Absolutely wonderful! They were so thorough and made sure our beautiful new pup was coming to a good home that would protect and care for her. Everyone was super friendly and helpful with any questions/concerns we had about our new baby. Without a doubt the best shelter I've ever been in and would recommend it to anyone looking for a very well maintained facility to get their new loved one from!

I tried to get a puppy from them and were told they don't have " no dogs at the moment" I'm like "really?!" I'm just thinking they don't want to deal with customers anymore ????????

They were nice there, very busy. Much easier to go to a rescue but more expensive. Be prepared to show proof of everything like vet appts for dogs you have, proof that you give them flea and heart worm med. They also have to come to your home if you have other animals. I don’t think they do if you don’t. It’s a pain but worth it. I’m waiting for them to bring mine. I hope they don’t keep him through Christmas cause I have lots of toys!

I felt as though I was being interrogated !! I’ve owned animals since I was a little girl. I’m 57 now. I felt like I was getting put through a LEVEL 2 background check. Who pulls up taxes, and google earth search on a home??? Who pulls up records to see who’s name is on the deed??? They needed everyone’s name, and age that lived in the house. They required everyone that lived in the house to come sit with the dog to see if everyone got along.. (really??)…. That’s impossible for my mom. I kept asking questions to see if we could get around some of their requirements. Wasn’t going to happen. I called back a few hours later to see if there anyway we could work things out. I was told that my file was flagged. I was told not to show back up. If I did they would see I’d been flagged, and I would not be able to buy a dog… period ….. What I did exactly, I’ll never know … What is wrong with people?????

Although I think the staff are friendly I think they don’t properly care for the animals. We adopted a kitten a few weeks ago that was severely underweight and had worms! We took him to our vet and got him well just to discover more worms! This is basic vet care in a shelter. They swear by adopting and not shopping but I never had issues with the animals I got from breeders.

Adopted our lovely Sadie Appa and everyone was very nice. I like that the animals adopted are healthy, up to date on shots and microchipped. Great experience.

Large no kill facility..seemed clean from what we could see in front area. Went in to donate items. Cuties in crates in front entrance area..wanted to take them all home! Looked like nice kennel & running/walking area for dogs out back. Lots of different "parks" on grounds also. Nice staffer & very thankful for donations.

They don't allow you to walk through and view the cats and dogs anymore. This is stressful as someone who is looking to adopt a dog. I want to see their temperament before they are in a manicured environment.

I'm very glad to have come here. I have adopted a beautiful black adult cat and she has already become my fluffy family. The process of adoption is quick and it was very straightforward. If you are renting, bring the landlord's number so that they can be contacted to confirm. Also, it is a great idea to get a crate to carry the cat in, especially if you plan to travel in the future anyway.

The down side is You can't see the dogs or cats only in picture album and if you do like one then they will bring the dog or cat to you.

I went there to donate a bag of food that my dog is allergic to, and also some linens for the pets, there were several people who worked there standing around and a family there that was filling out paperwork to adopt a pet. My grandson and I stood there for 45 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us.

I adopted, y’all called him Robin but We changed it to Mikey. He was 10 weeks old and truly not looking in the best of health. He did have an upper respiratory infection when I got him to my vet the next day. All was paid for by the humane society. He is now 1 year and 2 months!! The most loving cat and absolutely beautiful!! The second picture is day of adoption. I am so blessed he chose me!

I was hoping staff was more knowledgeable about cats! And hoping for a wishlist for a certain cat or dog breed. They Did not have neither.

As a prior vet assistant, I can recognize great care of animals. Our family visited here once before my son enrolled in the reading program for dogs. We were impressed then and when my son met the resident dog Peppy who hung out with the kids, we knew he was destined to be part of our family. The staff and Veterinarian here are Fabulous. We feel adopting from here was the best decision for our family and are so happy to add Peppy to our family. Thank you to all who work so hard to make Humane Society of Marion County so wonderful for the dogs and cats living there. You all are fantastic!

Too many Pit Bulls, was sad to see all these dogs that have been rescued. But also happy to know that you have taken care of them as best you can. No luck for me as I was looking for a 20 lb small to medium size dog.

Hope you don’t have to bring a animal there that you find because they NEVER have room and they NEVER accept new animals.

Alot of dogs to choose from but you can only meet two after looking in book? No way I can decide off only two dogs. Asked staff if I could see more and they didn't offer to show me more. You can't walk down isle and eye ball the dogs to see what your looking for.

We adopted a beagle and were lied to about his previous experiences. Super sweet dog. Love him to pieces. But if we had been told the truth we could have handled his transfer to our home much easier.

My wife and I went to the humane society for a puppy. We fell in love with one. The front desk gives us everything we needed to ensure a smooth transition. Bring in a video of our home for the home inspection, check, bring in dog for meet and greet, check, bring in dog shot record to prove he has rabies vaccine, check. I come in for puppy pick up day and I’m told that my dog doesn’t have a heart worm treatment. No, didn’t know it was needed. I’ve owned him 11 years and he’s been to the vet routinely, proven by paperwork required. I’m then told that I shouldn’t own animals because it’s obvious I don’t care for them. They refused to allow me to adopt the puppy and the cash money they took from me instantly is now going to take 3-4 weeks to be refunded via check in the mail. They have signs everywhere “adopt, don’t shop”. Well, with this treatment, these shelters will never adopt out animals. And im sure they put me on a list where no shelter will allow me to adopt now. It’s said that it’s easier to adopt a child than an animal. So disappointing.
