Very disappointed with the scope of care. The Vet never assessed my dog, didn't want a copy or even look at my dogs record from his previous vet. Took blood, ran a heart worm test, which I stated she was negative and already on meds. Took a temp, asked which medication I wanted, charged me 185.00 for 20 minutes. He wasn't rude, but I guess I expected a bit more. Very old establishment.

I met Doc Swanson in 1977 when I was in 4-H when he came to do a coggins clinic for our horse club. He wasn’t long out of vet school but his dedication to provide care and educate clients has always been part of his treatment. He never hesitated to answer my all questions (and I had many). The empathy and care he showed me when I had to say goodbye to several of my babies helped so much. It was a traumatic experience every time and he never rushed me out of his office and his staff went over and beyond to provide that extra support I needed. I want to thank him for that. Thanks Doc!!!!!

Dr. Swanson has been in Callahan longer than I have lived out here which is 40+ years. He always works me in and very affordable. We had to put our cat down after 15 years plus we have taken many other animals to him. He LOVEs animals! He will care for your animal like his own.

We need more vets that care about the pets instead of the money. This guy is just that!! My dog and I are blessed to have him as a vet. Highly recommended.

I called on a Saturday after not finding any vets on the northside, he got me in that day. Treated my dog for allergies. It's an older place but met my dogs needs immediately. Only carged me $ 88.00...and that included the meds..will go back

Took a look at my dog without an appointment on a Sunday which I really appreciated. Bizarre initial meeting at the front desk where he insinuated that I was a communist because I am from New Hampshire. Sometimes I think the internet should be turned off. That being said he did attend to my dogs needs and provided descent advise. Very reasonably priced as well. 3 1/2 stars.

Always open late very caring not expensive

Very slow, and not the best customer service. But can get you in quickly.

Great Vet, he took my pup in right before closing on a Sunday for an emergency visit. He was great to her. Does the place have a little smell to it? Yes, but what vet doesn't? It's the care, love and knowledge he has for the pets that matters.

The Dr. that answered the phone when I called was rude so I took my business elsewhere.

Early this month Polly, our 19 year old chihuahua, unfortunately had to be put down. She was a very loved member of the family for many years. I took her to Doctor Swanson without an appointment, as it was an emergency, he got me right in and if there was anything at all he could have done for her I know he would have, he diagnosed all her issues and was very compassionate with her and me, I was an emotional wreck and Doctor Swanson did all he could to comfort me and Polly. I believe that Doctor Swanson's love for animals is unsurpassed, a couple days later we received a beautiful condolence card in the mail from Callahan animal hospital and Doctor Swanson, it meant the world to us. We highly recommend Callahan Animal Hospital and will see n refer everyone we know to see Dr. Swanson for all our n their animal care. Thank you so much Doctor Swanson, you are wonderful. He needs to retire already

Not professional WHATSOEVER! He is very rude and is careless. My pet had an infection going on and he did not do anything further than give me a random bottle of medicine without even asking the symptoms. When I questioned this, he went off on me. My pet may have to have SURGERY now due to this mans negligence. Never again. Do not bring your pet here unless you do not love them.

Just couldn't get past the smell. The place is just plain nasty. Dr Swanson bedside manner is just not what I will come back, even if it was free.

I recently moved into the area and needed a close Animal doctor. I found this place and wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff is friendly and helpful. The Doctor genuinely loves his patients. He is kind and gentle with my little fur babies. He doesn't recommend unnecessary tests or procedures like I have experienced other places. And an added bonus, the prices here are very affordable. I know my dogs are getting excellent care.

Dr. Swanson is great with the animals had a neuter done & removed a dew claw with my dog done very well with both.

Helpful no nonsense vet that doesn’t charge a fortune.

Love Dr. Swanson. Treats each animal like his own. Very committed to his work. He’s a bit different, but I’d trust any of our animals lives with him!

Dr Swanson has always been so caring for my furbabies. He is reasonably priced, which helps when ur disabled on a very tight budget! I thank God for me finding him ????❤️????
