The negligence of a graduate of this university named Greg Stacey killed my cat. The Veterinary Board who dismissed my complaint after six and a half months in the system included three vets (of five on the board) from this University. No conflict of interest there, only fairness and integrity from Robert Leonard, Sharon Powell and Christopher Smith.

The physicians are knowledgeable, skilled and empathetic. Most recently they diagnosed my 17 year old miniature Shi Tzu with cancer of the small intestine and adrenal gland. Unable to keep down food or water they helped her to transition.

I would never take my dogs anywhere else. World class veterinarian hospital in our back yard. We are so lucky to have this facility! Love my dogs' primary care doctor (Dr. Wuerz), she is the absolute best.

I can not thank the people at this hospital enough, Dr. Lewis, Justin, and I will call him Dr.S I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but these guys helped me, and my dog so much, truly are God's miracle workers. God bless them and this hospital

Outstanding job done by the doctors, students, residents and staff! Every one was very caring and communicated every step in the process. My 12 year old aussie Scarlet, had LAR PAR surgery to correct a breathing problem and two weeks later is good as new! Very thankful and happy with the results! Highly recommend!

Took my dog in because she only ate a few tablespoons in 3 days. My vet referred me there. They gave her some chicken which she some. Told me that it would cost $2500-3500 to keep her over night to see internal medicine in the morning. Otherwise I can take her home and internal medicine would call me. I called them and it will be at least one month or more before they can see her. So if you don't have alot of money your dog can die.

The only place to go for an emergency! Large and small animal hospitals are both top notch! I know my animals are going to live when at either hospital, just ask Bucky...

I'm writing this in a moment of anticipatory grief for our Bella. I want to thank the hospital/university staff for looking over and taking great care of our Bella this past weekend. The doctors were all very sympathetic and informative in their communication with my wife and I. As unfortunate as the diagnosis and prognosis are, I am eternally grateful for the care that was given to our Bella. I have no regrets about taking Bella for her care and evaluation and would recommend UF Small Animal Hospital to anyone.

I was referred to the U of F by my pet's cardiologist after she was diagnosed with heart failure and needed a pacemaker. I called the U of F hospital and was told to bring her immediately. I drove 5 hours to get her there only to be told they didn't think it was an emergency and to bring her back the next day. I brought her back and they then told me the cardiologist was wrong (she wasn't) and that the condition could be controlled with medicine (it couldn't) they also said they wouldn't put a pacemaker in her because she had no symptoms of heart disease (except for severe fatigue and a heart rate less than half what is normal). They told me to bring her back if she started collapsing or fainting. My pet died less than 3 weeks later, without ever collapsing or fainting, because she didn't receive the treatment she needed. I don't understand my people like this become vets. It clearly isn't it because they care for animals.

I was at the small animal vet hospital. I dropped off my cat who is there for the radioactive iodine treatment for throid disease. All the people that I had contact with were very professional and sympathetic. The hospital is very nice. The only problem that I had was finding the main entrance to the hospital. The map that they provided me with was a little confusing.

My cat had a very rare condition so I drove here from Orlando, Dr. Peterson has been absolutely amazing. She has been so good about explaining things and keeping me informed and as scared as I was I felt so much better every time I spoke to her. She really knows her stuff and I feel confident that she truly cares about every animal and family. Her kindness, confidence and professionalism really got us through this.

If I can give zero stars I would! If you treasure your animal to not bring here! They are more concerned with getting thousands of thousands of dollars without doing the tests to fix! Drive a little further to another ER locally (I will not say the name) and they will take care of your animal properly and get them fixed up wonderfully for half the cost with a whole lot more compassion! This is also not a first horrible experience I have witnessed at this location!

My 8 year year old American bulldog suddenly lost the use of her right hind leg and the next morning, her left one as well. My vet in Brunswick, Ga recommended I take her here. When we came in, I was using a beach towel as a sling, but with my dog weighing close to 100 lbs, it wasn’t easy. They immediately came to our assistance and baby talked my dog. That may sound trivial, but when it’s your dog, it’s a relief to see such genuine compassion and concern. I went in fearing the worst, but the vet was optimistic, yet honest. My dog had a lesion on her spine, and they explained the treatment plan, as well as the costs. They also have payment plans for people who can’t pay the entire bill upfront. They kept her over the weekend and called me twice every day to update me. When I went to get her on Monday, I couldn’t get there until that evening, so the vet stayed late so that she could show me how to do physical therapy with my dog. Every person I came in contact with showed true compassion for my dog. I hated leaving her there, but when I did, I can honestly say it was with a tremendous sense of relief instead of dread—I knew she was with people who cared and would not only help her health wise, but do so in a way as to make her feel comfortable as possible in her unfamiliar environment. It’s been two weeks, and though her back legs aren’t 100%, she’s doing so much better than I thought she would this soon. It was a scary experience, but the staff handled my dog—and her panicked mom- perfectly.

Very professional. Shame that there is no interaction with the staff due to Covid. All discussion of cases is by phone.

They seem to have a lot of communication issues, but they are good vets as far as I can tell.
