Southport Animal Hospital Fort Lauderdale, Florida

My husband and I have an English bulldog and we live in NYC but come to FL often. Our nyc vet brushed us off when we told him Sasha was having a hard time walking and we wanted a second opinion so we found Southport online…I cannot begin to express how thankful we are to Dr. Robert, he listened to us and decided to do RX Rays which showed arthritis and other problems which needed medication and a diet plan. We will continue to use Dr. Robert and are so thankful that we found him because Sasha has significantly improved

I just went through one of the most difficult moments of my life, losing my best friend and 16 year old baby pekingnese. Dr Malar, and all the doctors and staff were so compassionate that they made this process easier to cope with. I’m grateful of how supportive they were all week.

I took Oliver (shichon puppy) here for a check up and the staff were so friendly, helpful and professional. I've visited 2 times and each time, the service was great. Oliver is healthy and happy as ever. I would recommend this hospital for your pet.

Between hearing my whining and moaning of life’s tribulations, loving my crazy little daughter, and the obvious, fixing my dog the medical anomaly of the doctors career. I was recommended to Southport because our usual vet was out of town but I was seen by Dr. Rey and next time I think I’ll just wait for the regular doctors as I have heard wonderful things about them.

Dr. Marler always called to check up on the cats after an appointment, they're cognizant of difficult financial situations, just overall a great and caring vet office

This vet is alright, the front staff are very friendly and overall the hospital is a clean and pleasant environment. Both times I’ve been I was led into an exam room straight away and seen quickly by the vet techs. The vet that I saw on my most recent visit was rushed and she didn’t give me a lot of information. She wanted me to collect a fecal sample from my cat which is fine but I didn’t get told that until after I paid. I wasn’t pleased to learn that I paid for the test without even knowing. But the vet did call to check up on my cats after they were vaccinated which I appreciated. Overall it’s not bad and I would recommend, just a few grievances but not a big deal.

My daughter recommended Dr Hagadorn for my yorkie a few years back, he is an excellent doctor, very informative and genuinely cares. Today my yorkie experienced a seizure. I immediately called Southport animal hospital to be told bring him in and that they would make room for him to be seen. I met Dianne Rey a new doctor for the first time and I must say I was so impressed. She was very informative and the level of compassion truly touch me. She even walked with us to our car carrying my yorkie as we left. Melissa at the front desk always provides excellent service as well . This location is outstanding along with the staff, but Dr Dianne Rey really stood out with her level of Service. Thank you Dr Dianne Rey for making this visit easier and putting us at ease ????????

I had my kitty declawed at Southport Hospital. All staff was amazing and caring. The Veterinarian R. Hagadorm did great job and my cat was feeling good when I picked her up after 2 days after surgery. The staff was also able to negotiate the price for me. I highly recommend this place.

Southport Animal Hospital has been taking care of my pets for 24 years (since I was 5 years old). The veterinarians are wonderful- they're compassionate towards the pets and owners alike, and the vet techs are so sweet and caring. The staff always explains the procedure beforehand, and they follow up with personal phone calls after to make sure our animals were alright. They're pricing is fair, and have helped even when finances have been tight. 5 stars ALL AROUND for Southport Animal Hospital. There's a difference when the staff has their hearts immersed in their work, and it shows every time me and my fur-babies come to visit.

Dr. Hagadorn is absolutely wonderful. Caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and informative. He took the time to answer all our questions, and concerns about our dog Riley who has had a history of bladder stones. The staff is also supportive and caring. Have taken my dog here for a few years however, since they moved to their new location, I've noticed they over prescribe for services not needed. Last week I took my dog in for a dew claw that needed trimming. After the 5 minute trim, they said he needed 2 separate injections plus 2 prescriptions of pills. Injections & pills were a pain killer & antibiotic, but my dog wasn't in pain before or after I left, nor did he have any type of infection, nor would he had from a simple dew claw trim. I ended up taking both unused bottles of pills back, and my dog is just fine w/o the $93.00 of prescriptions. What should have been a simple trim for $50 or so, ended up costing $253. Worse than the rip off bill is the fact they're shooting my dog up and medicating him needlessly. Also, since I try and shop locally, I asked them if they could meet PetMed's price on a medication my dog receives daily for allergies. They said they would, so I went in to pick them up. They charged me $36.00 more than the online price which they had agreed too. They then told me I would have to take a picture of the pricing and email it to them to prove the PetMed price.....guess they don't believe me, Really? I find their injection & pill pushing to be very unprofessional to say the least. Such is not only bad for our pets, but also bad for our wallets. I wonder what other unnecessary (and costly) services they are pushing on other pet owners? As you can probably surmise, I won't be back nor refer anyone to Southport. Trust your beloved pets to another vet :)
