Very nice staff. There always kind to my dog and I have never had a problem with them as far as being on time. I recommend this animal hospital to anyone.

Dr Hugh is the most genuine and caring vet we've ever met. They really care about you and your pets and will even take after hours calls if need be Don't go anywhere else, especially forever vets. I had a fading foster baby and they charged me a "walk in fee" like $60 in addition to the visit.

My dog was imported from Europe and came microchipped and my wife didn’t know that when she took the dog for the anual checkup at this clinic, besides a bunch of tests ???????? the vet suggested to do for the sake of making more money, he said we should microchip her and my wife unknowing the dog already had a chip, agreed. They didn’t not scan her to check if she had one or not and went ahead with the second micro ship! SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! MONEY KS WHAT THEY WANT!!! BE AWARE!!!

Love this vet! My cats love the Dr. He is really kind and gentle with them. He gets down on the floor to exam and visit with them. It makes it so much less stressful for them.

I cannot find the words to express my gratitude towards Dr Hugh & his staff for their kindness and compassion shown towards me and my 13 year old Maltese. They helped me make the best decision for my dog and made sure I was comforted throughout the process. They are hands down the best vet office I have experienced and I cannot recommend them more to anyone that is looking for a vet that genuinely cares about your pets!

Dr Hugh is a very knowledgeable, caring, and attentive vet. I am confident my fur family is getting the best diagnoses and treatment available with Hugh. Our last dog passed recently, he was aggressive sometimes with males. Dr Hugh was able to work with him even though he was ornery. Our new pup is all over the place but Hugh was able to get her to work with him. To summarize, he is a dog whisperer, ???? .

This is a great place to take your pet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Hugh McClelland is very gentle and kind with the animals.

I can't say enough good things about Dr Hugh. He has been there for me by staying late so my family could come say good by to a beloved pet, he has also met me at his office after hours to help heal my cats UTI. During regular health check ups, he is always on the floor getting to know my pets. Even my shy pup thinks of him as family. He'll never asks you to do unnecessary tests that won't effect the outcome of the visit. You can rest assured that your furbaby will be treated like family and receive the best care possible. I brought in my 44 yr old yellow naped Amazon parrot Lolito for his nails and beak to be trimmed a few weeks ago. This was our second visit since relocating from NY 6 mos ago. He has always dealt with anxiety throughout the years when having these services, and twice in NY he hyperventilated which caused the vet to stop 3/4's of the way through. When we saw Dr. Hugh the first time 2 months ago, he and his staff were very gentle and loving with Lolito who was ok with his nails, but became too anxious for his beak so Dr. Hugh stopped. For Lolito's second visit recently, Dr. Hugh recommended a small amount of sedative into his nostrils to make him relaxed and sleepy, not unconscious which we did. It was a great idea! I was concerned because of his age, but after weighing him (about a pound), they gave him about a quarter of the amount, and it worked, thank the Lord! It was a homerun for all concerned! I am most grateful to Dr. Hugh and staff for their special care of Lolito, and will definitely be back!❤

My first visit to the most recommended vet in my local area and I am impressed. Quite simply, Dr. Hugh heard me out and we came up with a plan for my animal. I wasn't rushed and he didn't come across as loud or pushy. I further admire his work with people who rescue animals. Not all of us bought our pet from a breeder or pet store, something that I see as an expectation in some clinics. Awesome guy. I'll be back!

After previously taking our pets to a larger chain veterinarian, we decided we wanted to make the switch to a smaller office, with a vet and staff who could actually spend more time with our fur children. We wanted more personalized care and the sense that they actually cared about the health of our fur babies. We got all of that and so much more with Dr. Hugh. Not only do they get us in promptly for any visits we made need, we are never rushed out, they are happy to answer all of our questions, they are calm and compassionate and cost efficient. They don't overprescribe medications or unnecessary tests. And we certainly feel confident that Dr. Hugh knows his stuff! I always recommend Dr. Hugh when people ask for a great vet in the Jacksonville area! We live in the Southside area and are more than happy to drive out to the Durbin area for this high level of quality care!

New to the area and elated I found DCAH! Love having my fur babies but they can be expensive when a vet visit occurs. It is so nice to know you can bring them to an excellent Dr. with a caring staff and not be completely ripped off. Highly recommend their wellness programs, truly an great deal that provides peace of mind.
