We have used Dr. Roy for many years. So if you want to read a true review about this brilliant man, proceed. We used to go to Herschel, but the lines were long and they rushed and the prices went up. We cared for a lot of animals. We brought a stray animal to "No More Homeless Pets". They are across the street from Dr. Roy. NMHP does a great job for the community by neutering thousands of animals. But to use NMHP as a regular vet was the worst experience I ever had. I thought there has to be a lower priced alternative for the many animals we deal with. We thought we will just try Dr. Roy for one visit. Frankly we absolutely think this guy is great! I would never go to another vet. Yes we have been to a number of EXPENSIVE vets in Jacksonville and they are sugar sweet and you pay for it. I think Dr. Roy is VERY smart, based on wrong diagnosis we got over time at other vets. He seems to always get it right. He is a good man and his staff always tries to help. Let's talk about his accent. I understand him and my wife picks up half, but his staff is always there and by nature they are willing to repeat. Go to him for his brilliance and PRICE. When we got to love this "country doctor" vet, we like many of his many, many clients would not go anywhere else. We drive 40 miles to get to him. He is one of only two doctors we use like him. Extremely experienced, brilliant, a little hard to understand, in an old building with low overhead, and low prices. To the reviewer that said his animal died. We once took a cat to an expensive doctor. The cat was not feeling well. This expensive vet did tests and proclaimed that the cat would live a long time. We brought the cat home and she died that afternoon. This was not Dr. Roy but a different expensive vet we formally used. WE LOVE OUR PETS!

They have saved my furbabies' lives on multiple occasions!! They are a Godsend. The tech on duty is very helpful, knowledgeable and compassionate. Highly recommended.

I’ve been going here for almost 3 years, great low cost vet.

As a person that’s in the veterinary field. Please don’t take your animal here. It’s definitely not low cost by any means. There’s cheaper places with great care! I paid for an exam and did not get an exam. The doctor did not check out any part of my animal. He gave vaccines and that it all. His vision is bad. He was getting blood for a heartworm test and couldn’t tell if he was in the vein or not! He asked the assistant “am I in?” . I can’t imagine letting him perform surgery on my animal. If you can’t see, get the proper eye wear! They performed a fecal and in 30 seconds they told me it was negative ( which is super quick to look at something under the microscope!) and then still prescribed dewormer and even thought heartgard is a dewormer and the fecal was negative! (ADDING EXTRA CHARGES FOR WHAT? ) This doctor it not personable AT ALL. Ive been going here for years and he can’t remember one detail about me. There are rabies and DA2P vaccines that last for three years so there’s no reason I should be coming back yearly for those, especially when I bring my animal back consistently. I understand I didn’t have an appointment because this place is mostly walk-in, but there should be someone at the front desk. I was the first person there and I sat there for thirty minutes unacknowledged listening to the phones ring off the hook. I will no longer be going here. The quality of service is terrible.

They are wonderful my dog loves the employee there they trest animals like they ste their own i highly recommend them

I found a four week old Siamese kitten separated from her mommy way to early. Took her to gateway as a new patient. They saw me right away. Deanna was awesome and keeps you we I formed. I'm quite heating impaired and she helped me to understand what it was I had to do to fix this little Kittie up. Dr. Roy was very gentle with her. She had upper respiratory infection with matted eyes. Gave me eye drops, antibiotics to give her twice a day. And she's all cleared up and gained a couple onces when we went back for check up. She got her shots to go yet when she's grown a bit more. And we love her very much. She loves to play and has awesome energy. She follows me everywhere I go lol.

The place to be if your on a budget.

Ive used this place often ,for my dog shots ,they are reasonable ,plus. I can get my pet license.

Really nice staff very helpful

I take my pup here every year for his annual vaccinations. Yes service was wonderful. Thankful we have good vet in the neighborhood that cares about your animals. And they also offer boarding services at a very reasonable very reasonable rate.

They are helpful but expensive

The dog services are great but the customer service is sometimes less than just. Walk in with thick skin cause the Dr. bites sometimes.

Dr. Roy is wonderful, Angel loves him. He's gentle with her as she has Separation Anxiety, so he understands her.

They helped make the process of putting down my dog(bestfriend) , about as easy as such a thing could be. Very caring people. I truly wouldn't have wanted to have ended up anywhere else that may have been less accommodating & considerate. I was facing a lot of unknowns with my boys health, & they were having trouble diagnosing him, as well as other vets. But made sure, and confirmed I made the right decision after the fact. Was an extremely hard time. Thankyou so much Gateway Hospital staff. Much love

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Best vet I've ever been to and very affordable. Both the vet and his assistant truly care about your animal. HIGHLY reccomend

Worst company in Jax. They don’t answer the phones. Waited outside for over an hour and no one came to get my cat just to see if all the stitches came out. A 3 minute process. I will do anything to get this place shut down as 5 others waited for over an hour as well. Unacceptable Business and someone needs to run this office that actually has knowledge.
