Great vet, terrible staff and technicians. I drive 30 min to see this vet but his staff may not be worth it. They give bad info, wrong times and when you ask more questions they say “I don’t know” and don’t bother to ask. Jamie is the worst person I’ve ever had to deal with. Dr. alber should clean house.

I have never been treated so poorly by any staff. The last visit the girl taking my dog … yes they make you sit in your car still,…. Humm I think they don’t like having to interact with people … she was so rude about me not wearing a mask that she took my dog ,the door closed and locked, I was so angry the way I was just treated that I pounded on the door asked for my dog. I went to my car called the office and was trying to explain how rude I was just treated, the girl on the phone never apologized, just laughed that made me more enraged!!! I told her to email me his file and would not be back, I asked to let the dr know. So a few months have passed and my dog needed his rabies and nails done I thought I will swallow my pride and call …. Well I got put on hold to have her come back and say you asked for his recorded so we can not see you , I asked if the dr was told why I asked for his records she said yes and again never once apologized ……. WOW !!!!!! Can you say rude …. I would not send my worst enemy there, pet owners beware.

Very caring staff. Although you can't enter the office at this time the vet answered all of my questions over the phone.

Highly recommend. I have tried two other vets in the are, but due to high costs and overly pushy vets that always seemed to try to sell unnecessary tests, I decided to go to Shey’s. Dr Starek was wonderful. She is thorough and answers all questions. They do not try to push anything unnecessary and even advised me on certain tests or vaccines my dog didn’t need to have done at this time. They provide a visit summary shortly after the appt.

Doc Mike is an incredibly ompationate vet. That cares about the animals like they were his own

Very disappointed. I had been told a while back that there were no appointments available for a while and recommended to go to McAbee or another vet due to low appt availability. I took the advice and went to McAbee. They asked me to transfer records from sheys and I did so. When I saw the vet tech she asked me the reason for the visit and I explained that I was told to come to them due to low appt availability. She looked at me like I had five heads. She explained that she thought that was very odd and most vets never do that, they retain their clients. Upon reading my dogs chart she indicated to me that it was reported Lilah bites and “it was clear the staff at Sheys didn’t like her”. I felt naive and didn’t make the connection that I was being pushed off purposely. I’m not sure why I was never told that I need to muzzle her or asked to have her muzzled at Sheys. I would have appreciated honesty as to what I need to do to help my dog be a better patient. Now every single time I go to McAbee’s they bring up her tendency to bite and fortunately because I’m allowed in the room with her (unlike at Sheys) she has not bitten in the 2 visits we’ve had there so far. I didn’t realize her behavior was so bad at Sheys because Covid visits didn’t permit me inside but I would have greatly appreciated being told I need to do something/made aware of the issues instead of told to go elsewhere with no explanation.

I can't say enough good things about Dr Alber. He has taken excellent care of all my girls. He recently did a surgery on my German Shepherd and it turned out great and she is healing great. His staff have been wonderful calling and checking on her on a regular basis and answering all my questions. I always recommend them to anyone asking for a great Veterinarian. Thank you for helping my girl Luna!

I absolutely adore Dr. Alber so much. He is gentle, kind, respectful, and an excellent doctor. He is amazing with my pups... but I cannot stand his vet tech. At first I was so happy that we finally found a vet that we love and we can just stay with him until the end. Now, unfortunately, he has become so busy that I'm always dealing with his vet tech, who is aweful. She is very unprofessional and gives horrendous advice on things that she doesn't even have authority to speak about. I have been trying to stick around for Dr. Alber, hoping she will get fazed out but I just can't stomach her any more. If I ever find out she is gone, I will definitely be back.

Their staff is excellent. I call when I discover my Bella had a lump. Not only did the surgery went well. My Bella recover so quickly and hardly had any pain discomfort. They call you back and constantly check on your pet. They are like family. I am so glad I have Bella seeing a warm, caring Vet. Thank You Shey's for all your help.

Killed my dog from mishandling years ago. Will never forgive them for that. Keep an eye on your pets at all times! Dont let them take your pet to the back!!

Great people and great care for the animals

I love this vet! My husband Bryant and I switched our dog Olive over to this vet when we moved and we couldn’t be happier! The doctor is amazing and has a great attention to detail and makes us feel that our girl is truly cared for. They’re also super friendly, don’t overcharge you, and are very efficient.

When searching for a new vet, Shey's came highly recommended by a friend. Though we have only been twice, we would definitely recommend. The second visit was during Covid pandemic and we could not be in the room with our dog. However, they noticed issues I did not even notice or have in my notes when I called the vet. I am so thankful they were so thorough. Four paws up!

The staff is efficient and caring and Dr. Shey takes a personal interest in your pets well being, and gives you his honest, down to earth diagnoses.

Update - with that answer and lie a lot less I will trust you with my pets, if I would be with you tech 10 min. And I didn't have an answer to my question it would tell you how confusing you clinic is and how you tech keep trashing other animal hospital...no bueno. - call to find out about the place and prices they can't give me prices if I am not in there system. I was transferred from receptionist Amy to tech Stephanie and I still could not get prices. If you are not upfront about prices I could not trust my pet to you.

Mike and the Sheys team are one of the best practices I have ever known! This morning my pup started acting funny and Mike immediately sprung into action to help her. He monitored her and kept me in the loop the entire day. Turned out she was having a severe allergic reaction to a bug or bee earlier in the day. I don’t know what would have happened if he didn’t insist us coming in just because she was acting off. He consistently goes above and beyond every time we take our pets there. My pets are my babies and I completely trust Mike and his tech team to treat them. If your looking for a trustworthy vet team who truly care about ur babies, look no further! Very grateful for Mike and the vet techs there for everything they do!

Update (9-8-20): called to get appointment to give this place a second chance and the human behind the phone said “you have to remove your negative review before we can schedule your pets”. WAY TO GO!!! I can see how much you care about our little ones. Not only did everyone I spoke with just made excuses, but they didn’t even apologize. This is going straight to the BBB and the local news. This place is more than bad, just awful. Old: Nice staff but at the time that you need them because your pet is not feeling good they weren’t for my pet, they send me to another vet, so in other words nice staff it’s not everything you need, you need a staff that care about your love ones. Again very unprofessional, how can I be asked to remove the review if you are not giving me the chance to give you a 2 second opportunity to treat my little babies, I just ask for an appointment and you treat me like a bad person

Hate this place. I recently moved to the area and I needed to find a vet for my dog. I chose this place based on the good reviews. I've been here a few times and had decent experiences, but my last experience guaranteed I would never return. The vet sucks and they're greedy.

My one and only issue with doing a review on Shey's Veterinary Hospital, is that I can't give them more than five stars. I would give them ALL of the stars if I could. I simply cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mike and his professional, friendly, team. They have known our pets for a very long time, and Dr. Mike was there when we recently had to let one go. We were very devastated and emotional, and to see Dr. Mike as devastated as we were, it brought home how much he cares about these creatures who are our beloved family members. The staff at Shey's has been there for us in every need, and I simply don't have anything negative to be said about them. If you live in Avalon, Shey's is where you want to bring your pets, simple as that. I have never seen this level of love and respect from any other Veterinary office we've ever been to. If your furkid needs a checkup, give them a call. Tell 'em I sent you.

This is my first time taking my cat Venus to this clinic and they were so professional and detailed!! Their Covid-19 Protocols are convenient and organized. When informing me on the health of Venus, DVM. Alber was wonderful and very informative! This clinic makes sure that you and your furry companion leave with a trusted diagnosis and a great experience!

If you are looking for a local vet clinic, look no further, they are the best in East Orlando. Dr. Mike is amazing and their staff is professional. My Pixie (shitzu) is not an easy dog but they have patience with her and treat her so well. We tried other local vet clinics and we are so glad we found them through recommendations. Transferring our other fur baby here.

We've had a hard time finding a vet in the area that we felt comfortable with but finally we found Shey's! Everyone I interacted with was wonderful. The vet took his time with our dog and addressed my concerns throughly. It was also nice to find a vet that wasn't trying to squeeze every penny out of you. I definitely recommend!
