The minute we came there with a kitten they started screaming at my husband do you have $1000 to save your kitten. They wouldn’t even check him out first.. my kitten had severe diarrhea and wasn’t eating he was only 6 weeks old we bought him from someone.. we couldn’t afford the 3,600 care so we had to surrender the kitten to rescue and they lady was very pressuring. I bought the kitten from someone for my daughter for Christmas

I called this Vet clinic about a stray, emaciated cat. A wonderful gentleman, Mickey Syrotiak assisted me and connected me with receptionist Marina. Both of them were so curteous and assisted me with such compassion as I was so upset about finding this cat. They immediately got me in to see the Vet and she as well as the Vet tech were so thoughtful and professional and explained all.to me about his evaluation and treatment .They were all so extremely helpful and thoughtful throughout this process ..Everything was explained to me before I made any decisions. . I would certainly recommend this Clinic for your pet needs and this type of care. I and this kittie are extremely thankful to Mickey and all staff for their prompt service and guidance. Very grateful . Many thanks !

The staff was very kind and my dog's visit was pleasent. Dr. Crocker was patient and kind as she answered all of my questions. Additionally, she shared valuable information with me as a fisrt time pet owner. I am looking forward to the continued care and relationship with Veterinary Wellness Center.

I brought my cat in for ear mites. They were able to treat the mites and provide me with a medication for the residual inflammation. Resultant of bringing my cat to their facility, however, my cat caught an upper respiratory infection. Despite charging nearly $300 for the initial visit, they insisted that there is nothing they can do but to schedule another appointment (i.e., another $150+). The vet was nice, but it seems the company values the holy dollar more than their duty of care.

The entire team is always great when we go in! They go above and beyond for my dog even calling to check up on her a few days later which we are so grateful for!

Been going here for years. Really good service with friendly staff and knowledgeable doctors. Street parking is available as well is some reserved spots inside the neighboring parking garage.

Vet wellness ctr of New Haven Means confidence and trust in the people who take care of Tank, Both Marcia & I have grown children, so Tank is basically our baby. You just don't trust your baby to just anybody. I trust their findings, the warmth they give out. Tank likes going to vet he also, knows he will be well taken care of. I also realize the vets treats our dogs, I am sure she knows nervous pet dog owners. Glad they didn't tell me to wait outside . I also want to thank Rick & Carol who recommended vet wellness center.

Even with an appointment it takes long to be attended. I was disappointed because by phone I was given one price for shots, and in person, I was charged a lot more.

Attentive and caring professionals. Everything went great! It was a specially nice touch that the medicine that I got for my dog came pre-loaded in several syringes with the exact amount. The technician took her time to load the syringes for me. It's these little details that really makes a difference for me.

I called to set up an appointment for my elderly cat. They were not interested in setting up an appointment and were not responsive when I requested for suggestions for another local veterinarian that could help. I guess they would rather see my cat die.

Treated me very well but most importantly, treated my cat even better! I've only been here once so far and will be taking my other cat here. I expect the same amazing service. Update 2021: still doing an awesome job and we have a new puppy that we will be bringing him here as well.

I felt as if the new doctor was trying to sell me on all of the recommended treatments for my cat, rather than clearly explain why the treatment was recommended. It felt like I was receiving a sales pitch for some simple bloodwork. On top of the unnecessary lobbying for basic treatment, I did in fact receive a sales pitch for some new pro biotic product that allegedly treats my cat for symptoms he is already medicated for. It felt very uncomfortable and unlike any experience I've had there to date. I've always gone here with the solace that the staff was not trying to "sell" me on things ad nauseum, but the new doctor gave me a different, more negative experience.

Brought my 2 Maltichons here and I loved it! They will continue going here. Everyone is very kind and responsive. The vets are thorough when explaining what's best for your pet.

TL,DR: if you’re forced to go here because of its location, save yourself the grief and get your pets’ medications from an online pharmacy and try to do any bloodwork/vaccinations elsewhere. This office takes any opportunity to exploit you and seems to struggle with properly dispensing amounts of medication (i.e. may give you less than you need). The staff here are polite/nice and really great with animals but because they're the only vet office close to Yale's campus, they get away with charging exorbitant prices for everything. My experience today was especially appalling. My cat’s on a course of liquid antibiotics that I purchased from their pharmacy, but I ran out of medicine 3 days earlier than I should've. After notifying them, they initially made me think that I picked up/started the medicine earlier than I thought. I found proof that this was not true (so there’s some sort of disorganization on their end that could’ve left my pet with an incomplete course of antibiotics) and pushed back. They called me back saying they’d gotten permission from the vet to give me more and to pick it up in an hour. So I went in 1.5 hrs later. I waited in their office for 30 min for a med that should’ve been ready by that point (apparently they hadn’t actually gotten permission from the vet??? Not sure what that was about) and to add insult to injury, I paid $22 for 3 doses of a medication that initially cost <$60 for 21 doses. I’m shocked they didn’t give me those doses for free (especially given the wait time). When I asked why I ran out of the med early in the first place, they said it’s because it evaporates easily. Even if that’s true (the bottle has a stopper and was stored in the fridge) and this problem wasn’t the result of an incorrect initial pour—why not warn the pet owner about this evaporation issue (I explicitly remember asking if there's anything I should know about it / its storage), and more importantly, why not provide extra in the first place so that the pet actually has enough for their full course? The fact that I wasted so much time for an extra visit is infuriating, not to mention how much more expensive it was for the additional 3 doses. It frankly felt predatory and I regret not saying something in person (I didn't because the receptionist was nice and at that point I couldn't afford to waste any more of my time). Next day edit: after all that headache, the new doses aren't even as much as they should be (they're individual syringes with 0.55 mL of medication instead of the 0.6 mL my cat needs / presumably I paid for). Again, this begs the question: was I just not given enough medication in the first place? Did I waste my time/money because the staff needs to be retrained on measuring and dispensing medication? Sure seems like it. I hate having to be so salty when the staff has always been friendly to me, but the office really needs to acknowledge their mistakes.

I live in Maryland and just adopted, Beau, a former patient of the Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven. I'm just getting him established here and needed to get his heartworm and flea and tick prescription quickly. Dana was so understanding and helpful. Because of her, we'll be keeping Beau's preventive meds on schedule. Many thanks to Dana! :)

Not the cheapest by any means, but without question the best care available for our dog. A rescue who came to us at 4 yrs old, he had health problems our previous vet was totally unable to alleviate. We feared we'd lose him before he reached 5. Then we found Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven. Our little guy is now 17 1/2 & still doing well. We can honestly say if it weren't for these vets he wouldn't have lived this long. The staff at Veterinary Wellness Center always make us feel like family. They never rush us, always listen to our concerns, in every way showing they care about our dog.

We were in town visiting for just a few days and our Border Collie needed a check up due to environmental allergies. We found the Veterinary Wellness center by doing a google search and we were extremely happy with the experience. Dr. Lisa MacKay was very thorough, she did not rush us and was very concerned and helpful in finding the best treatment for our doggie. Thanks for your care and concern Dr. MacKay!
