My Persian cat Prince was seriously ill with crystals in his urine I called Calusa veterinary Center in a emergency the receptionist I spoke with was very helpful and friendly. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly especially vet Dr. Waller made me aware of everything my cat needed step by step absolutely fantastic vet 5 star service from Dr. Waller. Highly recommended Calusa veterinary Center 5 star service from every staff member. Thank you so much for saving my cats life.

From a business owners stand point, the person they have in charge of the place must be ruining them. I called with the slightest issue and (I think her name is bernadet) discounted my entire bill. Why? Because she didn’t have the knowledge to explain the items on my hospital visit. The lack of medical understanding alone would tell me not to put that woman in charge, but to comp my entire bill just to save an argument? She’s probably why we’ve seen the price raise twice within the last half of the year. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve been going to Calussa for 15 years Spent thousands of dollars there Their receptionists are the rudest people you can find. I actually called today with a problem and they told me to go someone else my vet Dr Crane never ever returns a phone call For the prices and the nasty service I’ll never go back. The absolute worst veterinary experience I’ve ever had. I’m new to the area and was recommended to Calusa and wish I hadn’t been. I arrived at 9:30a with my 7lb yorkie. He has Irritable Bowel Disease and I disclosed all of his information and vet records ahead of time. The vet didn’t look at the records and recommended a $1000 blood panel to figure out why he had a 104 fever. Upset and hopeless I went with her recommendation even though I knew all he needed was an antibiotic. I left at 12:30 to get 15 minutes of the vets time, some blood taken from my dog and $1000 less in my pocket. They said expect a call in a few hours. No call by 3pm so I take the initiative. The vet said all levels were normal, thankfully, and an antibiotic would clear it up. I came back to pick up the antibiotics and the pharmacist attempted to give me pills way too big for my teacup yorkie. When I asked if she had a liquid form I was given horrible attitude and told to go to a separate pharmacy. I was disappointed with how much I spent and how little care we received in return. Save your money and go else where

I was referred to Calusa by another vet for a radiology consult. That was last month. Today I went back with the same puppy for a different issue. On our first visit we were taken care of by wonderful intake staff, everyone was welcoming, doting and attentive. Our caring vet was Dr. Rubin, she was amazing. It was night and day from our ‘preventive care vet’. The facility is gorgeous and spacious. Today I was even more impressed, just as welcoming. Our provider today was Dr. Dermott - wow, she was amazing with our pup, she was amazing with me. She was loving, fun, open and sweet, as well as professional. I am thrilled to have found Calusa and will me seeking all my care here as soon as I can get out of my existing contract with Banfield.

I’ve been taking my babies here for over a decade! They are the best. Dr Dermont has helped me with everything from shots to serious illness with several of my doggies (too many to list) ! I love this whole staff!! Highly recommend!!

I am updating this review. After trying to get hold of someone for many days I was contacted by the manager Mark who was very helpful and considerate of my situation.

ANGELS AND HEALERS THANK YOU FOR SAVING BAILEY. The doctors and staff at this clinic saved our family dog this morning. We rushed her here at 7am after our German Shepard ate a poison frog. She was seizing and we thought past saving. They saved her life and even refunded us for services that she did not end up needing. They are angels and healers and deserve enormous praise for their service. Thank you so much to everyone involved with this epic establishment ????????????????????????

I brought a stray cat that had an eye infection. The cat is super sweet, me and my neighbor can pick him up with no Problem. But The Vet complained about how difficult he was, and what they were charging was insane, so I asked only to write a prescription and I would see if I could find it cheaper somewhere else, Dr Gary answered me “Whatever” and walked away from me. When my cat was returned I told him he was rude he said, you asked me for a prescription and I gave it to you. I would never recommend this place!!!

I’m not a client of Calusa, but after the care and love showed to me on Saturday I plan to switch over to them. I called for a blood transfusion for my cat (which they were unable to do because they had no feline blood on hand and their doctor was currently in surgery) and a receptionist by the name of Destiny helped me find a hospital to take my cat to. She asked for my number and went out of her way to call all the emergency vets around to find hospitals with the blood and ability to do it and hospitals that had cats on site for blood donation in case my cats blood didn’t match the type the hospitals near me had on hand. She even messaged me later to check on us to make sure we made it somewhere. I fully plan on switching over once she pulls through! Thank you Calusa so much for your help!

The Drs. and staff are truly dedicated to the pets AND owner; they understand and value the emotion surrounding all uncomfortable circumstances and truly work with you to come up with best case scenarios for anxious owners and their beloved pet while giving outstanding care.

After my dogs nail started bleeding from my trimming them, I called up Calusa they’re open 24hours a day and they were very helpful on the phone and when the bleeding did not stop and I took the dog to them they were excellent. They stopped the bleeding and took excellent care of my little cocker spaniel. I would trust them with my dog any day of the week. Thanks so much to you all!!

I saw Dr. Turkell for my 9 month old puppy - Dr. Turkell was very, very kind and I could tell he wants the best for my dog. He was open to all my questions and called me personally to follow up (several times!) He came out to the car instead of the other vets who send their techs to talk to you..He wants the best for my Kiko and I know I am in very reliable and caring hands with him. I am so glad he is taking care of my puppy. The staff at Calusa have also always been caring and responsive the times that I have visited. They answer calls right away and have returned my calls quickly. I highly recommend Dr. Turkell and Calusa for any of your vet needs. Thank you Dr. Turkell and staff for taking such good care of my Kiko!

Our rescue dog, Chance was abused and is terrified of just about everything. Needless to say, bringing him to the vet was not a pleasant experience for him or I. Since coming to Calusa, i have watched him completely transform. Dr. Dermott & her assistant Tiffany have made him so comfortable that instead of me having to drag him in, he walks comfortably with Tiffany. They schedule extra time with him so that they can give extra love (& treats!) and are so patient with him, considering his past. At his last visit they showed me a video they took of him jumping, wagging his tail and eating treats in the operatory. I will never bring Chance anywhere else & recommend Calusa Veterinary Center to anyone that has a pet they love!!

Had my first and last encounter this morning here. I am waiting for the manager (I was told Sarah would call me) today to discuss my experience. Very disappointing and heart breaking.

Calusa has been excellent in taking care of my pup. She can be timid at times and scares easily. However, she RUNS to Nurse Ashley every time she sees her, showing me that she gives genuine love and care to my pup. Doctor Turkell and Nurse Ashley have been nothing but professional and reliable in her care. Due to the pandemic, the owners have to wait outside while our pets are taken in to be treated. Although this would normally make me nervous, I feel no reservations whatsoever as my pup happily walks in with Nurse Ashley without even looking back at me. After the examination and service, Doctor Turkell calls and gives me a full update and spends as much time as needed answering any questions I may have (usually many). I live over an hour away from Calusa but I will never go elsewhere.

Dr Turkell was the best. He took incredible care of my fur baby and made me feel at ease. Kept me informed in regards to her care and was very easy to get in contact with. I would highly recommend Dr Turkell !!

Dr. Krawitz, Naturopathic Vet Doc was awesome. With covid we only spoke on the phone but he called twice while he had our dog as I waited in the car, he was not rushed, told me everything about his assessment and gave wonderful recommendations and holistic remedies.

Will definitely take my pet back here if need be!!! Cheapest services around!! ESPECIALLY on a weekend evening. Not only were they the cheapest, but also the nicest!! They have called me twice to check up on my pup after her surgery. They have answered all of my questions without hesitation. They explained everything so thoroughly and easily. Took away A LOT of my worry. I love this place and would recommend them to anyone!!!!

Incredibly expensive within 24 hours charged over $2000

The staff at Calusa took such wonderful care of my babies when they got into a tussle with a raccoon last night. They were kind, swift, knowledgeable, and so good with our girls (who usually don't do well with strangers.) Our dogs are well taken care of and will be ok, thanks to the hard work the staff did to quickly make sure they got what they needed. We hope we never have reason to go back to the emergency vet, but God forbid we do, we will choose Calusa every time. Thank you from Molly, Billie, Juju, and Leia!

Basically they killed my beloved dog Gracie. They waited 9 hours to put her in ICU, at which point they said she was not responding to treatment. They failed to do a gastric lavage, which was indicated in her condition. Inattentive staff, non-responsive to the needs of the pet parent. Charged about $2,300, up front, and amazingly enough, no further charges (I wonder why?) They are a bunch of money hungry butchers, notoriously known for overcharging and not giving a damn about the animals they swore to care for. If I could’ve given them a score below zero, I would’ve.

Dr. Ruffato and the team at Calusa Veterinary Center saved our beloved cats life! We drove him immediately over to the hospital after our primary veterinarian diagnosed him with a linear foreign body in his intestines. Calusa went above and beyond working with us getting Romeo his life saving surgery swiftly and getting him back home to us in no time! We can't thank them enough for giving us our loving cat back! Thank you Dr. Ruffato and the team!

They were told to privately cremate our dog so we could get his remains back instead they sent him to communal cremation and now we will never get our dog back. This is a mistake that should never happen to anyone. The heartbreak is unimaginable

He's compassionate and honest and I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Turkell and Calusa Veterinary Center and their staff. I use Calusa for all my fur babies medical needs, boarding and grooming. My fur babies are safe, loved and always in good care at Calusa with compassion from everyone at the practice. Being a dog owner for most of my life there is times that one will have to face some difficult and devastating decisions as the cycle of life comes to an end of our most beloved babies. In these cases Dr. Turkell and his staff have provided me with 24 hour care compassion, honesty and communication to make me feel comfortable and in full disclosure of all and any concerns. My dog had cancer and needed surgery. Dr. .m. Ruffato and the hospital nurses were amazing!! They were keeping me posted on everything, answered all my questions and in a vert good price! I felt through all very comfortable and trust them completely! Cant say enough to describe how wonderful they treated my god and me! I recommend this hospital with all my heart ❤️ As a dog owner i had very bad experience with other places that were unprofessional and seemed to care more for the money i pay then the wellness of my dog!
