The vets are definitely dog focused. I bring a cat in for the same issue at least once a year (looks like a UTI for humans) and am dimissed with antibiotics and pain meds “because cats are cats.” But I have 3 and it’s just this one …. Vets (other than the 1 who is newest) aren’t concerned with cat anxiety - will just continue to delay exam. My oldest cat now has tumors on her body and have no answers. I recommended this place for years but no longer can in good conscience

We've been bringing our pets here for over 20 years. Even before they were at this current location.

I have two vets, this one and No More Homeless Pets. I use NMHP more as they are cheaper. We recently adopted a new fur baby and needed him to been seen ASAP as he had an issue with one of his eyes. NMHP didn't have an appt until Nov so I brought him here. They were able to get me an appt same day I called (which was great). Front desk was ok - I agree with some of the comments about the receptionists not acknowledging you right away. They will look at you, not greet you, go back to what they were doing and only when done will they greet you and ask how they can help. Waited 10-15 min after our appt time to be seen - not a big deal as we were not in a hurry. We were called back and waited a short time before the vet tech and the vet came in. Can't recall the vet's name but he was younger. Didn't appear to be overly friendly or engaging. Looked at our puppy and determined his eye issue was nothing major, prescribed some ointment, gave directions on how to use it and provided a free sample of heart guard medication. Went to pay and was shocked to see they charged me $20 to put two tiny drops of dye in my puppy's eyes (to check for scratches/damage). Two TEENY TINY drops of dye for $20? Come on. I get paying for the office visit and medication but that was a bit much. I bet the whole bottle of dye didn't cost $20 but...whatever. Overall, they addressed my puppy's issue and provided what he needs to get better. The location is convenient to my home and that is the main reason I will use them as my back up vet. I will say they had some of the cheapest prices for boarding - although it's been over a year since I've needed to board my dogs. When my dogs were boarded, they came home smelling good and were happy so I know they were taken care of.

I really really like this place. I'm almost to the "love" word, but I've only been there twice. On the third visit, they get the love word. Lol. In all seriousness, I truly have had the best care from everyone there for my sweet little Ella who is a rescue. Back Story: Ella is a rescue with one eye. When she was found, she was literally brand new and had been found abandoned by her mom and she had a lot of issues, one of them being an extremely infected eye. So all of Ella's previous vet appts have been traumatizing. So my first time taking her was very emotional for both of us. She was still trying to get used to me and this was a new vet for her and for me. They were so gentle with her, took time to love on her and let her calm down before they even started messing with her. I cried that day. The second time was just recently and she didn't cry/wail at all. She was scared, but nothing like the first time. Again, they were very gentle and thorough with her. You're in, you're out, everyone is happy, and I think they are reasonably priced. If you're looking for a vet, I would most def give this place a try. I don't think you'll regret it.

Hands down the worst vet experience. Genuinely disgusted with the vet technician and Dr. McCall Sr during our last visit. Will not be returning due to incompetence and lack of remorse for screaming and yelling at our dog behind closed doors. The dog is 1 year old and all previous vet visits have been unaccompanied by us due to “COVID-19 Restrictions” not allowing visitors inside the building with their animals. It’s clear his previous visits have been unsuccessful yet the staff decides to not adapt their approach of handling the animal; see incompetence above.

Bought a yorkie puppy from a local pet store. She was coughing, took her several times to be treated and they thought it was the effects of the kennel cough shot. Had me sit outside to bring me medication. After a month of this went into Mayport. .. well after two months she continued to cough... took her to critical care on Beach. She had a collapsed lung and severe phenonia. She spent the night there and was sent home to die. They said she had about 1 persent chance of survival. She's still here. healthy and fine... nothing to do with San Pablo. Worst vet ever... never will I trust her again.

Dr Chase McCall was EXCEPTIONAL not only in his medical skills but also his people skills. I was very worried to have my 11 yr old French bulldog put under anesthesia because it can be a problem for dogs that don’t have a snout. I love my dog and was probably a terrible pain in the neck! He communicated with me from beginning to end and was wonderful. The entire team at San Pablo Animal Hospital are incredibly caring people. I would never go anywhere else for care of my dog. ????

We've been bringing our dogs there for years. They are always polite, professional and personable. Not only have they taken care of our dogs over the years, they have assisted with their medical needs, grooming and even handling their last days with compassion and care. We have recommended them to several of our friends and family members and will continue to do so.

I requested a second opinion from San Pablo. They were awesome. My vet mussels my dog. These great techs found no need. I really appreciate the kindness and care I was shown.

We took both of our dogs to San Pablo Animal Hospital for the five years we lived in Jacksonville, FL and can't say enough positive things about the staff. From routine visits to unexpected abdominal surgery, our dogs were always well cared for, and we felt that the staff took the time to educate us on all options so that we could make the best decision for their well-being.

Doctor seemed very disengaged. Was more interested in closing and going home than care of my pet. Will never return.
