Dr. Shane Falero and the team at BluePearl Sarasota are absolutely wonderful. Our beloved Golden Retriever, almost 10 years old, suddenly became lethargic, wouldn't eat, and had trouble walking. We are snowbirds and did not know which way …

This hospital was very reliable when our pup ingested a large plastic wrapper on Christmas eve. I called beforehand, they were understanding, but said they would need to see her before recommending what to do, which would cost a 100 something. Being that it was 10pm, there wasn't a soul, but because of covid, a vet assistant met us outside to take her in, and asked if they could induce vomiting if needed. They were able to retrieve the wrapper and returned her in what felt like 15 minutes, they were very kind with her. Cost under 300, I was in shock as most hospitals somehow charge 1000 for an emergency visit no matter what. We're thinking it's because no surgery had to be done - lesson learned take your dog to the hospital immediately if they ate something they shouldn't. She was a little tired the next day, and has been perfectly fine since. We're grateful we had a trustworthy option nearby. Our family dogs have each been here once for similar emergencies, and they really take care of them.

Had a late night emergency with our puppy and they were able to see us immediately. They made sure to explain everything throughougly and made us feel at ease during a stressful time. Dr. Oliver was very kind and made sure our puppy got the best care fast. Thank you for the great care!!

Staff was friendly but the veterinarians couldn't seem to agree with what was wrong with my dog and didn't know how to communicate properly. I took my dog to Blue Pearl as an emergency as my dog seemed to have suffered a seizure which has never happened before. The first veterinarian to see him said that he most likely ate something toxic and that they will need to keep him overnight and do some blood work periodically to keep track of his condition. The next morning I get a call from the veterinarian letting me know that my dog is doing much better and that another veterinarian is taking over his case as her shift had ended. That was the had call I received from Blue Pearl until I decided to call them around 1:30pm since I was a nervous wreck and worried about my dog's status. The receptionist told me that it was normal to only get a call in the morning and one late in the evening. Personally I am not ok with that policy as I suffer from anxiety and do not like it when I'm not aware of what is going on. I finally get a second call from the other veterinarian at 4:45pm only for him to tell me that my dog needs to stay another night and has to be seen a neurologist when I was told by the first veterinarian that he would be fine in 24 hours. I told him that I couldn't afford to keep my dog there another day and e said fine but that I needed to make sure that he got some more blood work done and to see a neurologist. The facility also did not properly explained their fees so I was left wondering why they wanted to charge me $2,000 more when I had already paid $3,000. Needless to say that the staff need to communicate better with each other and their customers.

Came in with my dog as a transfer for an unknown potential snake bite. They gave her a coagulation test which came back normal thankfully. They were friendly and extremely busy. They ask that you wait in your vehicle which I did and I took the initiative to call and get a status update since I know the test would only take 45 minutes according to the Dr. I will be using them again if need be.

BluePearl came as a referral from my primary vet, based on my cat's complex condition. I drove 45 minutes to be there and it was worth it. They took down an excellent history assessment of my cat, shared their expert knowledge and offered the best professional recommendations based on his particular case. They were also very lovely to the cat. They advised the best examination and ongoing treatment options, including nutrition. The current check-in process of waiting in the car park is very slow (30 minute wait) and needs revision. But I don't want to end on a bad note. The doctors and staff are exceptional and do a wonderful job. They did not try to ram expensive procedures or after care down my throat. I really felt that they were doing what was best for the cat. I would highly recommend them to anyone with a beloved pet requiring specialist attention.

I have gone to blue pearl and appreciate the doctors that work there. I called Blue Pearl to let them know my dog was in need of lasix as we have been though the situation a few times before and have gone to blue pearl where she received lasix injections. They rejected my dog when she needed help. They said they were at max capacity and told me they would not be taking anymore animals the rest of the night. I do understand the situation…..I was hoping that being that my dog would need just a quick injection as in the past, that she would be able to maybe run in and out or maybe if something possibly opened up. They told me to go to another location…..the locations are one hour to an hour and a half away, when I live 5 minutes from the Sarasota location. They told me that they didn’t have oxygen….I stated that my dog didn’t need oxygen because her tongue and gums are pink….the receptionist said that even if her tongue is pink she could still need…..well the confused me because in the past I was told by the technician at blue pearl previously to check her tongue and that if it was pink the she was getting oxygen….so now I’m not sure what information between the receptionist or the previous technician was in fact true or false. I understand that they have many animals but the front desk women made an assumption and rejected my dog….the second receptionist sounded passive aggressive….fake nice…lacked compassion or any understanding that my dog may need a shot of lasix as Doctor Oliver has done for her before. It was def pretty shocking how cold they felt….I have done so much for my dog….I’ve spent so much money at blue pearl and to get rejected completely and not even say well let me see if anything opens up and we can contact you or hey try calling us back in a few hours and we can see if something opens up……kindness! There was no trying there was no actual empathetic care. That’s what bothers me more…it was just…this is how it is too bad and go to the other location….. 1:30 am go drive the hour and bye…..I wonder what would have happened if I never called before and just showed up….would they have rejected me too….Dr. Oliver and the other vets were always great….and I’m grateful for the vets. I plan to call Blue Pearl Corporate to talk about the experience….the lack of compassion from the two receptionists just turned me off completely from this place.

Nice and capable people but terrible communication. My dog had a cut on her foot. I waited in my car for an hour. I called and asked the status. They said they had an emergency come in and to go home, they’d call when she was done. I didn’t understand why didn’t tell me that earlier but ok, I get it. I waited at home for another hour. I Called again and they said they were just getting started on her…. This is two hours later… I asked how long it would be. They told me it would be another hour because after the procedure, my dog would have to wait there to wake up. All totally understandable however, I didn’t understand why this wasn’t communicated to me from the beginning. Had I not called I would still be sitting in my car three hours later wondering what was going on. I just think that’s insensitive and unprofessional. It’s just not that hard to make a phone call….

Would not bring my dog here again!! Just spent 8 hours sitting in the parking lot of this place. It took about 15 minutes from arrival for them to come out for my dog - without even knowing what the problem was and then another 20 minutes for the tech to call to find out what the problem was. After that I was told the Dr. would look at her and call us with evaluation and treatment plan in about 90 minutes. 2 1/2 hours later I called inside to get a status since I had no contact during that time. I was told they had a critical case, but my dog was next. Called again 2 hours later and was told again critical case, we were next. There were a number of others waiting in their cars and we all felt we were not getting updates or what our status was and in discussion found we had all called inside to all be told our pet was next in line! Closing in on 8 hours, one of the techs came out to talk to one of the recent arrivals and we questioned her about each of our status. When I spoke with her, I found out that the procedure that we needed done on our dog is not done on the weekend (ultrasound) If we left her there till Monday when they could do the procedure it would be $1,000 - $1500 per day in addition to the test, etc on Monday. They had not yet evaluated her. We wasted an entire day, subjected our dog to 8 hours of laying in a cage without ever being examined and got no further in finding out why she is sick. This is not how our pets should be treated and not how an Emergency Facility should be running, We pulled our dog out of there and traveled to another Emergency Vet Facility and within 2 hours, she had been seen, evaluated, and treatment plan determined and in process - with face to face contact with those treating her. The way it should be.

Editing to add my recent experience- I visited with my Parrotlet whose beak had broken off at the tip. I called about 15 minutes before I arrived to let them know we had an emergency situation. My bird was taken in for stabilization within 10 minutes of arriving. They were able to stop the bleeding, cauterize the beak to prevent the wound from reopening, and give her medicine for pain before discharge. Staff was friendly and thorough & their good attitude made it feel like I was giving my bird to people who genuinely care about helping animals. That is so important to pet owners! Thank you to the Blue Pearl team for always providing the best care for my animals when they need it most. I’ve been coming to them for about 4 years! *Photos are after we got home, of her cauterized beak. It looks like it may have even been shaped a little to properly re-grow.*

I took my pet parakeet Pepe to Blue Pearl in Sarasota in Sept. She was cared for by the Avion specialist and given oxygen and X-rays etc. and sent home with medicine which improved her condition for about two weeks. Then I brought her back as she was deteriorating again and I was told it appeared to be a heart condition which may or may not improve and they treated her again and I was given new medicine. She passed away 2 weeks later. I appreciate the care given to her but a simple phone call to check on her condition after each visit would have been nice. My regular vet always does a follow up call after a visit, no matter what, for my cat or dog. Something to think about in the future…

Our sweet guy had a serious health crisis and needed immediate hospitalization. BluePearl got him right in. Everything was explained to me in detail by the admitting Vet, and I got an outline for his care and an estimate of the cost. During his stay, they called regularly with updates on his condition. He responded so well to treatment that they were able to discharge him a day earlier than planned. Once he was home, I needed to call a few times with followup questions, and the staff was helpful and understanding. He's back home with us now, and feeling much better. They get bonus points for following common sense covid-19 protocols as well. Many offices don't! Hopefully you never need to hospitalize your pet, but if you do, you can trust BluePearl with their care. 100% recommended.

Nothing but respect for this place. My husband and I took our very sick sulcata tortoise Rainy here to see a specialist. He was in kidney failure with levels over three times the normal and had lots of other issues as well. Two surgeries later and lots of medications- The amount of support, respect and care from the entire team was astounding. While most of our friends and family didn’t understand why we were spending so much time, effort, and money on “just” a tortoise this team truly cares about him. Even us calling to ask medication questions, the receptionist asked for updates on how he was doing and was very excited and telling the whole team about his progress. We have referred several people here. Dealing with a veterinarian emergency can be terrifying and heartbreaking. Not all problems can have a positive outcome. However, you can trust this team to treat your situation with nothing but respect and love. Rainy still has a long journey, but we know the team here will be with us no matter what happens.

I did wait for a very long time to get an appointment with Dr Anja, highly recommended for my adopted blind dog. Nobody told me on the phone that I had to remain in my car and my dog gets picked up. Then I was told that Dr Anja had to attend another matter and another Vet took over. Nothing could be done for my dog and I could not even ask any questions. I have never been treated like that.

While the staff was so friendly and helpful, I wasn’t thrilled with my experience. I arrived emotional because my dog was having difficulty breathing (would go into asthma like fits), and after waiting awhile they informed me my dog could have a few different ailments. I was then charged nearly $700 for medicines and the visit, to later find that really she had just inhaled a little dirt and it was causing her difficulty breathing. She was completely fine, didn’t need the prescriptions at all. How they were unable to detect that, I don’t know. I’m a young adult and this was in the middle of the covid lockdown, so forking out $700 was not easy to do, and to know it was entirely unnecessary is a slap in the face.

Dr. Bennet and her nurses saved "Mrs. Kirby", one of our pet Indian Runner Ducks! We brought her in as an emergency ADR (ain't doing right) and her staff jumped into action with diagnostics and found the cause pretty quickly; she'd ingested a piece of rusted metal fencing and developed a type of blood poisoning. She required surgery to remove the metal right away, and would need intensive supportive care; Dr. Bennett was very clear about her chances, but delivered the news with compassion. We opted for surgery, and let me tell you that I was a nervous wreck! This was the FIRST pet surgery that I'd not be present for (retired surgical vet nurse of 21yrs), but the confidence of Dr. Bennet and her staff was comforting and I wasn't suprised when I got the call that surgery had gone well and that I could pick her up the next day.! I am forever grateful that they were there for us and have no problem making the 2hr trek again in the future, if our ducks need a specialist. Thank you again, Dr. Bennet!

My experience with Blue pearl turned into an amazing experience when I encountered Jackie. My sweet baby boy needed to come in and as his age has progressed so much I worry about him and his anxiety levels. I never felt so comfortable as when Jackie came out to help him. She made sure that he was going to be well taken care of. I have encountered several people that were pretty rude with me and lack of compassion but She was not like that at all. You can tell when people have a passion for their job and she sure does. People should take note. Thank you for taking care of my boy Jackie and making sure he was comfortable and not nervous the whole time.

Yesterday Sunday my 14 1/2 dog "Sutter Buddy" back and hips broke down. She went screaming with pain, I called Blue Pearl and spoke with a woman that was difficult to understand. With my buddy screaming I told her she needs to be put to sleep. Her reply in a very cold way said "well if she really needs to come in it maybe a 4 to 6 hour wait and if "IT" needs to be euthanized you need to pay $300 in advance!". The money wasn't the issue, it's the CARLESS of this operation and I would not let anyone touch my buddy that has no care! I was able to solve our problem with out someone like that.

Took my cat Frankie here tonight. Jessica was extremely patient, kind and helpful. The Dr. helped to explain in detail about his diagnosis. I would recommend taking your beloved pets here. They truly helped me in my time of need.

First off my dog had an emergency because he was choking and they told us we had to wait 3hours! Keep in mind my dog was choking, anything could happen in just 3hours. It's a horrible place.

They definitely have some type of bias against each animal. I have been here a handful of times. Out of those times, I’ve had two bad experiences. I have guinea pigs and I could tell the difference in service when in comes to them. The staff here has been kind only when it comes to money. It seems like you can never get a hold of one of the vets or even get answers. You get your “answer” when you bring your pet in and pay the expensive fee. I brought one of my guinea pigs in for a deep cut and was prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics. On the 4th day I ran out, I was doing everything the instructions said to do. I called Thursday morning, I was told the ER vet I saw wasn’t in and they would rely the message back to the one on call when she had the time. It’s been two days, I’ve called them multiple times and have gotten the same response . They suggest bringing him in…why would I do that if all I need is more antibiotics. I just spent a lot the first time….why would I spend more for them not to help. I understand they are busy but so am I. He isn’t on antibiotics for fun, I’m trying to prevent infection. In the two days he’s been off of the antibiotics, it has swelled up with pus. I have tried my best to clean it. It’s ridiculous that I have to go through this much effort to reach someone for a 5-10 minute phone call. This is the second time I’ve encountered this situation with them. Most likely I have to spend a lot more for this infection that could’ve easily been avoided.

Absolute money grabbers. They don’t care about your pets they just want as much money from you as possible I took my dog here because he wasn’t breathing right THEY WANTED TO PUT HIM DOWN. They charged me 300 and wanted 7k for the surgery and him having a likely hood of not surviving. This was in the middle of the night but I said screw that I took my dog to my vet I usually go with he turned out COMPLETELY FINE. All he had was something in his throat they gave him oxygen and medicine and he was fine didn’t even cost me more that 50$. This place is absolutely horrible I don’t know how you live with yourself knowing you work here.

It was 11pm and my dog wasn’t acting right. I called two emergency vets. One (in North Port) acted like they didn’t care if my dog lived or died. But at Blue Pearl, Raven was instantly ready to take down my info as I started the drive. Once there they greeted us with compassion and concern. They had said it could be 2-3 hours and I was prepared for that, but they had her checked out and on our way in under 45 minutes. Plus the consultation fee covered 24 hours in case I needed to bring her back. Fortunately she improved, but if we have another emergency this is where I will take her. Thanks! You gave me peace of mind!
