If you were able to give ZERO stars that would be appropriate. The receptionist should find another career, customer service is not his forte. On numerous occasions he was rude and gave inaccurate information. When we asked to speak to some one else because we were having trouble communicating with him, he hung up on me. I waited around five minutes for a call back but it never happened. When I called back they claimed they were having issues with their phone system, but they never called back?? I wrote a personal letter to the owner of practice to inform her of how her front line receptionist was interacting with customers. She didn't have the decency to call me back and talk about it. We have 3 pets and have contributed plenty of money to her practice, and if she doesn't even have the time to find out why patients are leaving practice, well that should tell you all you need to know. When you call they claim calls are recorded for QUALITY ASSURANCE,, I wish she would listen to how her male receptionist is talking to customers, maybe she will get a clue. I would never recommend this practice.

Southport Vet is the best Veterinary we have ever used. They are very knowledgeable and they really care about the health of our dog. They have really helped us over the years.

I have had my dogs for 7 years and lived all over the United States with them (California, Michigan, North Carolina, northern CT) And I have NEVER had a vet cost anywhere near as much money as Southport Veterinary Center. The owner has made his veterinarians care more about ripping off pet owners than your animals care. They gave me an estimated bill of $1,300 to DIAGNOSE my dog, not even to start treating her, and that’s not counting the $216 I did pay for the URINE TEST (not even a physical exam, just a urine test. I’ve never paid over $50 for a urine sample before). They told me the rigorous and long process that it would take to do this diagnosis, all the visits and lab work it would require, and I knew it wasn’t an easy process but this was more complex than anyone had warned me about. I started telling people about my experience here and they said that sounds so weird and to go to another vet... I am SO glad I sought out a second opinion. Just two visits, two lab tests, and her prescriptions at another vet later (so diagnosis and treatment) bill total was $464! That’s $1,000 less than what Southport quoted me at!!!! I get it, Southport is a wealthy area. But they were not kind or human when interacting with me, just trying to get me to pay for everything and anything they could. It seemed like a scam and now I know, it was. I recommend going to a vet that will care more for your animals and less about taking as much money from you as possible. 1 star because the receptionist was always nice.

I wish I had read some of the negative reviews before taking our puppy to Southport Vet. They are kind people but prices are extremely high. Before I decided to use them I called to ask about prices and found after multiple visits that they were consistently much higher then what I was originally told. I would not even take the time to write this review if they were fair with us when we decided to go to another vet due to the cost. They had us pay in advance for the Lepto Series shots. We only received one of them and I asked for a refund for the second one as we are not getting it from them and going to another vet for it. They refused to refund us for a shot we did not get and found this to be extremely unfair and rude of them. They could have avoided this review by being fair about it........ Not to mention they used our puppies picture on their FaceBook page.

Prior to Dr. Hart taking over, the rates were cheaper and they were not so stuck up. They never fail to run multiple tests insisting that this is the best option to determine the health of your pet. Always ask whether or not it's necessary because this vet likes to drain as much money out of you as possible. $150 for just a rabis shot and claw cutting for my cat. Ridiculous. That's almost $200. My family has been going to this vet for over 12 years or so and the decline in pricing and customer service has really gone down hill. The receptionists are really arrogant and snarky and have given me an attitude when I have asked basic questions. They are not nice nor patient. My other cat who we had adopted last summer is not going to be going here EVER. I don't have $200 to hash out on a whim. I am really disappointed in their lack of care. This vet is all about money. Money, money, money. If you're willing to put up with arrogant receptionists and waste vast amounts of money feel free to go here.

We had a bad experience at Southport Vet Center about five years ago. It was their office staff not the vet doctors...they're horrible. We complained about our treatment --- especially involving my wife who is disabled by MS -- but before we could fire them they fired us! Literally said we should find another vet and even refused to accept our payment for services provided to our dog. Prior to this we had had a long and very happy relationship with our vet in Florida but had moved here and were looking for a new vet. My wife and I have Ivy League degrees and we practice our faith at a local Episcopalian church. These guys were a really really bad choice--I'll spare you the remaining details---and I wouldn't recommend them to any one. Thankfully we found Mitchell Greenberg, DVM in Easton and he is probably the most compassionate and talented vet you could ever want. And his staff is very nice too.

I was given an estimate of $550 - $600 for my cat’s treatment and when I picked up my cat I was charged $1550 with no diagnosis. Never received a call to discuss the remaining charges with the exception of the ultrasound. Will never go back here.

I brought my cat there recently for a problem with her paws and instead of treating her, they ran a bunch of unnecessary tests and my cat only got worse. After a couple visits, a couple weeks, and a few hundred dollars spent, I brought the cat elsewhere where she received care and treatment immediately. One of the doctors who I don't want to mention is very bad at listening and only wants to talk to show you that she is a doctor and knows more than you. I'm very happy with my choice of bringing the cat to a new place and would tell people to stay away from this place

Such a great staff, they got us in right away when our cat was having issues, even though he was new to them.

As a new cat owner with little experience, I have found Dr. Hart and the staff at SVC helpful and reassuring. Not only was I comfortable with all of the medical treatment given to my cat but I was also pleasantly surprised by the tips Dr. Hart gave me to curb some of my cat's problematic behavior--this is just as important as medical care. My cat is healthy and his behavior is tremendously improved. I strongly recommend SVC to any pet owner.

I love Southport Veterinary Center. My dog is 2-1/2 years old. I have been using Southport Vet since my family adopted our dog. I have had personal experience with all of the doctors on staff and have been very pleased with them all. The Doctors and staff arevery knowlegeable. They are also compassionate to the humans, and loving to the animals! I have never had anything but a great experience using Southport Veterinary Center and highly recommend them!

Southport Vet Center/Dr. Hart has given excellent medical care to our pets over the years - our two older dogs who had complicated medical issues, our cats and now our new puppy, who needs and gets lots of behavior and training tips as well as medical care from Southport Vet. The team there is very experienced and dedicated - they clearly love animals and want to help us take good care of our pets.
