. My experience was great--beginning with the phone conversation with Joyce who got us scheduled this morning. Our vet tech, Kristi was wonderful with Betsy and she was able to explain the possible costs involved and procedures that Dr McNamee recommended after her evaluation. Dr McNamee was professional, but caring at the same time. She took her time and told me all of the options for treatment, and gave me the choice on how to proceed. Thankful we have found a new vet for Betsy :)

Great experience at Southgate Animal Hospital! Our puppy Juno has had an undiagnosed, lingering injury for the past month and after discussing with our close friend, Angelica Munoz, she recommended Dr. Casey due to her extensive experience with orthopedic injuries. When I called to schedule an appointment, they had us scheduled the following day! During our visit, Dr Casey provided a diagnosis and detailed treatment plan which was reassuring since we had no idea how the injury occurred. She was knowledgeable and professional. From being greeted by Joyce, to Alyssa the technician assisting with Juno, and Angelica keeping Juno comfortable and me updated through the appointment and diagnostics, it was a comforting experience knowing Juno was in good hands. While we live 30 mins away, Southgate Animal Hospital will be our #1 choice for Juno #goldendoodle

New to town, we were warmly welcomed to Southgate Animal Hospital when we needed same day service for our dog. Dr. Glass spent extra time educating me about caring for a pet in the South. I was impressed that she spent the entire visit on the floor, petting and getting to know our dog while speaking with me. All of the staff, including the vet tech Sam, and Joyce at the front desk were warm, caring and thorough despite a very busy day. A follow up text the next day checking on our pet was appreciated!

I can't recommend Southgate Animal Hospital highly enough! My senior kitty was just diagnosed with early chronic kidney disease but the advice and suggestions I received from my previous vet led me to seek a second opinion (and I'm so glad I did!). Joyce greeted me when I arrived and she was incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming and my VetTech Alyssa was very gentle and very knowledgeable. Dr. Glass explained my kitty's previous blood work results, suggested a care plan going forward, and spent the extra time I needed to fully understand my cat's prognosis and needs. Angelica was so helpful as she assisted me with check out and I was delighted to discover that my visit was free (all new patients receive a free initial exam- so generous!). I feel so relieved to have found a team who can support my kitty through his final life stage and am grateful they're so conveniently located next to my home.

I trust Southgate with my fur baby, so when my sister’s dog injured her paw and her vet couldn’t get her in, I knew I could rely on Southgate to help. Angelica was awesome and got me in the same day. When I came in, Joyce, Kat, and Angelica greeted me warmly and tried to befriend my sister’s dog. She is very anxious at the vet, but everyone kept trying to make her comfortable. Dr. Glass and Samantha were very professional in their care and were so helpful answering my questions. Samantha even got her to eat a treat even though she was so nervous! Thank you, Southgate!

We absolutely LOVE Southgate Animal Hospital! We have been bringing our furbabies here for years and are continuously impressed with the service and genuine care we receive. The staff and doctors here make you feel like family and treat your animals as if they are their own! Everyone who works here is so kind and no matter how busy they may be, they make sure to thoroughly explain everything to you and listen to you carefully. Last week, our cats Shabba and Grace suddenly stopped eating and were puking and Southgate got us in that same day and took AMAZING care of them. They are both healthy now and I even got a phone call today just to check up on them and see how they were doing. Thank you to everyone at this vet office, can't rave enough about you! :)

Southgate Animal Hospital is AMAZING! I had been trying to find a vet for my sweet pup that felt like a good fit for us both-- and this is definitely it! The entire experience was so great. We were greeted warmly by Joyce at the front desk & checked in for our appointment promptly. I immediately noticed & appreciated the unique artwork on the doors & walls and found out later one of the girls in the office was the artist. You can really feel the love & intention in the whole space and there were extra touches (like the Keurig in the lobby) that I had never experienced at a vets office before. Kristi-- our Tech was SO knowledgable, kind, and patient as I went over my pups medical history as well as my current concerns. She went above & beyond to make sure we got everything we needed-- including a quoted price for the visit. The prices are SO fair & the care we received was top tier! Dr. Casey is so sweet & a true professional in her field. She is an absolute animal lover & whisperer. My pup enjoyed the entire process & didn't even flinch during her treatment. It is so great to find an animal hospital that truly cares for animals as well as pet parents. So grateful to have found Southgate Animal Hospital!

I accidentally brought my dog Joey in a day early for his annual physical. Within 10 minutes they managed to squeeze us in. We've been clients for well over 10 years have never been let down.

We’ve been parents of doggie patients Mocca, Seven, Blue, Bosco, Baileys, Pearl, Ruby, and Mina. Quality and caring personnel have kept us coming back for over 30 years.

My dog and I love this place. Dr.Casey is very gentle with him. The receptionists Joyce & Angelica are very informative and could answer all my questions.They all have a lot of empathy and it feels like family….also they’re very friendly and kind. He is never afraid to go inside, like we had with other vets before. I can highly recommend this place!!

I originally went to SouthGate to get treatment for 3 bottle fed kittens. Paid $600 to treat 3 kittens with URI. A few weeks later, one of the kittens is apparently dying from an URI that was “treated” by SouthGate. Now it’s another $700 for a stray kitten. I’m just frustrated because I took him in for treatment, left with a huge bill, and now he’s in another emergency clinic dying from the same thing he was “treated” for.

We have 3 dogs who are 7, 11 and 13 years old. 2 dachshunds and 1 greyhound. Every time I call the office, they are very accommodating and responsive. We have had some small emergencies lately with them, which required us to be seen the same day. Each time we were able to get in the same day and quite quickly. Everyone from the front desk to the staff in the back and the Doctors are so very kind and spend as much time with us to understand the issues we are experiencing and are very good at explaining procedures and medicines, instructions for go home, etc. It has been a great experience and we are very satisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me begin by saying Dr. Casey is a gem and actually did surgery on my dog during the pandemic. Another vet in town was not hearing my concerns. I sent my dog into Southgate with a tech to a vet I had never met, when the covid numbers were so high that I could not go in. The care I received just hearing the techs care and then Dr. Casey's reassuring voice through her professional demeanor over the phone, allowed me to send Luna in for her surgery knowing she was in good hands. Not only is Dr. Casey competent in her ability as a vet, but she the the ability to understand the emotions related to a sick dog and that made all the difference! This week I returned with Luna and finally got to meet Dr. Casey and many more of the staff members. Southgate has some adorable kittens for adoption. Five years ago, I lost my cat, Patches who was 19 years old and I realize I have never totally recovered....perhaps we don't ...we just remember. I met one of the kittens up for adoption and fell in love, but was hesitant. Joyce, Christine, Angelica all participated in my decision to adopt and so I'll be bringing the kitten (Nova) home on Monday. Hoping and trust Luna and Nova will become great friends. The most important part of this review is to credit Southgate Animal Hospital as truly being a "team" place where you can tell every staff member loves animals, animal owners, and the furry patients they serve. Dr. Casey, Joyce, Christine, and Angelica all make a great team along with many others including Cat who answers the phone.

My puppy Atticus was very nervous for his 1st grooming. Kristi was brilliant and suggested he come in for a few practice groomings. After only two practice runs Atticus is ready to graduate to a full grooming. Kristi not only gives a great cut but her love for animals really shines. Angelica has also been kind and sweet to Atticus. Leaving him in her care I know he will get all the cuddles he needs to feel at home. I have no worries leaving Atticus at Southgate Animal Hospital as I know he will be treated with love and respect during his visit.

This is by far the best animal hospital/vet in Sarasota County. They are responsive and professional but they are also very kind and compassionate. They also specialize in getting the necessary paperwork for international travelers with pets. I was particularly impressed by Kat who was so professional in every aspect of her job. I highly recommend them premier vet in Sarasota.

I had my first appointment yesterday at Southgate Animal Hospital for my one year old bully, Tuna. We had the best experience! Dr.Glass, Samantha, and the rest of the staff was awesome - super nice, friendly, patient, helpful, and answered all the questions I had. They made Tuna feel like he was their top priority! Highly recommend!

Dr Casey is Fantastic . All the staff is wonderful . When you have a sick four legged family member these people are awesome. They treat your family like their own. Thanks Southgate Animal Hospital !!!

Dr. Glass is an incredible vet and I can't thank her enough for how hard she worked to get my good boy back to perfect health. The office always has an appointment available when we need one and Dr. Glass saved my elderly cat's life, I can't thank her enough.

If you're looking for a vet who truly cares, this is the place for you. My little gal had surgery for her ACL tear and they were all wonderful. Kristi took great care of her and gave me very thorough instructions on her after care, telling me what to expect and how/when to perform the various therapies. Dr Casey did the surgery phenomenally with tech Christine and answered questions as they arose. Southgate promptly replaced staples that were chewed out by my persistent, stubborn baby who figured out how to use walls and other tools for leverage to get around her recovery collar and surgical sleeve. I will always be grateful for Southgate's high quality care and compassion. Dr Casey, Christine and Kristi have my highest recommendations!

The staff there is incredible! They were so attentive to Loki[Our puppy] and genuinely nice. The ladies that were at the front desk gave him lots of love and even took his picture for their Instagram because he is "so cute and sweet". The vet came in and she was so patient and truly listened when I explained his symptoms. I needed to stay under a specific budget as well, and they were sure to help me find a way to do that, while getting Loki the care he needed. We will absolutely be back!
